depressed

Postby heero yuy 95 » Wed Aug 24, 2005 9:42 pm

Hey, everybody, I'm depressed. School just started for me today. I get up at about seven in the morning and I am supposd to go to bed at about 10:00. so, I should be in bed now. But durng the summer my sleeping schedule was really screwed up, I would be staying up 'til 3:00 in the morning and sleeping 'til who-knows-when. Okay, you're probably all thinking this is a pretty silly reason to get depressed. But there's more. This is the beggining of my sophomore year in high school. At my school, the Freshmen have their own building, so this is a new experience for me. The Freshmen building was small and i knew where everything was, but the high school building is huge, actually, it's a large complex of several buildings. also, I have some classes that look "less-than-exciting", to say the least, and while some people like school and others don't, you could say that I fall into the "don't" category, so I'm kinda' depressed about summer being over, also. I have a lot of classes full of people I don't know or don't even recognize, and, well, what I'm getting at is, I'm one of those people who don't adapt too well to change. And another thing is that right now, do to my stupid sleeping schedule, I'm really tired, but I don't really feel very tired, so being all tired kinda' messes me up, too. well, I guess you could say this is a bunch of little reasons comprised into on semi-big reason. I realize that this must sound like a silly reason to be depressed, but I just wanted to post it, 'cuz it was bugging me. This is sort of a phase I go through, and I know that this is temporary, but I'm just fellin' kinda' blue for the moment.
Then again, God has blessed me with a wonderful group of friends(Christain and non-Christain) and I have two classes with some of my friends, so all is not lost, I also have lunch with a bunch of my friends. Just wanted to bring up the good :) . Well, I guess I'm done, I think I'll go try to get some sleep.

Yeah, sounds like highschool.

I can understand your worries. I've been there, and experienced it.
The best thing I can say is to just take it in small bits. Give it a few weeks and you'll be familiarize with campus and some of the people. That alone will cut most the anxiety away. Even if you're the quiet type like I was, you'll still meet some more interesting people. The sleeping thing, well I'm in the same habit. It usually takes me a few weeks (to a month) to adjust to my new sleep pattern :P

But what you feel it totally normal. I felt so much anxiety the first week of highschool and even more the first few weeks of college. Then it just kind of faded away.

I'll be praying that the Lord helps comfort you. I hope things work out for you bud. Good luck this upcoming school year :thumb:

I can't exactly relate because I've never gone to school (homeschool) but I have friends who are in the same boat as you, and I will pray for you along with them.

Not silly at all, Lack of sleep majorly boosts depression. You get cranky and stuff. Of coarse we'll pray. :)

I remember being in a jumble of nerves the first few weeks at the beginning of each school year as well. I was always terrified about lunch hour. I hated being the kid who sat by herself all the time, but that always changed a little into the year and I'd make new friends.

Sometimes it IS hard to adapt to change, but with an open mind and God's help, you can do it! :) It might take a while, but you'll adjust. I want to applaud you for recognizing the fact that you know this is temporary. That's very wise of you.

I don't think this is a silly request at all, and you'll most definitely be in my prayers n_n

Yep, this is definitely a common feeling. I'm feeling it myself right now at grad school, which is a huge university far bigger than any school I've been to. My high school and undergrad college were really small and easy to get used to, but this one is pretty big. Thank God most of the places I have to go are in one central location.

But I think this is something that everyone starting new things in life needs prayer for. So let's all pray for those of us beginning major steps in life, especially in starting classes in new schools. And keep looking on the positive side! :thumb: I'll pray.

Thanks, everyone! I have been looking on the psoitive, I'm sytill feeling kinda' down, but now I'm feeing better. n_n I feel this way every year, but this year it's just a little more because I'm at a new environment. But, yeah, I know it'll go away in a week or two, I just need to get into the groove of things. Thanks for the support, everyone. It really helps.

take my advice. make most of your highschool. to tell you the truth, i'm so regretting now that i didn't.

Oh yeah, I hear ya' loud and clear. I'm going to try to make the most of these last few years I'm in school. Yesterday (which was the first day for me) I was waiting for the bus with my friend, we were talking about school, and I said "every year we go about saying how much school sucks and we don't like it, but these next three years we should really try to make the most of it." I'm going to try to go by those words.

Keep up the good work! I never went to public school during my elementary years, but starting up again in college semester after semester at first was a nerve-racking experience. Eventually the shock should wear off.
