Postby Artist4Jesus89 » Sat Oct 22, 2005 2:05 pm

Has anyone tried it?
Ive decided that im not going to date for two years or have any crushes (its hard but not impossible.) Because i want to get closer to God and then im sure that God will do many great things in my life within these two years.

As young as you are, it sounds like a good idea to wait on the dating thing.

Yep. That's what I'm doing. I saw all my friends going boy crazy, and it really turned me off. I know that when the time is right, God will bring a wonderful guy into my life, who'll want to court me, not just play around with dating. Sounds kind of old fashioned. but until I'm old enough for that, I've never seen the point of falling for a guy. Just a big distraction. For now I'm just focusing on things like God, school, martial arts.

I'm glad someone else is like that too. There's a really great book by Joshua Harris called "I Kissed Dating Goodbye". You may like it as well.

Yes, at your age makeing a commitment not to date for a few years sounds like a very good idea. Dating at that young an age wouldnt really serve any purpose anyway.

I'm sort of doing that. I was wanting to go out with this girl for a while, but then it didn't work out, so I said, hey, this is stupid, and I decided I wouldn't go out with anyone unless God obviously wanted me to.

well still, good idea.
i decided to let Jesus handle boys for now. i figure i know i want to get married one day and God knows too and i think He'll set me up right ^_~
so right now, i'll focus on Him first, and all other things will come too.

i suppose...

I've been able to do that for a long while now simply because I haven't found the right girl/woman as of yet.

yeah I have this chrush on this guy but I don't think anything will happen.
I think its okay to have crushs just as long as they don't turn into obession. Although its a good idea to avod them.
Go for it girl.

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

*High-five* I would really like to just encourage you in doing this. It's not an easy commitment to make. People stared at me like I had lost my mind when I told them I could care less about having a boyfriend because no one could satisfy or fulfill me like God did. It's awesome that you're showing a deeper thirst for Christ like this by sacrificing distractions.
As someone who has made it through four years without dating, please allow me to give you one warning. Anytime Satan knows you're seeking God's face, he'll pull whatever he can to bring you down in your walk. Don't take this lightly. He knows just how to get you into the right situation and under the right circumstances to make you crumble. Never forget he has your number. You're probably going to come under a lot of pressure from people you care about to cave in. They'll probably say something like, "Don't make it this serious. You won't screw anything up by just having some fun. You're a teenager. Live a little while you still can." And at that time, those kinds of comments may be very tempting but I just encourage you to stay strong. When you get to the top and you're looking back, you don't want to have anything you can regret. You've already shown a lot of wisdom in making this kind of decision, stick to your guns.:thumb:
"So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."

2 Samuel 6: 21&22

"I am going to take this bucket of water and pour it on the flames of hell, and then I am going to use this torch to burn down the gates of paradise so that people will not love God for want of heaven or fear of hell, but because He is God."

GREAT idea..this week I was fortunate enough to go on a Girl's Retreat in a city in my state..it was awesome!!

The topic for this retreat was, "Amazing Love" and we talked about how God should be our first love, and how abstinence should be our course into marriage..

I too, have made a decision... and this decision is, "Jesus is enough for me." If God has a guy out there for me, YAY! If not... then I will let Him be my numero Uno!

Having crushes on guys is senseless...it doesn't really lead you anywhere unless you are lucky. Not to mention I believe that dating someone in high school is also a huge waste of time, more often than not, those relationships don't last.

Psalms 139 is an awesome Bible passage concerning this... ^_^

That is very true..Sometimes we forget that those kinds of relations come and go,but God is eternal...

but anyway,Great idea.I'm doing the same this year too.

(that was my two cents for the day)
