Hmm... that's a point. In that case I shall have to unleash my secret ultra-CAA-law-abiding advertisement ploy. In short, I'll post a link in my thread and hope people see it. ^_^ . Something like:

'Remember your Sword!' with a link. I'll put that up now, but does anyone have ideas on what else I could add to it; explaining it further. I've thought of 'Scripture memorisation.' Or 'memorising scripture' but if there is any better ideas around it would be useful. :)

XD silly Kiwis
Errm, basically just explain how its a memorising scripture thread which has a new verse weekly. It's also a thread where we encourage others and perhaps even share our experiences with the verses we have memorised.

Btw, thanks for doing that CA :D :thumb:

Also, it is almost the 1st of August. Just a reminder so that you can plan ahead and remember to save that day for fasting ;) It should be a Monday I think...

Bumpity!
Just another reminder... Tomorrow is fast day (well, atleast for CA and me it is :P). Feel free to fast for what you feel God wants you to fast for... myself, I think I will fast to humble myself, as well as to lift up our fellow brothers and sisters. Humilty is extremely important in our walk with Jesus

Isaiah 57:15 wrote: For this is what the high and lofty One says—
he who lives forever, whose name is holy:
"I live in a high and holy place,
but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit,
to revive the spirit of the lowly
and to revive the heart of the contrite.

James 4:6 wrote: But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
"God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble."

:thumb: May God bless you guys abundantly as you fast tomorrow!

Hey guys! I hope your fasts went well. Mine went ok... though, I feel that my mind was always getting sidetracked T__T Does anyone have any good suggestions as to how to keep your mind on Jesus? This is something I struggle really hard with.

Anyway, here is a verse I found while looking up something. Just wanted to share it with you because it sort-of ties in with what I was saying earlier about cleaning ourselves of bad things:

James 1:19-21
19My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires. 21Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.

Edit: btw... this post is my 1337 th post XD Yay for l33t-ness! :eyeroll:

Yeah, my fast went pretty good until about lunch time, when my mom invited me out for lunch. Even though it didn't last the whole day, I was still able to spend some sweet quiet time with God. Also, my mom wants to fast with me next time, so that would be cool to have her fast for the kingdom.

Yeah, I know what you mean by getting sidetracked. There are so many distractions, aren't there? It's really a battle. Anyhow, something that helps me on the spiritual side of things is just trying to be in an attitude of prayer, no matter what you're doing. Something that helps me on the practical side is listening to worship music, or singing songs. I dunno, you probably already do these things, but those are what help me. It's good to hear that your fast went alright! Congrats on your l33thood by the way.

That's an awesome verse! I've had to remember that at work when people get on my nerves. It can get discouraging... cause even though I'm keeping all of my irritation all bottled up inside, it still shows on my face or people are aware of it some other way, cause they act like they're afraid of me! I just have to watch what's in my heart, yes?

I did the fast, but I'm just popping in before I go to school. I'll let you know how it went and read everyone else's when I'm back at home but just wanted to say hi and let everyone know I'm still around before I had to head off. :) . God bless and have a good day, everyone!

I just got back from church camp. I didn't do the fast because I was pretty sure people there would think I was showing off *sighs*. I will try to make it up in the next few days.

Ok everyone! Tomorrow (for us Aussies and Kiwis) is the day! Don't let this fast be a "ho-hum" type day... .remember WHY you are forgoing what you are fasting and remember to lift up our sisters and brothers in prayer!

Sure thing matie! Welcome aboard!
Allow me to give you a low-down of what exactly goes on here... basically, we go around the prayer room and pray for the different requests that are put up there. We also have bi-monthly fasts, being the 1st and 15th of every month. These days we fast something (food, internet, etc) so we can pray even more for our brothers and sisters.

O... also, something I should mention. This is by no means an attack on you or anything (i don't even know if you do this or not), its just that there was only one request laid upon us by the mods when we started up PG. That is we are not to make short "I'll pray!" posts. If you still want to let someone know you are praying for them but can't think of anything really insightful to say, can I encourage you not only to write "i'll pray" but to also write a little prayer along with it. That way it can't be viewed as just being spammy. ;)

edit: O_o I've been reading through the thread, and strewth! it has some funny stuff in it XD Like that time I knighted Sir Lionheart...

Thanks for the reminder about the fast, Talame.

Camp went well. The devotions leader had good things to say. We think in a similar manner, so I was really able to connect with what he did. I was impressed with the intellectual discussions I was able to participate in. I also received a new perspective on loving people. It was good.

Welcome aboard, Sailordove!

O_o I've been reading through the thread, and strewth! it has some funny stuff in it XD Like that time I knighted Sir Lionheart...

Did I just hear my name mentioned? :P
I've been joining in on the fasts and stuff, but I haven't found much time to actually log on and post about them. :(
Yesterday's fast went alright. Not much worth mentioning happened, but it served as a good reminder that I should set aside more time for prayer and reading God's word. :thumb: So for me it was a very good day overall.

I just got back from church camp. I didn't do the fast because I was pretty sure people there would think I was showing off *sighs*. I will try to make it up in the next few days.

I know exactly what you mean. If I can fast without anyone noticing, I will. But it's a little difficult telling people you're fasting, so if I'm not able to get away with it quietly I'll just skip it and choose another day.

Yay! A new member! Welcome SailorDove! :thumb:

[A side note] If anyone remembers that far back (or cares), I think that my witnessing thing worked out pretty well. The method of witnessing that I was instructed in was something that dosen't work at all with my personality, so I'm convinced that the Lord worked it out so that the only guy who I talked to was an agnostic, and didn't care enough about anything to even listen to my presentation. That way I was able to help out the first year people and jump in on conversations now and then to help steer them in a more usefull direction.

Sadly, I think my fast was more of a ho-hum day than it should've been. Next time around or another day this week I should really be serious about why I'm fasting, cause my day wasn't nearly as focused on the Lord as it should've been.

Wow, three cheers for the CAA prayer warriors! :jump: It makes me so happy to see you all taking each others needs to the Lord in prayer. ^_^ (John 13:35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another).

Well, if you have a moment now and then, my Brother has been searching for the Lord again. He knows... but he doesnt... I think he is still struggling with the idea that being a Christian is not just about 'being good.' He's come a long way to want to go to church again, but he still needs prayer.

My wife and I could also use continued prayer as we prepare for our Missions trip next month, and as we prepare for another year with our High School Youth Group. As always, God is great and we are very excited about both. ^_^

Thanks every one! ;)

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I'll lift up your bro in prayer, for sure. God has really laid on my heart hard the people who need to come back to Him. I think everyone probably has friends and family like this.

I'll pray for you and your wife in the ministry too. That's exciting that you're going on a mission trip! Where are you going? Is the mission trip just you and your wife or your youth group too? I'll pray the Lord would use you and that the time would be fruitful! Thanks for sharing, man!

Thanks Syreth. Your prayers are very much apreciated.
My wife and I will be heading to Japan, to stay with/minister along side long term missionaries there. Just the two of us will be going, as this family has invited us to shadow under them, to see what everyday missions life is like and hopefully findout if Japan is Gods long-term calling for us. ;)

Here is more info, if you are interested: Link to Thread

God has provided most of our financial suport, but we are still in need of more prayer support. The most important part. :thumb:

Thank you for the welcome Syreth!

I'll be praying for your brother Kaji. Its awesome that he's searching for the Lord again! :thumb: I'll also be praying that God will continue guiding you with your mission work!

Whenever I'm fasting food (while she's fine with me doing it) my mom fusses about how I have to be careful not to under-nourish myself. So I try to keep it a secret to avoid all the fussing. Actually, the only time that I've ever gotten stuck was when I was coming back home from seeing a movie (Batman Begins) with my friend, and my mom was about to fix us both dinner. But fortunately he (my friend) had to leave before dinnertime, and I didn't need to break my fast after all. :thumb:

O, btw, good to hear bout your outreach thingy! Overall, how would you say the 'first year people' went? I remember the first (and only time I think...) time I did something like that, I was a nervous wreck! :P

The First Year's did great!
We (my group of four) had good quality conversations with at least two of the people that we talked to, and (as always) it was interesting finding out what some non-Christians believe. The rest of my group were excellent at explaining how God's plan for salvation works, and they also did a decent job at discussing the topics that were brought up. I'd mostly just try to chime in if I saw that the conversations were becoming pointless, or if someone else didn't think to follow something through to its conclusion.
It was a very cool experience (for the most part anyway), and I think that all of the people in my group learned a lot. :)
What was yours like? and how did you think that it went?
