Remind me again--who are the bosses on the others? Are there some robots? What characters are you using as your main party to battle them? I'll try to help you out.

My best party is Claude, Ashton, Rena, and Leon. I missed Chiasto.....

The only one I`ve beaten is Field Of intelliegence. I`m currently working on Lover and her two minions.

Ahh, Chisato worked well for me in my party. I would suggest putting another brawler in your party instead of Leon, controlling Rena yourself, and having the other three on auto go and melee/pummel the boss, staying back with Rena and healing/interrupting the boss with full screen, quick attack spells alternately (not even really to cause damage, just to interrupt the enemy's attacks). Especially with the robots, if you get them trapped in the middle you can pummel them into submission pretty quickly. With Lover take out the minions, because they can cast some nasty spells if I remember correctly, then take her out. Just be sure to keep the healing going steady with both items and spells. That's how I do it usually, if I remember correctly. I've played so much SO3 it's hard to remember SO2. Good luck!

Chisato was cool, but she really comes in too late to do a lot with her unless you use her extensively.

I already beat the robot and I used Claude and it took me a half an hour.

Lover and her Guardians is the only other boss I`ve faced. The minions start out the battle with a 4000 damaged spell. My most hp is 3800. So I just automaticallly loose. Should I fight other bosses first?

I fought the other bosses first, and did some extra leveling up in a couple areas with the beasts (high EXP) in them. I'm trying to remember exactly how I dealt with Lover's minions but I can't remember at the moment. Can you control Rena and fire a quick screen-wide spell to interrupt them and stop their initial attack? You'd have to be faster than them. What kind of spell do they cast? You might have items that decrease that kind of elemental damage and allow you to survive the initial onslaught in order to cast a quick healing spell.

Heh heh.

I'm currently replaying through SO2 on Rena's side, because I never did finish her part. I also recruited Opera and Ernest. So far, I have encountered two Private Actions that referenced the first Star Ocean game. The first one was just amusing, the second one made me think.

The first one was in Arlia, when Claude is petting a dog. Rena talks to him for a bit and then you get to choose an option. I chose, "Did you have any pets as a kid?" Claude then proceeded to tell me how he had a dog as a kid, and that its name was "Rati." Rena says that's an interesting name and Claude says, "Well, my dad named it. He said as soon as he saw that fluffy tail, he knew he had to name it Rati."

The main character in Star Ocean is named Ratix, who was a Fellpool and had a tail...Ronixis, Claude's father, named Claude's dog after Ratix. I thought that was pretty funny.

Speaking of Fellpool, the race Star Ocean can't keep straight...

Fellpool were first introduced in Star Ocean. Ratix, Milly, and Dorn are all Fellpool, characterized by pointy elf-like ears and a long tail. There was also Perisie, who was classified as a "lesser Fellpool," who had a bushy tail and cat ears instead of pointy ears.

Now, skip to Star Ocean 2. Leon is classified as a Fellpool, even though he is on the planet Expel. However, he has the kitty ears like a Lesser Fellpool would, and no tail (that's debatable, since he wears a long white labcoat, and he might have a tail that we can't see...however, I assume he doesn't have one).

This is where it gets interesting. I did a Private Action in North City that involved Ernest and Noel talking. Noel mentions that he always felt weird because he was "different" than everyone else on Energy Nede. Ernest then says something about Noel possibly being a Fellpool, which Rena doesn't understand.

Ernest then states that Fellpool are the native race of the planet Roak. Interestingly, this PA only appears if you are playing as Rena, who cannot recruit Leon.

I looked at Noel's character profile...his status picture looks a LOT like Dorn from the original Star Ocean (the same sleepy eyes and everything). Here, look:

Not only that, but Noel's character sprite looks a LOT like Leon's (as far as ears go), and Leon is classified as a Fellpool:

Not only THAT, but hey, check it out, NOEL is LEON spelled backwards. Coincidence?

So this raises a couple of questions:

1. Is Noel a Fellpool? He certainly LOOKS like one, and the game does indeed hint that he's not a native Nedian (even though his profile says he is). Also, as I've shown, he looks a lot like Dorn and Leon, who are both classified as Fellpool.

2. If Fellpool are indeed the native race of Roak, how did Leon get to Expel? Further, if he's TRULY a Fellpool, why the lack of a tail? How did Noel get to Energy Nede, and where is HIS tail (assuming he is indeed a Fellpool)?

So many questions...

You`re talking about a fake made up character, not a real being. But TriAce did leave a lot of clues for us to ocnsider that, but we must remember, I has yet not played "Star Ocean I" but a PS3 remake is planned, from what I`ve heard since Star Ocean: The Second Story is considdred the original in NA.

I just got me a PS2 and Star Ocean (till the end of time) today, and i'm very impressed with the game, i'm curently on disc 1 in the dragon infested copper mines. I really didn't mind the voice acting, the main annoyances i find with the game are sometimes it is too easy to die against bosses & even some normal bad guys (although you can pick you battles by avoiding or escaping) and certain annoying minigame style parts like the lizard-carriage things in the first mine lvl, that bit drove me nuts. I also feel like i'm spending way too much time on the same planet on disc 1. but the good points far outweight those annoyances, i quite like the battle trophy system.

Blame that on the new system that makes you die when you hit 0 MP as well as HP. That was retarded. :\

I also feel like i'm spending way too much time on the same planet on disc 1.[/QUOTE]
Yeah, I felt that way about FF7. I spent WAY too much time on that planet too.

Seriously, I never understood that complaint. It's not like it's anything unusual for the Star Ocean series or even RPGs in general.

i quite like the battle trophy system.

What does it do? I didn't have enough space on my memory card, so I went ahead and played the game without that feature.

Collect certain numbers of them and it will unlock various things: different sets of battle outfits, Universe and 4d difficulty modes, a music test, a Full Active Mode which allows you to activate battle skills anywhere on the map without running up to the optimal range...but I doubt that many players actually get enough trophies for that one.
