Postby Doubleshadow » Wed Jul 20, 2005 4:15 pm

My roomate has been trying to acess her G-Mail account, which she has been able to previously from my computer, but now it is refusing to let her due to something called "Active X". I have no idea what thr problem is. If any of you know what brought about the change and/or how to fix it, please let me know. :?:

ActiveX not being on, or not being off?

Has she tried another browser? Firefox, for example?

If she's using IE6 on a PC with Service Pack 2, then the browser may be asking for permission to use the Active X to load Gmail. I think I worded that correctly.

If a little yellow bar is showing up near the top of the browser, then click on it and tell it to allow Active X.

Otherwise, I'm not sure.

Gmail requires ActiveX controls to be enabled

Your browser seems to be Internet Explorer, and ActiveX seems to be disabled. Gmail's standard view requires ActiveX to be enabled in order to operate.

To use Gmail's standard view, enable ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer. You can do this by going to the Tools menu, selecting Internet Options, Security tab, Internet zone, and either select the Default Level, or selecting Custom Level and scrolling down to "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" and selecting Enable.

After enabling ActiveX controls, try again.

To use Gmail's basic HTML view, which does not require ActiveX, click here.

That's what it says, and we tried both the links. No go. We'll see with Fire Fox.
