Which Game Scenes Made You Cry? *Spoilers!*

Postby CookinLikeSanji » Fri Sep 02, 2005 3:41 am

Marked spoilers for the obvious reason that this topic most likely will have loads of them...

I was inspired to make this topic after seeing the "What Movies Made You Cry?" one. Because to me, games are just as, if not more emotionally attaching than movies. (Even if you haven't cried during a game, say what game you were very attached to emotionally)

The first and only time I've ever cried playing a game is from Metal Gear Solid 3.

***I Said Spoilers Already! You've Been Warned!***

Killing The Boss. For those of you who have beaten the game, you know what I'm talking about. Standing over a beaten Boss with her own Patriot held to her head by the very man she trained with for years. Having to pull the trigger during that scene was the hardest thing I ever had to do in a game. I sat there for at least 5 minutes, not pressing a button, wanting a cutscene to play where I didn't have to kill her...

Then I knew I had to. I did it, I cried. If you've listened to all the radio convo's and carefully paid attention throughout the entire game about the info on The Boss, who she was and how great of a person she was, you would (and probably do if you've done all of that) feel the same way I did.

That scene will forever be in my mind.
Cosplays Planned for Anime Vegas and PMX

Inuyasha (Inuyasha) - 0%
Kakashi (Naruto) - 0%
Komui (D.Gray-Man) - 0% (Not for AV/PMX - Starting Early for Anime Los Angeles)

I know precisely what you mean. That scene and the long cut-scene at the end about it was the most amazing thing in a game I've ever seen.

As for other scenes that've made me cry... I'll have to think about that.

The ending of Kingdom Hearts made me cry. There's a death scene in Silent Hill IV that also made me cry, but mainly because of the incredibly sad song that was playing.

I cry everytime I see the end of FFX. Also Kingdom Hearts made me cry as did disk 1 of FFVII and there were parts of the Xenosaga series that have made me cry.

The end of Terranigma. I don't know why, but everything that happens and mixing in the music during the last scene... it was just the closest I've ever gotten to crying on a game.
The end of Final Fantasy 9, where Kuja dies in the Iifa Tree. Well, that part made me cry in sadness. I shed some happy tears finding out that Puk was alive and when Zidane came back for Garnet. ^^
Black & White, when my profile got corrupted and I couldn't get the patch to apply (even after an uninstall/reinstall - it said the game "wasn't installed") and I realized that until I took seriously drastic action (or wasted a good bit of time figuring out why the patch didn't see the game), I would be stuck having to go through the painfully long, insultingly basic, and excruciatingly "interactive" opening.

I felt like I wanted to either cry or kill something. Well, preferably the latter.
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

Gaaaasp.....
I almost cried at the end of FFVIII...Eeeeeek!!! When Rinoa thinks that Squall is dead, and then she hugs him...GYAA!! IT'S SO SWEEEEET!!! And then poor Laguna at Raine's grave...But the best part still comes after the credits, when we see that Squall is, infact, still alive! Hehehe, I love that game! n.n
Michael, I agree about that part in Grandia II. :( Gosh, the game didn't feel quite the same after that.
I also got a bit misty-eyed when Ryuudo had that flashback about Melfice and his fiance. And when Melfice died. >.<; MELFICE, WHY?!
Xenogears
Alice seemed like the kind of Non Playable Character that would`ve been in love with Fei. Sort of like Ashley`s girl in Wild Arms 2. But then she died....but timothy`s death was so predictable.
Grandia II
When Mareg died I almost cried...he was my strongest character with a lot of hp. I wanted Roan or Elena to die.
Grandia Xtreme
The whole storyline. just sad and not the tear kind, just sad... compared to the average RPG
LOZ: The Minish cap
Time to shrink!
When my little brother somehow erased my entire SSBM save file. ;o;

Um, Tom, why would shrinking in the Minish Cap make you sad?

Yeah, I don't understand either... o.O

Well, anyway...
The scene where Rena finds out the truth about her mother, and that Rena herself is from 65 million years ago and was sent into the future via an enormous time jump

Okay, I admit it. When Tidus started vanishing in front of Yuna and she tried to hug him and fell through him, I cried a bit.
The ending of Kingdom Hearts made me cry too.

Also, the ending of Arc the Lad 2.

I know there's more than this, but I can't remember them at the moment. Sorry. :\
This game definitely had it's sad moments. Vivy pretty much has a sad and depressing life all through.

All of them had some really sad stuff in the plots. SH2's 'Water' ending was really hard to watch. SH3 was pretty sad too; like when you find Harry dead in the apartment. That was just depressing.

This game's plot is really just one big tragedy up until the end. I thought it was sad that Krelian chose to keep tormenting himself over Sohpia's death.
That one scene in that one game where the supporting character gets killed and tells the main character to beat the crap out of the bad guy...

...which was what they were trying to do for the past 40 hours of gameplay.

Yeah, that one. Great stuff.
