Boss Battles

Postby Azier the Swordsman » Fri Nov 28, 2003 6:16 pm

Post some of your favorite video game boss battles! Here are a few off the top of my head:

Sly Cooper vs. Ms. Ruby

OMG! This has got to be one of the funnest and most creative boss battles I've ever played in a platformer. Basically, she shoots mojo at you in the form of the PS2 buttons. You have to "keep to the rythem" as you head toward her and press each button exactly as the mojo flies toward you. At the end, you get a chance to pummel Ms. Ruby. Repeat a few more times.

Super Sonic vs. Perfect Chaos

I love this one! As Super Sonic, fly toward Perfect Chaos while dodging beam projectiles, water twisters, ect. and gain enough speed to fly up Perfect Chaos and pummel his face.

{You and 17 party members vs. Luca Blight}

Basically, you fight him in three different parties. Flick and Viktor are mandatory and lead the other two parties. Get your strongest fighters out. All above lv. 35, weapons at lv. 8. Make sure that Flick can do 'Thors Hammer' at least once. Give the best fighters to the Hero's party. Luca's got 6,000 HP, and Magic does half the damage. You can lose the first two fights, but you have to win the third. You can take his HP down 2,000 points for the first two fights before he runs off.

{Jill vs. The Nemisis}

Pound on him with everything you've got. You usually have no room to dodge so hit him hard and fast.

At the moment I can think of...

Cloud and party vs. Seraph Sephiroth (FF7)

Einhander vs. Hyperion (Einhander)

Samus vs. Mother Brain (Super Metroid)

Jehuty vs. Anubis (ZOE 2)

Raiden vs. Metal Gear Rays (MGS2)

Hey, the Sephiroth battles are quite easy in FFVII with one thing: the Knights of the Round materia and the Mime/Mimic materia.

The first battle with Sephiroth usually ends after one KotR and one mime of it. One casting of KotR and three or four mimes beats him the second time. Seriously, you can win this battle in less time than it takes for a pizza to arrive. :)

just finished playing a game called Amaranth 4. the boss is seriously easy, yet so difficult. i started with 10 of my people and only 3 lasted with minimal health. of course, the enemy all had area effect magic, and there was 30+ of them, but still.

and don't forget Chrono Triggers' endings! love them all, maybe except one that doesn't really do anything interesting.

nah, i punched Diablo in D2 to death once. yes, it was level 80ish barbarian who was supposedly be killing Diablo in Hell level not Normal, but i did anyway.

now versing Diablo in Tristram from D1... with a Fighter, now that's a battle. spells won't do much... so feel my sword in your gut Diablo! (not head, he's much taller than a human)

Tidus and party vs. His dad as the ultimate summon

Even though I am not a big fan of that game, that has to be one of the best boss battles ever.

The Diablo 2 battles were always hard for me, because my computer at the time was slow. It basically went: walk up to boss, lag, dead. Not fun, although I did like the game as a whole.

Now for my favorite boss battles:
Raven (your character in Armored Core) vs. Ares

Akuma vs. Gen-This was the boss battle for Akuma in SFA 2. For some reason, I always had trouble with it.

Jack vs. Kyorta (Robotech: Battlecry)-two aces going head-to-head. Gotta love it. :thumb: The final boss is boring by comparison.

Falcon vs. Valgas-Power Stone

Gan Ning (or anyone) vs. Lu Bu-not really a boss, but he is a phenom in one of the levels that you can fight if you want a challenge. Gan Ning is just my favorite Dynasty Warriors general.

Mitsurugi, Nightmare, or Astaroth vs. Inferno (Soul Calibur 1/2)

And you can't forget the most important one:
Me vs. my friends (any game) :thumb:

I suppose the overarching theme of all of these is that they are 1-on-1 battles where you are in complete control over your character. I like the whole "duel" scenario.

The first boss battle from Jet Force Gemini (on the N64) was pretty cool. Reminded me of some of the "boss" battles from Zelda on the 64.

The final battle(s) in the N64 Zelda.

Some of the boss battles from MGS2 where good (come on Bob... you're slacking here! :D )

The final battle with K'Rool (or however it's spelled) in DK64! Talk about a unique battle (and funny).

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Ooh, yes, that is a good battle. Pretty difficult though... I gave up first time round, and did all the "munchkin quests". Went back in with a seriously beefed up party :D

<TR3 - the Turantula Dude - This man had mad skills, 2 minutes of UZI rounds and he'd fall down for 1 minute, you'd have to get 1/4 artifacts from their mini-caves and run back to the center circle where he's at because he'd re-awaken. Until you get all 4/4 artifacts he'd keep coming back to life, If you stay in the cave you're trapped. You can only run around in a circle in the center part of the cavern your in. If you run off the edge or try to run away, there's lava all around, If you don't run fast enough he'll catch up with you, If you slow down while shooting to try and NOT fall off the edge into the lava, this mad-man would throw green spiritual-spit at you. It was crazy!>

I know what you mean.....

Well, I always like, <Chris/Jill vs. The TYRANT!>
