The Hurricane

Postby Slater » Sun Aug 28, 2005 8:40 am

I'm just about as far away from it as possible, but we need to pray... This one's so big that it's gonna make history in the damage it does... Not a good thing.

Pray for New Orleans

Postby Alice » Sun Aug 28, 2005 12:35 pm

You guys, this is scary. A lot of people can't get away from it because they're too poor or there isn't enough time. But it's a catagory 5 hurricane! One that bad has never hit New Orleans as far as we know. And New Orleans is below sea level.

We need to pray for these people!!!! :wow!: :sniffle:
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share

And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

One this bad has never hit anywhere as far as we know. Seriously! This is one of the biggest in history! It's like a catigory 3 tornado (you know if you where directly in one of those you would be plucked into the air basicly. You would have no chance of survival) only 200 miles long. That's right basicly a tornado 200 miles long! Anyone inside it doesn't stand a chance. Unless they have like a tornado shelter! And then how long could that hold up under constant strain? And how long could they stay down there? Plus who has a tornado shelter in New Orleans? Especially the people who are going to get caught in it? Like the poor, the ignorant, or the just plain unlucky? I will be praying for them. We all should. You wonder is this just one more sign of the end times? 9/11, the tsunami, this, plus a whole bunch of political things. I don't want to start a discussion on this as I don't even want there to be a chance of this thread being locked because people should pray right now. But I'm just thinking alot of stuff is going on. It is a storm around us. Literaly. I wonder what the NFL would do if there was a saints home game during the storm. It would probably be the first reshecduled or played in another arena NFL game ever that I know of. Some people might not reallize the seriousness of this situation. They have seen all the hurricanes lately in Flordia, but this surpasses all of them. This is one of those things that if people weren't warned beforehand, could have been another tsunami. Sorry about rambling. So yes please pray.

Oh, gosh, I know. My mom was looking a radar for the hurricane and it was huge. I got so lucky. I was walking my dogs during Katrina. I'll definitely pray.

Yeah, it looks serious. My best friend attends LSU, so he's currently up there in Louisiana. I'll definitely keep the many people in New Orleans in my prayers.

Thats scary! I used to live in mississippi and hurricanes are no picnic. Your ok above sea level, but since New Orleans is below that is bad. I will definatly pray for them.

I had heard that hurrican season ends around Nov 30. We have 3 months to go until this ends. They are up to the 11th name for this season and you have to wonder how many storms are yet to come. Predictions still have storms to hit the East Coast states sometime before it all ends.
I was born after Hurrican Hazel in 1954. My parents were in Georgia at that time and my father has told how he was trying to get home to my mother from the air base during the storm. The Air Force lost some aircraft that day because the aircraft could not fly off the base because of repairs. After that my father was transfered to North Carolina where I was born.
I do pray for those that cannot leave those areas to get to safety down there, also remembers those that have to stay until it all blows over, fire & rescue, and lawenforcement people and if they are there the National Guard.
The other problem this storm is going to do is to move up into upper states which could cause tornados and heavy rains from the Mississippi and Ohio Valleies to the East Coast so alot of people are in for a bad time.

We have had more hurricanes so far than the average total for a whole season. We really need to pray, not only about this hurricane, but about the ones that are still going to come.

Hurricane Katrina

Postby Tommy » Mon Aug 29, 2005 8:53 am

Ok, I`m sure you guys are all aware of the "New Orleans" situation going on presently. I think we need to pray for the people who live there and that God will keep them safe. I also wouldl ike to pray for CAA members whom live in New Orleans. I`m not sure if there are any members who live there, but I want to make sure.

For all of those you don`t know a massive Hurricane named Katrina (Dennises` daughter) damaging New Orleans pretty badly.

I just saw on the news, while all this is going on, a teenager is running around in his bathing suit sliding down slopes. Let`s pray God will blind him from his youthful exurbance or stupidity.

It's not just teenagers who do that. During the worst hurricane ever to strike the US, Camille with 200+ gale force winds, people had parties at the beach in a hotel and were killed. It's not a new thing. I will deffinatly pray for them. Hurricanes are destructive and terrifying forces of nature.

Ok guys, I just merged 3 Hurricane Katrina threads. I am glad you all care, but please be sure to check before you post things. Chances are with a huge event like this...someone might have beat ya to the punch. Anyway, we should be praying for those who could not get away. I guess many were heading the the big football stadium down there. Hopefully that keeps them safe.

Cameille was bigger. It was a category 5. With gale force winds above 200 miles per hour. And went half way up the US. I think it hit is the 50's. But this one is bad. Catagory 5 huricanes are no laughing matter. They are very scary.

I searched before I made mine. I`m pretty sure mine was the first one in the Prayer Room because I know FRWL`s was moved.

More importantly...

Yeah, I heard about the Stadium thing. 10,000 people + 88 bathrooms= Madness. I`m really praying for them. How long do you think this will last?

I wonder how many people will make hurricane jokes at my friend Katrina.

Actually Tom, if you want to argue the point. Your post was made today, at 10:53 AM. Frwls was made yesterday at 10:40 AM And Alice posted hers yesterday at 2:35 PM. So yours was the 3rd. ^^ I could have deleted yours and Alices but I felt like being nice. Arguing over this only will prod me next time to just delete them.

yes ya'll please pray, I live in the top west side of Louisiana so we'll only get some wind, but I have a lot of friends down there in New Orleans, Kenner, and other places that will be hit, and also if it continues it might hit alot of my other friends in Jackson and other parts of Mississippi, I went to camp with all these people and they're verry close to my heart, so I have been praying for safty for them, and everyone else that will get hit. I haven't heard anything since last night but my parents have kept the news on the whole time. if this is as bad as they say then it could possibly sink a majority of New Orleans. please keep everyone in your prayers, and thank you ^_^

Arguing?! I wasn`t arguing. I just said I thought mine was the first in the prayer section . I thought mine was since Frwl`s was moved to this section.
I apologize if I made it seem I was arguing.

Yeah sorry Steve. (And nice icon.) n.n

I actually did a search, but I guess it wasn't thourough enough. Oops? :red:

Anyway, I wonder how things are for New Orleans now? They haven't really told much information from inside it since the hurricane passed.

Hurricane Katrina

Postby Eriana » Tue Aug 30, 2005 3:18 pm

The body count is up to 80, that's lives lost because of this hurricane. You may have already watched it on the news but please anyone who isn't, pray for the people who are suffering from this terrible nightmare. I watched the news and was horrified to see that the water had reached up to the roofs of houses, in some areas the water is starting to develop Mosquitoe eggs which means obvious bacteria and diseases, including the count of slime and sludge is building up in the water also. A hotel working place that was being built to hold up to about 400 people was moved by the water, taken totally downstream and slammed against a wall. No one was hurt but the scary thing is the hotel weighed in about the neighborhood of I think about 204,000 tons. The water that is so powerful that can move that much weight is frightening for the mind to think about. Please everyone, if you aren't already, pray for the people who have lost everything but each other, some not even holding onto that much. I'm sure God would smile upon your efforts, hear your prayers and continue to help these people who are in desperate need of help.

I agree! All day yesturday I just wanted to cry!

I mean can you imagine... this weekend the skies were pretty sunny for the most part..as people evacuated... Knowing that when they return everything they own may not be there when they get back? CAN YOU IMAGINE! Knowing the fear and stress AND worry? Ahhhhhhh I don't think I could deal with that very easily..

I mean, I am 17 years old my grades aren't horrible, my school is awesome, I have food EVERYDAY, I have a DVD/TV in my room, my own phone in my room as well....

But these people are going to be coming home to.. NOTHING but devastation... not to mention looters ( ppl who will steal the things that are left)

I heard that one county's population all died! I was like Woah...

anyway, I think those of us who weren't in the hurricane should be thanking God right now for our fortunes and everything we have.. As well as pray for those that will be going through these hardships in the coming days and years...

I know that ssjgohan61 was stationed at the Air Force base down there...they evacuated all the people though...and the base was hit full blast. ;-; I'd hate to lose him. He's a good friend to me.

It looks really serious- much damage indeed. My friend that attends LSU in Baton Rouge and had to actually drive to the tip of Alabama to avoid the storm. They think school may be able to start this coming up Wed, but that may even be too soon.

I'll continue to pray for the people up in Lousiana.

Dang... more prayer... They fear that more Levees are breaking up and will potentially fill the city with more water...

This is unbelievable, the damage done to that formerly-beautiful city... President Bush says that this is going to overshadow 9/11 even and has asked everyone to donate money to help with relief. Plz listen to his request, and continue to pray.
