I never did finish 8, but I've heard 'The Extreme' before and I must say it is the best FF song to date IMO. Goes to show how much of a music master Nobuo really is.

Darn, I wish I`d pay more attention. Well, I better go play through FF8 again, oh yeah I decided to do that 2 months ago and got stuck on Cerebus. i know Cerebus is optional but he is a highly needed GF.

I could never beat Tiamat. My Players just couldn`t handle it so I couldn`t get Eden.

Plus, I think Cactuar is the best summon because of the Kamikazi ability which is the previous poster`s username spelled bacwards. Unless it`s spelled Kamakazi...then it`s close. No seriously, do Kamikaze twice on most bosses and they`ll die depending on whom you use. With Squall I did 300,000 damage, but when you use it you can`t use that character for the rest of the battle and I couldn`t sarcrifice him in the last one and it did like 10,000 damage with everyone else.......GRRR!

You can get Eden from Ultima Weapon, too. Of course, it you couldn't beat Tiamat, you'll have no such luck against that guy...

Nobou left Square after FF10. That`s why the music in FF10-2 stunk so much. That means he`s not leaving Square-Enix. That means he left Squaresoft.

Now we`re all explained why the music in FFX-2...wasn`t good. Well, some tracks were okay. I heard he was the composer for star Ocean III but that could also be a lot of BS1 or BS2.

Yes, The Extreme was a mighty fine piece. And so is Zeromus. Everyone must listen to the Black Mages' version of it. Totally rocks.

I'd say the possibility of an FFVIII sequel or prequel is quite low, considering Japanese gamers weren't quite impressed with the more realistic visuals, which is part of the reason why FFIX went back to sort of less realistic looking characters.

Actually this timescale dosn't quite jive since Nobuo wrote music for FF XI and the Advent Children movie... and was still assoc. with Sq. Enx. about a year and a half ago and the concert I went to... since he was there... with the reast of the FF creators...

Yeah especially since the Ultimate Weapon is alot harder. I had no trouble with him. I was adventureous and didn't try him until I was at level 100. =D And he went down!! Eden is fun. Especially with the devour command. . Except the summoning fotage is super long. You can boost Eden and still have time to spare.

*coughs*
Nobuo Uematsu went freelance. Just like Yasunori Mitsuda, Yoko Shimomura, Hitoshi Sakimoto, Noriyuki Iwadare, Motoi Sakuraba, Kenji Ito and quite a few other game composers are all freelance. That does not at all mean that Uematsu will never again work on a Square-Enix game. It just means that he is free to work on games for other game companies as well.

Nobou left Square after FF10. That`s why the music in FF10-2 stunk so much. That means he`s not leaving Square-Enix. That means he left Squaresoft.

No, he didn't. He did some of the tracks for the online Final Fantasy XI. He announced that he was going freelance after the merger...so I have no idea where you got the logic that he left Squaresoft but not Square-Enix.
...

Plus, Square-Enix is one company now, not two companies under one management. So, if he leaves one, he will leave them both.

Now we`re all explained why the music in FFX-2...wasn`t good. Well, some tracks were okay. I heard he was the composer for star Ocean III but that could also be a lot of BS1 or BS2.

No. Motoi Sakuraba composed the soundtrack for Star Ocean 3. His stuff is pretty easy to recognize, especially since his works have all started to sound the same...
The man needs to take a break...

I beat Ultima Weapon. I never got around to beating Omega Weapon however. I think that I did most of the other sidequest stuff, except that card thing.

Omega Weapon isn't so bad. I did all the side quest eccept the cards and the rocks with faces. Oh and I didn't do the UFO one either. I saw 2 UFO's one carrying off a cow and the other carrying off something weird.

Apparently you have to find I think 4. ANd then you get to meet the alien. I'm not entirely sure. But the cow was weird.

That means he`s not leaving Square-Enix. That means he left Squaresoft.

The point is he's gone, meaning FF may not get his beautiful music anymore. Of course, he did design one of the tracks for FF XII (the intro).

Also, the original director has left and made his own company, Mistwalker. Yeah, I'd say the FFs may end up having a bit of trouble from now on. -_-

That does not at all mean that Uematsu will never again work on a Square-Enix game. It just means that he is free to work on games for other game companies as well.

Yeah, that's what I meant. We'll probably get to here some of his stuff every now and then on a FF, but it's not completely him anymore. It wasn't completely him on FFX, either. I mean, the other tracks were great on that game, but they just didn't have that same... feel, anymore.

Technically, I don't think Hironobu Sakaguchi has truly worked on a Final Fantasy for quite some time. The "Executive Producer" thing that wound up on a lot of recent Square titles was more honorary than anything else. He looked over and "approved" the games and offered advice or whatever but that's about it.
I could be mistaken...but that's what I've heard from some places.

Yeah, that's what I meant. We'll probably get to here some of his stuff every now and then on a FF, but it's not completely him anymore. It wasn't completely him on FFX, either. I mean, the other tracks were great on that game, but they just didn't have that same... feel, anymore.

Actually, Uematsu didn't compose the entire soundtrack for Final Fantasy X. A number of the tracks were done by Masashi Hamauzu(Chocobo's Dungeon, SaGa Frontier 2, Musashi: Samurai Legend) and Junya Nakano(Threads of Fate, Musashi: Samurai Legend). So, if some of the tracks didn't "feel" like Uematsu to you, it might be because they weren't by Uematsu at all...

Remember, not all soundtracks are done by just one person. Uematsu hasn't done a completely solo soundtrack since Final Fantasy IX.

Omega Weapon isn't so bad. I did all the side quest eccept the cards and the rocks with faces. Oh and I didn't do the UFO one either. I saw 2 UFO's one carrying off a cow and the other carrying off something weird.

UFO one? I don't even remember that one. Well...I might vaguely remember something about it....but I don't think I did it. It's been a long time since I've played Final Fantasy VIII.

Um..MasterDias, Myoti said that Nobou ddin`t compose al of FF10 to start with. The opening for FFX-2 was very good. Did Nobou do Xenogears? I just felt his work in that town Nisan. It was so good. It reminded me of Eyes on Me.

I hated how FFX-2 had a different theme for chocobos. Does this mean the chocobo theme for FFXII will be like that?

Heh. No, that was actually Yasunori Mitsuda. Mitsuda is best know for composing the soundtrack on Xenogears, Xenosaga: Episode 1, most of Chrono Trigger, and Chrono Cross. His works often take a very Celtic feel. He's a personal favorite of mine and Xenogears' Small Two of Pieces and Chrono Cross' Radical Dreamers are two of my favorite RPG vocal pieces.

I hated how FFX-2 had a different theme for chocobos. Does this mean the chocobo theme for FFXII will be like that?

*shrugs*
I don't know. I don't remember what the chocobo theme for FF X-2 is actually.
I guess it's, at least partly, up to FF XII's composer, Hitoshi Sakimoto...

Oh, I had just read in a magazine somewhere that someone important had left...

Well, yes.
Sakaguchi is "someone important" who left. However, I simply don't think he has had as big a role in recent Square games as many people think.
He may have had some sort of falling out with others at Square-Enix....
I don't think his superiors were very happy when the expensive Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within turned into a major financial flop.

That remains to be seen, but I have high hopes that it will do well, being a sequal to the ever so popular Final Fantasy VII.
It has many things going for it that Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within did not have at all.

Probably Final Fantasy Tactics or Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. He has also composed Vagrant Story, Breath of Fire V, and many other games... Complete discography is here.

FF7 has the strongest fanbase of all the FF's, so I highly doubt it will be a flop, unless the movie were to really, really suck.
