Radiata Stories

Postby Rjdreamer » Mon Oct 31, 2005 9:19 am

Well, I got the game a while ago and I am LOVING IT!!!
The visual aspect is awesome. When you are walking along a path with mountains in the background you can actually see, say, a mountain Goat, in the backgound moving around on the mountains.
The fighting is interesting too. Though early on it may seem alot like your just bashing things, when you become the leader that all changes.
One of my favorite things about the battle system is when you are the leader, it is your job to protect everone. For instance, in Kingdom Hearts you are trying to keep yourself alive. After all, if Donlad or Goofy get knocked out they not only can spring back up after awhile, but they still get exp.
Not so with Radiata Stories. If a teammate gets knocked out, they are out for that battle and get no exp, though they do get one health point back after the battle. You also have the power to heal all the team at once! The plot is enthralling, the characters vary from humorous to deep, both interesting, and battle system is more interesting then it first looks.
I have gotten pretty far, and I can't wait to see where this story is going!

I was interested in it, since I like the Star Ocean games, and the combat system is similar...however, I found out that unlike Star Ocean, you CANNOT swap between party members in battle, you are stuck controlling the main character. That turned me off, combined with the vast amount of characters in the game (as a general rule, I don't like games that have lots of characters).

But if you enjoy it, good on ya. :thumb:

I rented this game awhile back when it was released. I didn't really get much of a chance to hunker down and play it, but when I did have time to play, I really enjoyed the game's sense of humor. -It was refreshing from the piles and piles of melodramatic RPGs.

I heard the main reason of the creation of this gme was:
They started programming a Star Ocean IV, but they realized the series was pretty much raapped up due to the situation on Disc 2 of Star Ocean: Till the End of Time.
So, they made a game that had Star Ocean elements that would be the next series for Tri-Ace, but who knows? They may make more Star oceans, I guess they are just braindead for a plot at this point in time.

Either way, i wanna get thios game but there is a lot more games that i would rather obtain available, so i`ll wait a little.

I plan to pick it up eventually once it drops in price.

I'm deciding whether or not I should ask for this game for Christmas. And from what I have read, the reviews on this game can be from the cruddy (like some of Igns) to the average (gamespot and G4) to the outstanding (game informer). In other words, I'm unsure whether or not the game is good enought to buy. But it seems really good though.

It's awesome. Just expect something different from Kingdom Hearts, and don't judge it for it's first couple of scenes. It's one of those games that get better as it goes along.

^ Heh, just like Chrono trigger. That game went from dull to fantastic..one of my favorites.

But the battle system may turn me off. From the trailer it looked turnbased.

It's in realtime. Though, at first, the fighting seems more like pressing the circle again and again, as soon as you get to the part where you can pick your own player, it becomes MUCH more fun.
