Officially, I do know they're working on an FF. That's all Squenix will say .....................................................................................

WOOHHOOOOO!!!!!!! A REMAKE OF FF7!!!!! ALL RIGHTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!
I hope they don't put in an option to revive Aeris. I liked her more dead.

But seriously, she's supposed to stay dead. That's the plot-twist. Oh, and more of the Turks.
OMGosh. I drool. See? I do.

I love FFVII quite a bit. I don't have my own PS, so I always end up playing it on my friend's systems. Due to this, I've played through the beginning all the way up the first fight with Rufus a bajillion times, but I've never gotten any further. I practically have that part memorized by now though.

They've certainly decreased the size of Cloud's hair. It used to remind me a bit of Tai's. (Though I suppose that would be reversed, since Cloud came first.)

Seriously though, Playstation has to start coming up with more creative names for their systems. :P

Squaresoft has already announced that they are not working on or planning on a FF7 remake; the trailer was merely to show off PS3's power.

However, if they are telling the truth:

1. Why go through the trouble to make a teaser in the first place?

2. They announced years back that they were working on remakes for FF7, FF8 and FF9 for the PS2, then all further news about the remakes completely dissapeared.

Perhaps they are really testing the waters to see fan reaction?

This is what I suspect actually.
That they are testing the waters for potential ideas in the future...

At any rate, I seriously doubt that they will announce anything that big until
Final Fantasy XII is (finally) released.

This was shown at E3 so it's a little old. Probably drumming up even more popularity for next month's Advent Children.

Square is falling behind across the board. Their profits are down and most of their projects are behind schedule. FF XII has been delayed at least 3 or 4 times now.

Why not quit with the remakes too, while they're at it. I liked FF6 just fine when I played it before. When it was called, I dunno FF[1|2|3|4|5]

Why not come up with something cool and new? Perhaps that isn't just a FF label on a standard MMORPG? I'm one of their biggest fans, but Square is really blowing it, IMHO.

Speaking of Square blowing it... me wants to know exactly what happened to 'Chrono Break.' It was, of course, also announced a few years ago, but is currently MIA.

1. No such beast.
2. Don't feed the fanboys/girls, Sqaure?
3. FFVII bothers me. It was all angsty story and no substance, and it has too many fanpeople.

In all likelihood, it was nothing more than a tech demo. With the onslaught of FFVII spinoffs, I really doubt they'd remake it. (Advent Children: Movie, UMD/DVD. Dirge Of Cerberus: Action game, PS2/PSP. <--(Not sure on that part.) Crisis Core: RPG, Cellhpones.)

That was a tech demo that was showed off when they announced the PS3.

Square also ran a tech demo of Final Fantasy VII on PS3 hardware, but they have no plans to release a remake of FF VII, the demo was simply one to show their support for the platform.

The FF8 one was ditched but apparently you were supposed to play as Seifer, Fujin and Raijin(if I spelled that right) in it the FF7 one ended up being a movie instead and the FF9 one I don't know about.

They made the teaser because they could they was SUPPOSED to help show what square could do with the PS3 but a comment I heard in a interview is they barely even tapped PS3's power but they put together the teaser in 2 months

Believe it or not FF7:AC is going to end with yet another ending that could bring yet another sequal... I remember signing the petition for FFX-3 lol... I doubted it would happen but I seriously enjoyed FFX and FFX-2 the most out of the series

The FF8 remake sounds interesting. Different perspectives are always intriguing.

thats the best they can do? the graphics dont look much different than ps3's.

OK anyway! Heres what I think they should do. Make a story totally unrelated to final fantasy 7 but keep the materia idea. I love the ff7 battle system, i dont care if theres no cloud or tifa or aeris or whatever, i just want my thunder materia maxed out =)

Call me wierd, but I think FF8 deserves a sequel or a remake with a fuller story. The ending didn't answer a lot.

But that'll never happen, FF7 is enough for me anyway. Do you guys realize it'll probably be rated M? The original definitely would be by today's standards.

Yes, FF8 remake good, but pretty much all of SE's games leave you with alot of unanswered questions (good for fanbases).

Unless they add alot of blood and gore, I doubt FF7 will be M. Yes, it had a lot of language and sexual innuendo, but I doubt it's enough to get more than a "Language" and "Suggestive Themes" rating. The strongest cussing was a couple uses of "G** D*** IT!", spouted out by Barret.

Vincent was a Turk.

*slaps self for stupidity*
How could I forget that about my favorite character?

Eh, well, FF7 I'm okay with. Yes, I know about the problems with it, but the thing I really liked about was just the coolness of it. Forget everything else about it. It was still pretty cool and climactic (and 'One Winged Angel' is still the best!).

Personally, I don't want an FF7 remake. Probably because I despise the game with an undying passion(along with FFX). An FF8, FF9, or even FF6(favorite game in the series) remake would be fine n' dandy with me. I remember hearing recently that they are considering doing some FF6 spin-offs/sequels.

FF7 was good, but definately overrated. My biggest peeve with the game was the wonky English translation.

"Attack when the tail's up. It's gonna counterattack with it's laser." <-----That one just plain ticked me off. (If you've played it, you'll know why)

*Turk leader walks over the flowers*

"Oh, yeah. Don't step on the flowers."

"Ah, man, you stepped on them!"

"You're gonna catch holy hell!"

HAHA! I could never figure out what was going on during that scene!!! Yeah, a better translation would be welcome.

But what about in-game voices? I say no, because I can experience the story without it. I want to read a game, not watch it, if you get my drift.

I won't lie to you, I loved the game when it first came out. I remember buying a Playstation just for that game. But I was young then, and I guess it just didn't age well for me. Now, the story seems convoluted and overly "deep". There were to many moments where you just stood back and watched a summon or limit break play out. I also thought the character designs were pretty bad(yes, I miss Amano). Then there was the ending, which was confusing and didn't tie up anything at all. I know Advent Children is going to fix that, but that took years to arrive and the game has to be judged on its own. Then there were the characters, which I find vastly uninteresting. Aeris' death was the one memorable scene in the entire game. I thought the music was quite good in that scene, but overall, the music was forgetable.

It also really bugs me that so many people think FF7 and FFX were the best the FF series has to offer(some say that they are the best RPGs have to offer). I know it's a matter of personal taste, but there are much worthier FF games. FF4, FF6, FF8, and FF9 to be exact.

*whew* Sorry about the rant, but that happens anytime someone asks my opinion on FF7. Same thing'll happen if you ask me about FFX, so be careful. :brow:

Hopefully, Squarenix will revitalize interest in some of the other games in the series with sequels or spin-offs. I'd hate to see them get overtaken by the shadow of what I see as lesser games. One thing's for sure, that FF7 PS3 tech demo was very impressive. I'd love to see Locke or Cecil on the PS3.

I liked the music, though I wish they had used the same synthesis they did in FF8...

"Attack when the tail's up. It's gonna counterattack with it's laser." <-----That one just plain ticked me off. (If you've played it, you'll know why)

Oh my gosh, it actually said that?! Good thing I already knew what to do...

FF7 is my favorite for several reasons, but I realize that's it not the best. FF8 was a technological leap over FF7.

I remember that line about attacking and counterattacking. It messed me up really bad until I finally figured it out.

But wonky English translations can definitely be amusing at some points. It never really bothered me, but it was one of the first rpgs I had ever played at that point, so I didn't really have anything to compare it to.

I'm really not crazy about the idea of in-game voices, partly because I don't trust Squenix to do a good casting job and partly because I like imagining the voices myself, somewhat like reading a book. I think it's especially a bad idea with a series that's already established, since people will have very clear preconceptions about how things should sound.
