ou know how hard it is to keep a sniperrifle stable on a guys head on timesplitters 3? (any console) it's hard! Because the analog stick always moves around and when you fire you end up shooting past their head
Sniping is never easy and will not be easier with the revolution controller maybe even harder.

yes im 18 but im also a person in a hurry. i do use periods and stuff (though i love parentheses and use them often) and who cares about spelling, nobody likes a grammar nazi and unless something is misspelled to the point of "omgz newbzers zpe11ing." then leave it be...
Okay, okay. I wasn't trying to be rude, and I don't mind misspelling or punctuation, I'm just asking if you could split things when you type as much as you did earlier. It gets tricky to read.
Sniping is never easy and will not be easier with the revolution controller maybe even harder.

How can you tell?
I'd say compared to using an analog controller that sometimes flicks back compared to a real gun (or something you hold similarly to a gun), the gun is much easier to carry and aim with. I'm fairly good with rifles and pistols and I can aim quite well with it.
Besides that, you won't know if it'll be easier or not till you've tried it.

Sniping is VERY easy on a non-moving target in a PC game... sniping on ANY target is difficult on a console

you can probably move there the crosshair goes with your hand with the new rev controller..... It seems like it will be easier to snipe.... DEFINATELY not harder... its like holding a real gun, a nintendo zapper... it was easier to hit ducks with that than shoot Master Cheif in halo....

im syaing if you HOLD what you shoot... it will be easier than controlling what you shoot with a little analog stick

Put a sock in it, Sony fanboys. You know that the boomerang is an ugly piece of crap and Revolution is better. [/fanboyism]
But seriously. Make me a compiled list of what's bad about Revolution's controller, and I'll disprove everything on it, as long as it makes some sense, instead of just being "lolol iz u r3mut!11shift"

I had always been a N supporter, but I backed off after I fell in love with the PS... The Gamecube was a decent system, and I hate the X-box just because of the type of developers it attracts, or rather the type it doesn't... This new generation, unless that download service rocks my socks off, N has disappointed me too much, and I won't even bother with the Revolution... 360 is allready off my list, unless the port of FFXI ends up being more than a port and the screens I saw on the E3 thing are true... I may get a 360 just for FF11, but maybe not.

I would have considered the Revolution as a secondary system due to the price, but now I don't even think that's enough for me... Not just because of the controller, but that is another nail in the coffin... I hope they have a real controller too...

Also, I hate using the mouse/keyboard... A controller feels much more natural for me, and I have NO problem sniping with a controller, even a moving target... Also, the Revolution is the bottom in the power department, just speaking purely specs here... PS3 is on the top, and they have blueray (30 gig games!) and I can use a dual-shock 2! So, who cares about the boomerang. Actually, it's ugly, but it's wireless and the batter lasts all day and is rechargeable... Plus, there are third party controllers!

Nope, the revolution is going to have to work some magic to draw my support.

The 360 has tons of Japanese support, not as much as Sony of course but they've improved their credibility there tenfold with devs, publishers, press, and consumers alike. We don't even know what the specs of the Revolution are much less what the final design will be. We haven't even seen any games from it yet. A bit premature there...

Considering the "best keyboard/mouse sniper" is probably someone who's been obsessively playing FPS games since wolfenstein, and we've only really had since Halo to hone our modern 2 analog stick controller skills, that's not entirely fair... However, people who started on Consoles with optional mice and keyboards at the same time as people paying something like Halo normally, yeah.. The controller guys win.

That was not my point, anyhow. My point is some people just do better alltogether with controllers than with mice and keyboards. Some people such as me... I can't play with KB and mouse... I just can't...

it depends on what you play and enjoy more... not cause you are naturally bad at it. You pick up some PC FPSes and you'll get better in time

Um, couldn't it just be said that we have our preferences as well? I have played with keyboards and mice... I played wolfenstein over 10 years ago! I played Doom and some more recent games as well... Then there are all the non-FPS games I played with keyboards... I hate using a keyboard to play games, plain and simple... Keep using the KB and mouse for your FPS games. I don't care. I just don't like them for games... Except for point and click games like myst, that is...

And, I DO better with a controller than with KB and mouse... You can deny it all you want, but I do. And I'm not a bad sniper with a controller, either.

I have to fit in along the category of being better at a controller. My hand is constantly slightly shaking it used to be barely noticeable (but since the incident at my school its bad and it does seem to be getting any better) I used to when I shot (irl with guns not light guns or mouses (which i have never been good at)) take the shot when the gun twitched over the target, but i'm not sure if i can even shoot anymore (i have been afraid to try).

Also i know other people who have similar problems, these people (including me) would prefer a controller. The only thing a keyboard can do better then a controller is have more possible buttons and actions of the buttons (i dont think bf2 could possibly be played well not on the comp but i still wish i could have a controller for it).

And on the subject of graphics lets talk half life 2 and bf2. would either of those games be AS good with bad or average graphics? half life 2 would only stand out in its game mechanics (which would get it some merit but overall it would probably have been overlooked because of halo 2 (sayin if hl2 would have had b ad graphics and halo 2 would have had the same it does now)) secondly i think that bf2 would not be near as popular if they hadnt have pushed the graphics.

Doom3 is another. Would anyone have sat up and said "Hey this is really cool" without its looks? In shooting mechanic terms its just another fps but its graphics are what set it out (though i think games like halo 2 if they had crappy graphics would still be played due to how good the multiplayer is).

As i touched on earlier you the only games that graphics wouldnt have pushed forward are the multiplayer games that are so fun. Why you ask? Well its due to the fact that they have more life then just the crappy single player, plus its with your freinds.

So will graphics push certain systems? Yes. Will graphics give a system a longer shelf life? Yes. Technology is constantly being pushed forward and soon it will get to the point with hdtv that it has come to with the vhs and dvd. One is very much better and when the tech is perfected enough to lower the price people will gravitate away from the old to the new. That is part of why Sony is cutting there profit on the ps3 to get it out there. To push the tech to play blue ray (or however its spelled) and hdtv players they are essentially opening up the door to hdtv to the common man and when it goes down in price i see more people buying it. (so ins hort graphics matter...)

Lets take a look at the ps2 vs the xbox or gamcube

because the ps2 was released earlier, its hardware specs were not as par as the gamcube and the mighty xbox. So when we had multiplatform games or tri-platform games, did the fact that the ps2 wasnt as "graphically upgraded" its gonna be the crappiest version of all? No!

THe hardware/graphic specs from the revolution are not that far from the ps3 or the 360.... we are not comparing a playstation to an SNES, we are comparing SNES to Genesis

True but the reason the ps2 did so well is they did the best at getting 3rd party games created more then the others. That is how the ps2 was so sucesfull, if it wouldnt have had that and only had in house games (like a system we know, seriously they need to get more 3rd party or they are going to have trouble) they would have failed and the gc and xbox would have totally dominated the market.

I know that some people are bashing the controller just because it's "cool," but a lot of us are seriously concerned Nintendo fans that think Nintendo is making a HUGE mistake with this.

Ask anyone who knows me, I've been saying for months I'll buy a Revolution the day it comes out. Now, I'm having second thoughts. This isn't the first time Nintendo has made a stupid decision that cost them. I'm looking at you, lack of support for online play for Gamecube and Virtual Boy.

Granted, neither of those caused Nintendo to lose any substantial amount of money, and Nintendo still rules the handheld world, but I'm worried Nintendo is too focused on being "different" instead of making decent products.

I talked to a couple of people who don't play video games at all, and showed them the Revolution controller, and you know what their response was? "You've got to be kidding, right?"

If Nintendo is trying to cater to "casual gamers," as they put it, then apparently this controller is having the opposite effect than they intended. Granted, I didn't ask every non-gamer in my area, but if the ones I did ask are any indication, Nintendo is going the wrong way.

Again, I'm just glad there's going to be a socket for a normal Gamecube controller.

P.S. As for the person who said "Give me a list of complaints and I'll disprove any of them," I say this. The buttons on the controller are too far away from the d-pad. Unless I hold the controller with two hands, which would be awkward.

The A and B buttons on the bottom are only if you want to turn the controller 90 degrees and use it as an NES controller. The B trigger and the primary A button do the same time. And the D-pad is plenty close to those.

okay, since when did Sony make 1st party games? Like never.... they relied only ON third party material...

and like half of MY gamcube games are 3rd party... and they are awesome. Just cause Nintendo puts more emphasis on 1st party games doesn't mean their 3rd party games suck...

Wait, that makes no sense. If I turned it 90 degrees, the A and B buttons wouldn't be on the bottom. They would be on the same horizontal level as the d-pad, like a regular NES controller, which I'm quite familiar with and prefer. I'm talking about when you hold it like a TV remote.

When you're holding it like a TV remote, the B button is a trigger, and the A button is by your thumb. The second set is there for the sole purpose or turning it 90 degrees and using it like an NES controller.

In shooting mechanic terms its just another fps but its graphics are what set it out (though i think games like halo 2 if they had crappy graphics would still be played due to how good the multiplayer is).
But once everyone actually played it, they realized that it was just another FPS.
As i touched on earlier you the only games that graphics wouldnt have pushed forward are the multiplayer games that are so fun. Why you ask? Well its due to the fact that they have more life then just the crappy single player, plus its with your freinds.
According to your argument, Metal Gear Solid was inferior in every way to MGS2, because a) it has crappier graphics, and b) it is single player. That also infers that Ocarina of Time was inferior to Wind Waker and Super Mario world was inferior to Mario 64 which was inferior to Mario Sunshine. That Final Fantasy IV is inferior to Final Fantasy IX and Starcraft is inferior to Warcraft III.

The problem with relying on better graphics to push games is that there will be a point when the improvements will be so minute that graphics just don't matter any more. Let us assume that in the near future, graphics have improved to the point of photorealism rendered in real time and that doing so is standard. You can't have graphics that are better than real. At that point, those companies who have worked on gameplay mechanics will have a huge advantage over those who have only pushed graphics.

Look at the DS vs the PSP. The PSP is all about the hardware, whereas the DS is all about exploring the possibilities of the new gameplay mechanics offered through the second screen and the touch screen. The PSP has not offered any new gameplay mechanics, only the same games that you can now take anywhere.

What I'm saying is that there will come a day when graphics cannot be improved. What will Microsoft and Sony (who are pushing the hardware aspect of things, boasting 1094758093275398207529 GHz and 1037508571011305731075175091 polygons in a scene) do in a gaming market after Nintendo has invested in games and gameplay?

Sony has lost every other time in the media department, but the PS3 is a great trojan... It would be cool if they could play HD-DVDs too, I don't have the PS3 specs on hand to know if it does...

Provided I don't save my money for something more responsible, I'll be supporting Sony in this venture... I'd love HD movies, and I'd love to see blu ray take off... It sorta has to, eventually, even if a different format of it does than Sony's... Actually, does Sony even own blu-ray? I didn't think they did...
