Its a great movie! Underated and very complex. I liked it a lot. It also has a great cast. The chase scenes in the movie were also very well done.

Most definately... I still will attest to anyone that the car chases in Ronin are the best and most near to reality chases (gee they actually were DRIVINGduring them...no CG) I have ever seen. The shootouts are also very realistic. (guns kick, jam and run out of ammo, bystanders are hurt) It's not a fluffy action movie, but it's very enjoyable.

...whats in the case anyhoo Bigsleep? <<<not a spoiler

I suspect it was the lost 6 hours of Erich von Stroheim's silent movie Greed, a copy of the Necronomicon and a map to an alternate, less restrictive gateway to a certain geometrical formation in the Carribean.

In other words, I haven't the foggiest.

Off course whatever was in it is beside the point. It could have been anything (the head of Alfredo Garcia, a miniature Adolf Hitler on a bicycle) and it would not have changed the plot in any way (unless the plot was constructed around NOT opening it). Essentially, its just a macguffin . Nothing less.

Still, I suspect (seriously) its could have been (a) something like a minature nuclear device or a powerfull weapon or (b) it could have been just something used to lure the Jonathan Price character (Shamus) out of hiding.

It is definately a macguffin.

(a) possible but unlikely... it gets mighty rough treatment for being anything destructive or powerful (and by default fragile)
(b) I think thats what it was... especially considering the ending

That movie would have rocked so much more if there WAS a miniature Hitler in the case.

Off course - that would have taken the entire plot onto a whole other level.

I liked Secret of Nimh. It was cool
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone
And so hold on when there is nothing left in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' ...you'll be a Man, my son!

I'm a Secret of NIMH fan! It's one of the few works of American animation that give me hope for American animation, except that it was made the year I was born (1982) and there hasn't really been anything made here that approached that since then. Actually, most of the Don Bluth films were excellent (American Tail and All Dogs Go To Heaven but not their sequals, because the analogies are lost in them) but NIMH was the best, even though I disagree with the banning of animal testing, but now with only Human testing, it opened up work for a lot of people (to become test subjects) so I guess I can't complain too much, even though I know it has screwed some of them up... I mean, at least it gives them a chance to get back on their feet and get free medicine while they're at it, so it's a risk but it is something... That's not the point, of course, and it's just a big bunny trail... The point was, this movie was excelent... Beautiful animation, excelent story and characters, serious and dark and a model that should be the one to follow for American animators in present time, though they don't...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evcNPfZlrZs Watch this movie なう。 It's legal, free... And it's more than its premise. It's not saying Fast Food is good food. Just watch it.

my favorite movie is the 10nth kingdom but i dont know if u guys have heard of it
The Letter from God Dear child, Despite your silence, I have heard your soul weeping. Why have you been so unhappy? Have you forgotten my everlasting love for you? Child, you are mine. Why have you not called my name sooner? If you seek me, I will answer. I am your counselor, ready to instruct you and show you which path to take. When you come to me, I will embrace you and silence all your fears. Just remember that I am here to hold you close and dry your tears. I will always be right beside you. Not only am I your father, but your best friend. Do not be afraid to ask for my mercy and forgiveness. I know that its hard to live on earth, so I understand when you fall down once in awhile, ask me for help, and I will pick you up and carry you. No one loves you more than I do. When you feel alone, remember I am beside you. When you feel helpless, remember I offer myself to you. When you feel lost, remember I will lead you, and when you feel forgotten, remember that you are my child and I will love you unconditionally. It is never too late to come home. I will be here waiting, ready to embrace you. I will leave the light on for you. Forever with you, God
