;) Close! You're doing well

Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers

But his delight is in the law of the Lord
and on His law he meditates day and night

he is like a tree planted by streams of water
Which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither
Whatever he does prospers

I have been having a hard time remembering the ones we have learned before, so I think I'll try writing them down as often as I can here:

Psalm 119:11
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you

James 4:7-8
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts you double minded

1 Peter 5:5-6
Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. Clothe yourselves with humility towards one another because
'God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble'
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand that He may lift you up in due time.

Psalm 119:11
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.

James 4:7-8
Sumbit yourselves, then to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, oh you sinners, purify your hearts you double-minded.

1 Peter 5:5-6
Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility towards one another because "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble." Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand that he will lift you up in due time.

Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the way of the wicked, or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that bears fruit in season and whose leaf does not whither. Everything he does prospers.

I suppose it is time for verse 4 soon?

One thing that I appreciate about memorizing all of Psalm 1 is that you get some context. It really annoys me when verses are taken out of context. There was this one time when the memory verse for the occasion (I don't remember what the instance was) was Matthew 6:33 "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." :shady: So anyway, my point is that I am very glad that we are memorizing chunks, not little pieces.

Errm
*checks when the last was put up*
yes! Thanks for reminding me XD I have to put it up tomorrow :thumb:

I also like memorising in chunks because it means less references to remember  I've found that I can memorise the verse fine, but I can't remember where it is! And yes, I agree with you about taking verses out of context.

Like the whole "I stand at the door and knock". That isn't in relation to the unsaved, but to Christians!

Okedokey! New verse:

Psalm 1:1-4
Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers

But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.

Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.

Edit: First post editted to include this verse

Wow. I just realized that I have never actually read that verse in context. I'm going to go look it up right now.

Psalm 1:1-4
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord. On His law he meditates day and night.

Ahhhhhh I'm so behind! *paste verse into signature*

I must comment that I do like Psalm 1 quite a bit. It's very comforting for the faithful during troubling times.

I agree. It is also good advice for how to live and what company we should keep (esp in verse 1)

New verse tomorrow!

T__T I'm slipping... sorry

New verse:

Psalm 1:1-5
Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers

But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers

Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

That's ok.

Umm, I think you are missing the last line of verse three (whatever he does prospers).

Psalm 1:1-5
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the council of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, he bears fruit in season and his leaf does not whither. Whatever he does prospers. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand at judgement, nor the sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

New verse (and last verse in Psalm 1)

Psalm 1:1-6
Blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked
or stand in the way of sinners
or sit in the seat of mockers

But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither.
Whatever he does prospers

Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.

Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.

For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

The First Psalm

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.
But his delight is in the law of the Lord. On his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree planted by streams of water which bears its fruit in season and whose leaf does not whither. Everything he does prospers.
No so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand on the day of the judgement, nor the sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.

Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

I think Mave gave me this one... thanks a bunch Mave! :thumb:

You shall learn it in another language then!

Filipa 4:6 ~ Indonesian/Malay
Janganlah khuatir tentang apa pun,
tetapi in dalam segala doamu, pintalah kepada Allah
untuk apa yang kamu perlu,
dan selalu pintalah dengan hati yang bersyukur.

.....

ok, just kidding XD

We should be able to opt for another verse if everyone already knows this verse. ^^ I'll let Talame make the call, though.

>_< I'm sorry for taking so long... some friends from my old town came to visit me as a surprise for my brithday, so I haven't accessed CAA for a few days.

Anyway, new verse:

Phillippians 1:9-10
And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ

Edit: Btw, I have attached the verses so far in a word document. It might help to print them out and stick them somewhere where you go frequently so as to help keep em fresh in your memory :thumb:

*creeps in silently*

2 Timothy 2:20-21
In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for noble purposes and some for ignoble. If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

This verse is rather interesting for me... I've been praying for awhile now for God to cleanse me and transform me into His likeness... but in this verse, it shows how we have a role to play in that transformation. Interesting eh?

I find the choice of that verse intersting also. A missionary couple from our church to Africa was visiting us and the sermon they preached involved that.

You're not the only one scrambling. (-_-);; But let's keep trying our best.

Considering that Talame isn't available at the moment, would you like to suggest a new verse for memorization? It might be a good idea to rotate the role of picking verses especially since the group is small. I'm sure Talame will be fine with this.

So the day before Thanksgiving break I left my jacket (with the memory verses in it) at a friend's house, and I haven't been able to get it back yet. I know, excuses, excuses... :shake:

Job 3:2

"He said:"

.........

*ROTFL* That cracked me up. XDDD That certainly looks like the easiest verse to remember to date.

But in all seriousness, I can go ahead and pick something, if you don't feel comfortable. Lemme know, k? Gotta keep it going, no matter how many times we fall behind. Isn't that the whole point of accountability and perseverance? ^_~

As promised,

Psalms 19:14

May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
Be pleasing in your sight
O Lord, My Rock and My Redeemer

This verse has been important to me as it's been a struggle to control my mouth and heart recently. God, pls use this verse to help our minds to be controlled by the Spirit.
