No, the real religious stuff in Symphonia is not presented as fake. They do sort of have a fake Christian-like religion, but that's not what I am talking about. The summon spirits, world rebirth, Tree of Life, Niflheim, the dual-world system: its all Norse religious stuff.

Riviera has that too. There are gods, angels of destruction, a heaven and an underworld, seven sages filling in for the deceased/sealed gods, and more. In fact, none of the characters are human. One is an angel and the rest are sprites.

^^;; sorry and do not take this the wrong way. But I did not understand the comparison. So in ToS, the religion is fake (or semi-fake atleast) however in Riviera the religion that is portrayed is real?

Meh... real or not, it's a fantasy world ^^

Actually, I meant...
... in the end, Martel turns out to not be a Goddess and the "Angels" or simply superpowered half-elves.
Ah. Sorry, I didn't explain that well. Tales of Symphonia has a fake religion but also has a lot of religious material that is portrayed as real. For example, there are the summon spirits and a tree of everlasting mana.

I was trying to say that Riviera has the same level of bad religion, except Riviera's angels and gods are real. Whereas Symphonis is pretty humanistic/atheistic with some mysticism and Norse Mythology thrown in.

Myoti, I see what you mean now. ToS is indeed a lot less religious than it seems at first, as much of it is fake. But having fake religions kind of pushes a different kind of religion anyway. But I definately see what you meant. I was just pointing out the religious elements that are not portrayed as fake.

I hope I didn't come across the wrong way. I personally wasn't the least bit bothered by either game, as they both take place entirely in a fantasy world. Neither games have anything worse than what 99% of RPG's have anyway. I was just trying to present a complete picture as I know that many people are more bothered by this kind of stuff.
