I'm leaving the country Thursday! Give me sedatives! Lots and lots of Sedatives!

Postby Mangafanatic » Mon Jul 11, 2005 10:33 am

Okay. I officially leave Thursday for my missions trip. That means that I'm in stress mode right now trying to pack everything. In addition to packing pressure, I seem to be the unofficial right hand [wo]man of the lady who's going to run the vacation bible school we do with the children while we're there, so doing her bidding is yet another strain on me right now.

While I was joking about the sedatives, I would like to tell you all that I am TERRIFIED about flying. I haven't been on a plane since I was 3 years old, and the prospect of being off so far off the ground makes me want to chain myself to parking meter.

Lastly, as all of your know (those living on the coast better than I) that this year's hurricane season has been VERY active. If you could pray that God would keep hurricanes away from the island, that would be wonderful. I don't really know what we'd do if we had a big hurricane trying to swipe the island. . .

Overall, if you guys could just pray for me, I'd appreciate it so much! I'm really going to need it.

Edit: Added the bit about hurricanes
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. Oh wow.... seems like you have a lot of pressure on ya at the moment. I'll be praying for you in hopes everything works out and that you have a great experience.

I'll also pray for your anxiety of flying. I think that once you're in the air, you'll be just fine.

I hope you have a great time helping yourself and others become closer to the Lord. Oh, just curious... where are you flying to? I wish I could go on a missions trip :( TAKE ME WITH YOU! *Clings onto her ankle as she drags him along the ground*

Anyways, let us know how it goes :thumb: Have fun.

When I read your title on the "home page" I thought it meant u were leavign CAA! They didn't quite put down tha whole title. It scured me a bit there. Don't worry, flying is really fun and reallly safe. I got to get the window seat on tha way back from Asia. My dad took it on the way there. I was llike,"Hey, I want the window seat!" I had so so much jet lag tho. I couldn't even keep my eyes open to eat. My mom kept having to wake me up,"Tell, me when tha food gets here." Have a great trip. I'll pray that u make it there "In One Piece"!!!

That would be horribly uncomfortable. How would you sleep? How would you go to the bathroom? Chain yourself to your bed instead. Preferably with a chain long enough to reach the bathroom. Even if they drag you to the airport, I'm pretty sure they won't let a bed through security.

Relax and have fun, Osaka.

Your name is on my prayer list and I will definitely be praying for you, Osaka. ^____^ I know the Lord will bless you. Have a good trip and enjoy every new thing you see. Oh yes, and don't forget to take pictures. *hugs*

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

And don't chain yourself to a parking meter unless you have a lot of quarters.

Maybe you'd fit in my carry on?

The Dominican Republic! Yay! If you don't know where it is, it's in the Caribbean on the same island as Haiti. If you don't know where Haiti is, it's near Cuba. Sort of.

Thanks so much for all your prayers and assurances. Especially Termyt. Your comment made me laugh so much that I think I'll print it out and put it in my pocket to read during take off. Maybe that will take my mind off it. That. . . or make me puke 'cause I'm trying to read and keep from screaming at the same time. ;)

Wow. I know how you feel a little, Mangafanatic. In less than two weeks, I'm going out of the country, too: on MY FIRST MISSION TRIP ever.

Things haven't gotten hectic around here for me yet, but they probably will soon. I'll be praying for you, and I hope the plane doesn't cause you too much trouble.

Well have a good time on your trip. I have never been on a mission trip before but I hear that they are really cool!!! Hey, and don't worry about going on an airplane, I have been on several, and I can tell you that they are an incredibley safe and effective way to travel. Just remember to "always do your best in everything you do, but always trust in God and he will see you trough." I will be praying for you to have a safe trip, and a good time there, (Lord willing a very effective time ministering there too!)
