Just picked this up for my DS and I must say I'm thoroughly impressed.

It's like they took elements from all the CV games, threw in a bit of Super Metroid, added a touch of RPG elements, and in a nutshell improved upon the monster soul system which was already great.

Has anyone else been able to try this amazing DS game? I'd have to rank it in the top tier of DS games out right now (Basically Advance Wars DS and Mario 64 DS in my oppinion, now this too of course.)

An excellent game that has defiantly had my excited attention for the last few days. Like Aria of Sorrow, I absolutely enjoy the surprising variety found in the weapons. -I also love the replay-value-adding soul collecting system, which still completely laughs at Circle of the Moon's esoteric card system and Harmony's limited magic system.

One of my favorite things is somewhat subtle, though. That is the use of the DS's top screen as a map and aquick way to display your stats (more importantly exp). This, meshed with faster load time, really keeps the action going.

However, I do have a few minors complains.... First, I really dislike the change of art style for the character portraits. It’s cheesy and unfitting of the Castlevania realm, if you ask me. And second, I was disappointed by the use of the DS’s touch screen. While the guiding familiars and breaking ice cubes is all right, the magic seal drawing throws me off. Quickly changing from the button mashing boss fights to the stylus is cumbersome and stops the action.

Nevertheless, this doesn’t at all deter me from playing.

It's not on the top of my immediate list, but I'll probably pick this up before the end of the year or early next year. It looks from my vantage point to be similar to Symphony of the Night. I'm hoping DOS holds a larger challenge than SOTN, which was way too easy.

Indeed. When you can kill the final boss in about eight hits, somethings a bit whacked. Still, it was a good game. ^-^

I found out that when you power up Alucard's shield (with the *something* rod) all you have to do is touch it to Dracula, hold the button, and all of his health drains in a matter of seconds. There isn't any repeated hitting actually required. When I beat the game, I was like, "Is that ALL there is?"
