The heavens declare...

Postby Ashley » Sat Oct 29, 2005 10:40 pm

I went to a Chris Tomlin + Matt Redman + Louis Giglio concert tonight, and one of the things they brought up was this huge lecture on space and the beauty of astronomy. It was really awesome, but this was the best part.

Several thousand lightyears away is a galaxy called "the whirlpool galaxy", and it's quite gorgeous. At the center, the Hubble Space Telescope captured this:

When I saw that, I thought I was going to cry...it literally took my breath away. No wonder the Psalmist says that the heavens declare the work of His hands, and day by day and night by night they pour forth speech. Truly, all of creation testifies to our Savior, the lamb "slain before the beginning of the world."

Just wanted to share with all of you.

Oh that's beautiful! It looks like a cross!

It's funny, right as I came on this thread, that song that goes "The heavens declare you are glorious, great is your name in all the earth" was playing in my head. ^^ I thought that was kind of funny!

Thanks for the link. That was cool.

I don't think it looks like a cross....

It looks more like that giant Jesus statue in Brazil.

Oh, my gosh! I went to the exact same concert Ash, and saw the same message and presentation! It was incredible!

Did the whole room go completely silent when the showed the slide from the Passion of the Christ? Our auditorium, filled with probably 10,000 people was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop. It was completely awe-inspiring.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Yeah, it did! Actually it was funny, Chris said they had just played in Houston the night before, and I got up and whooped. Then I thought I was going to be stoned XD

Did you hold up your cell phone and sway? I turned around (I was sitting like, 10 rows from the stage *O*!!) and it looked like a bunch of fireflies. It was so cool.

And yeah, that presentation left me speechless. I wanted to be an astronaut all over again, besides stop and worship God with everything I had in me. It was really, really awesome, and I'm glad you got to see them Osaka. =3

We did!!

I was up really close too, and when I looked back to the tons of rows behind me and the balcony, it was incredible how gorgeous a bunch of cell phones could be! That right there was very cool.

When I was last at a Chris Tomlin concert and he said, "Everyone hold up your cellphones." My friend Kassi shrugged, held her phone up turned off, and said to me, "I don't see why we're doing this." XD She is the greatest blonde ever. In fact, this was at Passion last year. I also went to Matt Redmen's workshop on how to write prasie and worship music.
Gorgeous picture Ashley-san. I felt since the eigth grade my mission field was the sciences and other scientists. This is right up my alley.

Both of thoes pictures are amaizing. They don't make me want to cry, but they are amaizing none the less.

...I've always thought the cell phone thing is silly... but, to each his own I guess.

i love that song ^_^ sometimes i sing myself to sleep to that
The Letter from God Dear child, Despite your silence, I have heard your soul weeping. Why have you been so unhappy? Have you forgotten my everlasting love for you? Child, you are mine. Why have you not called my name sooner? If you seek me, I will answer. I am your counselor, ready to instruct you and show you which path to take. When you come to me, I will embrace you and silence all your fears. Just remember that I am here to hold you close and dry your tears. I will always be right beside you. Not only am I your father, but your best friend. Do not be afraid to ask for my mercy and forgiveness. I know that its hard to live on earth, so I understand when you fall down once in awhile, ask me for help, and I will pick you up and carry you. No one loves you more than I do. When you feel alone, remember I am beside you. When you feel helpless, remember I offer myself to you. When you feel lost, remember I will lead you, and when you feel forgotten, remember that you are my child and I will love you unconditionally. It is never too late to come home. I will be here waiting, ready to embrace you. I will leave the light on for you. Forever with you, God
