Requesting renewed prayer plzkthx

Postby Slater » Sat Aug 13, 2005 3:08 am

Arbre and I talked for a while a few hours ago after I saw her post in General. Kinda reminded me of an old case that still needs a lot of prayer. I have (or rather, had...) a friend who lives in SLC, Utah who is a Mormon. It's been about 1.75 year since I found out that she was a Mormon and tried showing her the errors in that religion. My chat with Arbre really encouraged me to not resign to the feeling that all is lost for Daisy (person in mind).

So I'm asking for prayer and for guidance, since I really don't know what to do anymore... been over a year since she changed her e-mail to avoid me, and though she eventaully gave it to me again, I really feel that I'm not truly welcome to chat with her anymore, which makes me sad... It's made me sad since the day this whole thing started cause it's been a painful thing for everyone involved.

Please, just pray that God would open her eyes and bring her to the Truth that is the real Jesus Christ.

Situations like this are always very delicate. Both sides are convinced that they believe the "correct" thing. I will pray that God helps you find the right way to go about witnessing if you are given the opportunity to do so again, and I will pray that her eyes and heart are opened.

Well, usually pointing fingers and the "I'm right, your wrong" isn't the best approach. It usually makes people more defensive and angry. I mean, I doubt you would enjoy people claim you're following a false leader or God.

If all y'all do is argue about religion and conversion then the friendship is probably not going to prosper well. Casually talk about it here and then and continue to pray for her. Set an example of what Christ can do.

Witnessing isn't always an easy thing. Sometimes we need guidence from the Lord. Whatever the case, I'll be praying about the situation, and y'alls friendship.

It's definately like walking a tight rope when trying to witness and yet keep the door open through friendship. I think we could all use prayer for when we witness. I'll pray that your relationship would be restored that you might have that open door to share the Truth of Christ with her once again. I'll also pray that her heart would be softened to hear God's voice in spite of all of the lies of the enemy.

I agree with Syreth. It is very hard to maintain a good friendship with someone who believes differently than you, and still try to be a good witness. My best advice should the two of you communicate openly again is not to start off pointing out differences and such, but discuss them should they come up in conversation on their own. Don't consciously drag them up. Bottom line is that what you DO is more important than what you SAY.

yes, I'm going to have to start chatting with her again; this is unavoidable. I'm about to start a long-awaited sci-fi novel that involves a character who is her creation, and because of this I need to request input about it from her. Hopefully this will open up new doors...

That's awesome that you guys have a common interest. That's a huge open door right there. Maybe someday God will use that somehow to open her eyes a bit. Something to pray for, yes?
