dawn of war + zonealarm

Postby skynes » Tue Sep 06, 2005 8:03 am

Im trying to get Dawn of war to work online.

I can get to the lobby but when I try to join a game Im told it cant connect to the host.

When I disable Zonealarm, it works fine.
When I enable Zonealarm, it no longer works.

I know nothing of configuring Firewalls.

I found http://www.portforward.com/cports.htm this site and followed what it said for configuring ports, but it still doesnt work...

Any thoughts?

In ZoneAlarm, under Program Control, where you see the list of programs that can connect, click "add" at the very bottom.

Then, in the box that comes up, go to your game directory, and select the main EXE.

Allow both access and server rights for the game. (click on the blue '?' and the list of options will come up.)

If that doesn't work, try setting it to learning mode only for as long as it takes you to connect, join a game, and quit - then set it back to normal. (Alternately, if you are able to alt+tab out while it's trying to connect, you might be able to catch ZoneAlarm's question dialog. But that's a matter of how strongly the game grabs control.) (you set learning mode in the main tab of the program control section)
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

or you could go drastic measures, and go into your router, and open the ports that the game needs, and that the firewall closes

If disabling ZoneAlarm makes it work, I doubt that the problem is in a router.

1. I don't have a router.

2. WH40K has total access in ZoneAlarm. It's allowed complete access to send and receive and act as a server.

3. I have caught the pop-up and allowed it access.

4. I have opened all the ports in Zone Alarm.

With Zone Alarm on, I can host games and people can join, but I can't join any...
