I think the fact that FFVII DOES have such a strong fanbase means that the movie could be crap, and they'd still snap it up.

According to the newest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will not be released in North America in September as previously reported.

Instead, EGM reports that Advent Children will be released "this holiday season." No further details about the date are mentioned.

Details about the release are however included in the article. There will be two releases, a single disc UMD release and a 2-disc Special Edition DVD. The 2-disc set will include extra trailers, bonus features and behind-the-scenes material, but not Last Order Final Fantasy VII. The short Last Order OAV will be included in the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Ultimate Edition, which will retail for 29,500 yen (~US$270) and is to be released on September 14.

I can't really say that FFVIII was the best FF, but I can say it was the one I enjoyed the most. I liked how the characters moved the plot along, instead of the plot moving the characters. FFIX was kinda like that too.

FF: Spirits Within flopped bigtime in the U.S., but Advent Children isn't the same; for one thing, it's building off of a story that we all know. And for another, FF7 fans are psychotic. They're almost as bad as LotR fans. They might even buy multiple copies to ensure it doesn't flop.

I'm sure it'll do very well, I just hope [spoiler]THAT AERIS IS STILL DEAD!! BWAHAHAHAHA![/spoiler] (Oh, c'mon, it's not really a spoiler anymore. The games been out for nearly 10 years.)

The Japanese not being big on FFVIII's realism has to do with the art style. And the reasons for that are the culture over there. Graphics aren't the most important thing ever for gaming over there. That's because of culture too. It has to do with the types of games they're into over there. That's why the Xbox is failing in Japan.

I agree with Myoti. Realistic only can go so far in what can be done, while stylized art is incredibly flexable and much more visually entertaining in most cases.

I mean as far as FF games go, I thought Chocobo boy was cooler than chocobo Moogle. I mean if it wasn`t for the unrealistic where would the 'fantasy' be? FFVIII maybe should`ve stood alone outside the series but there would be two major bad things:

1. It would be less popular.
2. Squall would not have been in Kingdom Hearts. He was awesome in that game unlike Sephiroth`s voice. Lance Bass.....Come on.

FF8 - the story was good, the graphics out of combat were good, but i though were rather poor in combat in alot of places, what i found to be the main downfall of the game was the draw & GF systems, really to beat the game you need to depend pretty much totally on GF's for a good chunk of the game, and i never really got used to the draw system, comparitively i liked it alot better than FF9, howver my all time fave has got to be FF7, though you could probably tell that from my username, lol.

I enjoyed FF8 for what it was. Not the best, but a pretty fun way to pass the time. However, I stopped paying attention to the "plot" after

And I found it hard to enjoy the love story because I didn't like Rinoa or Squall.
