Well, there is this plug-in here Tara AVP that plays realmedia, mpeg, and avi files for winamp 2 only.

I'm pretty sure the codec you're trying to think of is MPEG 1. That's all I know for VCDs. MPEG 2 is normally used for DVDs and MPEG 4 is really good for streaming video (QuickTime is the only one that has a real support for it to the best that I know).

Healing hands of God have mercy on our unclean souls
once again. Jesus Christ, Light of the World, burning
bright within our hearts forever. Freedom means love
without condition, without beginning or an end. Here's
my heart, let it be forever Yours, only You can make
every new day seem so new.

A splitting brow forced by the thorns
His face is writhing with the pain yet it's comforting to me

Well, VCD is going to be MPEG-1, DVDs are either 2 or 1. (If you see a LOT of episodes on one DVD, chances are they are encoded in MPEG1, at much lower quality).

As for MPEG4, the last I heard it was never really agreed on. The quicktime guys went off and implimented the not-totally-agreed-on standard, and annoyed some folks. But that's hearsay...

Mm, that's what one of my co-workers was telling me the other day.
