Back From Neko Con

Well what a experience. A new location for the con and alot of walking from one end of the building to the other. Larger areas to work with no crowding. A few problems that the staff had to answer to during the feedback session.
Saturday night for the con was something too. Being that the con could only use the lower floor of the center the second floor was off limits to con attendees. Reason! There was a large dinner for the anniversary of a local catholic church, so there were nuns, priest, members of the Knights of Columbus and members of the church who at times managed to end up amongst the con attendees. Then in the ballroom next to that was the USMC Ball and some how we had them also amongst the attendees.
To add to this across the street in the coliseum there was a gangsta rap concert. I didn't know who to fear the most. One of my buddies said to fear the Penguins.
The hotel I reserved through the con was a 1/4 mile from the center and walking was a little too much so I had to drive my pickup over because I was going to be there late to help with closing around 2AM.
We had to fold and store over 500 chairs for the dance and then put them back up for the morning both Friday and Saturday.

Latest on the number of chairs that had to be folded. The room that was used for Main Events has the room for 2300 people. The number of chairs was 1500 and it took 20 to 40 minutes to fold and store the chairs on rolling racks. The center's people were impressed.
Being on the Good Samaritan Squad a few of my compadres were not happy about not being able to help anyone who got hurt because the convention center had a on site EMT but at times they were hard to find if something did happen. I was not happy to see one of the GSS members confront the EMT about his being around if something happened. I don't think the GSS member knew I was a EMT (Because he said he had American First Aid and CPR) also and a firefighter III which in some fire depts is a Master Firefighter which is just below Fire Officer I

I tried my best to understand all of this.
So was this a bad experience, or a good one? ^^;;;

I guess it depends on a person's view of things. Do you want to have people of that different mixtures that close together?
Not being able to help people because someone is paid to take care of that but seemed to not be around even if nothing serious happened? It may have bothered some of those on GSS but I could live with it as long as someone didn't stop breathing or was badly hurt that bleeding needed to be controled.The convention center had to hire their own EMT because of insurance.
I enjoyed the show, the work, the new building and new location.
The walking wearing military boots that I use for special occasions made my feet hurt after awhile and I wore them for 3 days. I think I need a new pair that are wider around the toes. My ankles still smart after this long.
I have found the hotel or motel I plan to stay in next year because it is closer to the center and half the cost of what my friend Andria and myself paid for.
