Final Fantasy VIII (In comparison to other FFs)

I enjoyed FF8 for what it was. Not the best, but a pretty fun way to pass the time. However, I stopped paying attention to the "plot" after

But, yeah, that's one of the plot points that people tend to criticize Final Fantasy VIII for...

Actually i considered that a possibility. However, the game never says one way or the other.

[spoiler]They do mention that Raine had a baby when Laguna was away. But not what happened to the baby. i think it was Squall. My one friend said no the other yes. The game just doesn't say. But why else would Squall always be connected to Laguna. And why do they remeble one another.[/spoiler]

Yes, Squall is infact Laguna's son.

[SPOILER]On the Ragnarok, Kiros makes references about Squall's resemblance to his father.

Laguna tells Squall he wants to talk to him in private someday, also on the Ragnarok.

Ellone tells Squall (during a dream sequence, disc 3) that Raine wanted Laguna to see her new baby. Raine wasn't involved with anyone that we know of, UNTIL we see the ending, in which Laguna proposes to Raine, and we come to the conclusion that Raine's baby is Laguna's as well, which would be why she wanted Laguna to see him.

When Raine died, Ellone and Squall were sent to Edea's orphanage. Squall was closest with Ellone because she was his sister-figure, and had always taken care of him. She is not, however, Squall's real sister. We see during a dream sequence (beginning of disc 2) that Ellone's real parents are dead, and Raine has been taking care of Ellone instead.

I've no idea as to where anyone gets the idea that Laguna is Squall's uncle, however. We never hear of Laguna having a brother, and if that was the case, then Squall would have a brother or sister, who we also never hear about (not Ellone, I already explained how she fits into this).

As you can see, all of the evidence points to Laguna being Squall's father and Raine his mother. The game may never directly tell you, but with a little thought (and possibly playing the game 5+ times through *waves hand indicating that she has done this, teehee*), you can come to the obvious conclusion that I have just shown you. It's been a long time since I played FFVIII... I may not be able to go back to it, now... I mean, I can go back to the SNES games because the sprites don't bug me, but the crappy 3d stuff bugs me now that I'm used to PS2 and soon to be PS3 calibur... Of course, I played through Silent Hill 1, so I could give FFVIII a shot again...

As for Squall being Laguna's nephew/son? I never picked up on that at all... I remember really liking this game, so I may have to go back through it again... Then again, I won't have a PS much longer... *sigh*

Speaking of Ellone, what are people's opinions on her. I actually thought she was the coolest character in the game.

Ellone? I thought she was kinda annoying. Here she was, this enigma all throughout the game, and you finally get to the Space Station, and guess what? She doesn't really know anything! It kinda ticked me off, having to chase her around. But don't let that stop you from liking her.

Irvine is cool, but Squall is the best FF character. Ever.

Zell and Sephiroth are actually the best IMO. Let`s see Tomiroth or Tom Dincht....

Ok, the following spoiler is my theory:

[SPOILER] What we know is, that each GF is contained inside a ring. Squall`s ring that I think was passed through his family indeed contains griever. He gave the ring to Rinoa for keeps. She grows up and is blinded by evil because Squall dies and isn`t there to help her. She combines time and has to fight her past self while Squall is still alive. She has desires of killing Squall anyways by unleashing the spirit inside his ring. Squall almost dies, rinoa saves him and changes the past, End of Story. [/SPOILER]

Off Topic: I made these drawings where HomeStarunner is dressed up as every popular FF character, even BLK Mage. It`s hilarious. Sephiroth came out messed up.
