Is my user name arrogant?

Postby Godly Paladin » Sat Jul 30, 2005 7:24 pm

I didn't mean it to be, but a while ago it started bugging me that it could be interpreted as such. I meant for it to simply be a Christian modifier for a type of person, whereas now I see it might mean "See? I'm calling myself super-righteous!"

What do you guys think?

I don't think so. If you're living a Godly life, then there's really no problem.

 She sounds like a hottie.

I like your user name -- very medieval and confident.

Don't worry about it, I wouldn't assume that about you just from your username. If you act Godly here, then nobody will have any reason to have a problem with your username.

Godly Paladin isn't too bad.
If your name was The Godly Paladin of Ultimate power and Eternal Swordmaster of Ethereal Light, then that might be pretty arrogant.

A Paladin IS super-Godly. Totally spot-on. As a fussy D&D fan, I'd say your username was an example to us all, so there.

And on the subject of Lehn, I have to say that was hilarious. I haven't seen her around for ages, and then she posts seconds after I talk about her. I think Lehn is psychic.

Paladin was also the name of the hero on the old Western series:
Have Gun,Will Travel. On his calling card he had the symbol of a chess
knight.Starred Richard Boone as Paladin.
Good show. You should watch it if you have the chance. :thumb:
As far as your username...no,it's not overly arrogant.

oh thanx for explaining that guys.

obviosly I never thought your user name was arrogant before because I didnt even know what it meant lol. But now that I do...I still dont really think its arrogant...if you chose that username because you thought you where a truly Godly person and not a sinner(all humans are)and all that it might be but when people get to know you they can see that you really have it because you want everyone to know that you are trying your hardest to be Godly and that you are willing to fight for Him and to become more even more Godly then you are know...

Historically, the word 'paladin' came from the court of Charlemagne, where it signified an imperial official (it's from the Latin palatinus, "attached to the palace"). Charlemagne's Peers are exemplified as holy warriors in stories like The Song of Roland, and so paladins are considered 'holy'. The association has been helped by its usage in various RPGs, including D&D.
To all, life thou givest, to both great and small.
In all life, thou livest, the true life of all.
We blossom and flourish as leaves on a tree
And wither and perish, but naught changeth thee.

This is exactly what everyone else has said, but: I never thought about it that way. Considering that the term "paladin" can be used (or, at the least, is used) for warriors of other religions, or generically as in Dungeons and Dragons, I always thought of "Godly" as merely indicating what your allegiance.
