Role Models?

Postby Myoti » Thu Sep 15, 2005 4:34 pm

Who are your role models?

I'd have to say my first would be Jesus Christ, of course, then Shigeru Miyamoto (creator of many Nintendo franchises) and Monkey D. Luffy (I'm serious; you'd be surprised how much you can really learn from this guy).

Aside from Jesus....

My grandfather. He's the one that helped me become stronger in my faith. He was always there to answer my questions.

Also I would say David Copperfield. He does what he loves (magic) and inspires people in the process. He also does a lot of volunteer work at children hospitals. He makes people happy and that's what I like about him.

My first role model is Yeshua.
Secondly would have to be my family, and third probably Jennifer Garner who starred as Elektra in the two Marvel movies "Daredevil" and "Elektra" because she is seems so nice and likes hockey. I was a little bit disgusted with the fact that she married Ben Aflick and is pregnant but that's subsided a little now. I think Yamaguchi Kappei is a good role model but he's harder to follow because he's a guy, I have a lot of role models and I don't feel like listing them all to bore the crowd.

I also really look up to David. He was a Very Godly man. I try to follow the example except of course being a Godly woman.
I agree Talame, Paul was also a very worthy and Godly man.
I also liked Peter. He trusted and followed the Lord a lot through journeys.

Interesting choice. Why him? (He's the Japanese VA for Ranma-kun, among other things, for those unfamiliar.)

Because he's hilarious, a nice person, great voice and actually is a lot older than he looks (not neccessarily one of the reasons that he is one of my favorite voice actors) And I've liked everything he's been in.

My Grandfather is my biggest role model.

One person who I think we must learn lessons form, (though not use as a rolemodel) is James Buchanan, the 15th predident of the united states. He was the ultimate example of trying to make everyone happy at once. He ended up starting the civil war. He was however a very moral and good man. I try to remember that even with the best of intentions things can go wrong if you are not firm on issues of right and wrong.

well. that was a little bit off topic I guess, but when I think of role models I think of James Buchanan,
my reminder-model-guy. <--(thats not even a word I dont think)

Richard Cox is one of my role models, probably because he's kind of the underdog when it comes to the voice acting business. Most people don't really like him very much. ^^;;;

Aside from Jesus,
My Parents and Grandparents, they have all gone through and done so much I respect them and love them more each day (both Grandfathers are gone though).
Jenny Thompson (swimming) just cause she is still so into her sport despite her age (which is old for a swimmer).
Also, Barlow girls, they are awesome and stand for alot that our society needs today.

I never had a role-model as a child. I can't say why in all honesty. I have a lot of role models today that I try to follow in one way or another.

• Christ - Great Role Model for all
• CS Lewis: A great Christian who used his brain to defend our common Faith in an age when it was under particular assault.
• GK Chesterton: Another great Christian who also fought against the early 20th century problems like eugenics, socialism and German nihilism.
• Johnny Cash: "Everyone knows he's a sissy compared to Johnny Cash" - Bono.
• Akira Kurosawa: He wasn't a Christian, but he made great movies. That's someone to look up to.

*Samson=Yes,I know there's a lot of overemphasis on the way that he
pratically broke all of the Nazarite vows his parents made for him but he
also was one of the few Jews in his day who stood steadfastly for God when
all over Israel people were bowing to idols, plus he stood up to the Philistines
when most everyone else was scared of them.

*Robert E. Lee=Stood firmly by his homestate even when tempted with
the command of the entire Union army.

*Joan of Arc=Obeyed God's message even though others thought she
was either mad or demon possessed.

Another role model I have is Martin Luther King Jr. He was such an amazing man who spoke out against racism and descrimination, not only against the people who hated Black people but he spoke for everyone, of all colors and races. I really look up to that man because he was brave and Godly, he spoke against the defective morals of the world when nobody else would and I believe God really spoke through him a lot. I really admire him a lot.
Also Job from the Bible. He was a very wise man and went through many things, the whole time he was down he prayed and asked God for help. I really respect him for how he did that. Elijah from the Bible is always someone from the Bible that I really liked. He did as God said and was an amazing believer. Ruth was an amazing woman who believed and did as God said everywhere she went. There are so many people from the Bible that I respected so much for their worship and faithfulness to Yeshua.

Wow, looking at my list compared to the others... XP
I guess C.S. Lewis is one I'd have to rate up there as well (probably cuz I actually understand his non-Narnia books quite well...).

I try to remember that even with the best of intentions things can go wrong if you are not firm on issues of right and wrong.

That tends to be the reasons many wars starts, even by those we might think were incredibly evil (like Hitler, Napoleon, or Alexander the Great).

I would have to say that besides Christ, William Lane Craig and my maths teacher from high school come to mind.

Bill Craig is a good apologist, and at the same time does answer his opponents with respect (as far as I can tell). My maths teacher was firm but always friendly. She was a very responsible teacher that garnered respect from her class by teaching and interacting well with her students.
