Thank you, HolySoldier - its really relevant to what I'm struggling with at the moment.

If I may ask a question: how do we submit our will to God? Is there a way to do it or is it one of those things which must be put down at the foot of the cross regularly? I often mess up and do things I want, my way, but I want to be doing God's will. Often I put my own things first even when I know He wants me to be doing something else. Is is one of those things that is a process?

One of my favorite quotes is: "Growing in Christ is not instant oatmeal!" It is a process and we have to work on it. Just like any relationship we have to both love and respect the other and we have to take time out of our lives for them, just as they take time out of their life for us. Our relationship with Jesus and the Heavenly Father is no different. We have to work on it all the time. But God gives us a clue on how to grow closer to him and understand his will. See, if you want to understand the 'Will of God' then you should read the 'Word of God.' God has reveled himself in a very special book that he gives us to learn more about him. It is called the Bible, and while some people believe it is just a worn out old relic useless in the modern world, God says differently: [I] “For the word of God is living and active.â€

Good stuff, good stuff. That's a really good reminder to me too. Especially since there's so many turning points in the few years after you graduate highschool. Of course, we should be absolutely submitted to God all the time. I just have to remind myself to be open and available to whatever He might want to do. Sometimes I ask Him, "what do You plan on doing today, Lord?" Shoot, I should really ask Him that more. It's also a comfort that as we obey God in His general will (being obedient to His word), He will reveal more of His specific will for our lives.

This song is one of my favourite hymns (if that's what it is).

It reassures me that GOD is leading me wherever and whatever situation I'm in. In some matters, it's easier for me to surrender my will to Him since I'm completely lost or it's beyond my control. I just give up and hope that GOD will do something about it.

Now....for those that are particularly challenging (mostly recurring sins), sometimes I have to beat certain phrases in my head, reminding myself that I don't belong to myself anymore. "Slave to GOD" is one of the current phrase I use. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't because I don't even say it out. I've gotta admit that it's very hard for me to overcome some sins and to submit to His will but the most important thing which keeps me going is to never give up or feel discouraged.

That is a great thing to ask. I try myself to get up every morning and pray something similar I say "Your will be done, not mine." That is how I try to start my say. I don't always remember to pray that first off when I wake up, but praying something like that would be a good habit to build.

Amen. Our emotions and thoughts can often discourage us and lead us astray -we can get so reliant and wrapped up with feelings and emotions that we miss the fact that we have to look to Jesus, not ourselves. If anyone's like me, when they feel bad they can get the impression that they're doing something wrong, that they've done this or that.. but all those thoughts are about self.

To look to God is to focus on Him, and His works, His saving grace that covers all our sins, no matter how great, to trust in His compassion, kindness and plans, right? So no matter what we're feeling, we can focus on Him and trust Him. He is the rock and cornerstone of our life - it is not our good feelings/emotions that sustain us but God's unfailing love, righteousness, faithfulness and the hope we have in Him.

Yeah, dude, that whole passage of Hebrews 12 is awesome when it comes to dealing with sin and the like! Verse 1 reminds me of CAA and all my fellow prayer guardians:

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

Not to mention all my friends and family here and everyone down at Bible College. Wow, and since that verse is referring to those people of faith in chapter 11 and finally talking about Jesus in chapter 12, it sure puts our struggle into perspective. It's not to say that it's not difficult for everyone, but I'm sure that a good number of us have it easy as it compares to some. Kinda like your post about Job, HS. What a horrendous thing to go through! But since it was what God had allowed him to go through (and he didn't reject God, although he questioned him) he was blessed even more in the end than how he was at the first!

Wow, my mind is going at a million miles an hour right now. I love the book of Hebrews!

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,
by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh,
and having a High Priest over the house of God,
let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,

Wow, it's an admonition to all of us! Seeing how this is the prayer room, let's keep considering one another, and do that stirring thing that it talks about at the last part. Yeah! And lets keep abiding in the Holiest with God where the true strength is to resist temptation! Let's draw near guys! How exciting!!!

Awesome post Syreth and CreatureArt! That was just awesome! Amen. Amen. Praise the Lord! I am just so excited to do the will of God. I know that it can be hard at times, but it really is the best thing, and it is worth it. Your posts really did capture a wonderful understanding of the Lord and I just praise God for that. And I just want to take this post now to pray for us here, Syreth, CreatureArt, Mave, and myself. That God will help us to understand his will, that he will give us strength in fallowing his will, and that he will help us to be good men and women of faith who can keep our hearts and heads undefiled. I also want to pray for all those off and on the CAA who wish to fallow God's will, that those who do not know him can find the wonderful joy of having a risen personal savior, and for those who do know him that they will be strengthened in the walk.

"Father, grant to us wisdom to know you will, strength to fallow your will, and help us to keep our hearts and heads undefiled. Please help those who are in need of your grace to find you, and for those who walk with you, that they will be strengthened. Help us to forever walk in your ways. Amen."
