Content of Narnia Game

I'm wondering if this would be a good gift for a nephew 8-1/2 yrs old. While his father is a big fan Narnia and reads him the books, he's careful not to buy him games with too much violence. So he is wondering what the battles are like in the game... How much of the game do they comprise? Is there blood? How intense and realistic is it? etc... Any info about it will be appreciated.

I haven't played it but the only content description within it's Teen Rating is for Fantasy Violence. Which is a pretty safe sign overall for violence "lite." You can look at this IGN review too.

The movie supposedly doesn't have any blood, so I seriously doubt that the game adaptation does.

The game has no blood but it does have violence (a lot of fighting). But its not graphic in the least. Here in Australia it would be a G8+ (for general audiences 8 years and above). I think that's an appropriate rating since there is violence but its not detremential. Its like the Lord of the Rings fighting games by EA but less violent than even that. There is some magic done by the White Witch but overall its pretty clean for a game these days. The only intensity would be the numbers of villians that come at you through the game. There are heaps of them. Although there are some clips from the movie that would be intense and some ingame "movies" that would be a bit scary but nothing most 8 year olds couldn't handle.

Yes, the gameplay is like the LOTR game`s twin. Lord of the Rings was rated T for blood and violence, but you had to look very close at the screen to see even a speck of blood and I doubt your nephew likes to look 3 inches away from the tv screen. The blood in LOTR was black and came from Orcs as well but your nephew could easily confuse it with mud if he ever saw it.
As for apropriateness, I would definately go for Narnia.

Hmm, yes this helps. It's not that he hasn't played teen-rated games before. He's played stuff like Smash Bros., and StarWars: Clone Wars, and he watches me play Shadow of the Colossus. But he tends to get a little carried away sometimes. They've noticed that playing intense fighting games (like smash) can make temporarily make him more argumentative and agressive, so they keep such games to a minimum.

Hahah... I remember the commodore 64... It was one of like 10 systems that had an atari controller port built in (the four Atari consoles and the Atari Computer (I don't know about Jaguar), genesis, Probably master system? Maybe more...) I wish that systems would do that now... It would be fun using my PS2 controller on my nintendo... Hahaha!

Narnia... I avoid License games in most cases... Good license games are like 1 in 30...

I played Newcomer on a Commodore 64 way way back. But I cared more about playing with GI Joes in the sand, running around, and beating myself over the head with a red block.

I decided I would make games when I was 4 as well, but i had no stinkin clue how.

Myoti, you`re only two years older than me. You just turned 17, right? -If your turning 18 soon than wahtever- I didin`t just turn 14 you know. Notice that I have been this age since before you joined Myoti. You joined almost a year ago so obviously I`m turning 15 soon.

ANYWAY..........

My friend has this OLD school system and it turns out to be a Commodore 64, so now I have seen one. He just never plays it.

So I`m assuming the graphics aren`t good. Would that make the Narnia game a sidescroller?

Um...wow, this is off topic....um.....

Well the C64's graphics were good for their time. Remember how old the computer is. There were some great games for the C64. Pity it took like 20 mins to load a game.
