Love Sickness?

Postby Aeolus21 » Sun Jul 10, 2005 5:39 am

Okay this is going to sound a little bit funny, but have you guys ever felt "in love" with somebody during or after being ill?

It seems like whenever I feel sick or have been stricken with a fever, I somehow develop a crush on someone. This has happened many times in the course of my life and I can't seem to explain why that happens to me. Perhaps during sickness, there is more\less of a certain chemical being distributed in the body that help stimulate romantic feelings?

I don't know. I might just be the only one who's experienced this. Though if there is somebody who's physiology class they studied mentioned this, then please enlighten me on this!

Possibly you feel very much as though you need someone. I haven't experienced it. That's just a guess.

No I haven't thought about it... Perhaps like Alice said, you feel you need someone to take care of you or whatever. Or maybe it's all that alone time that really spurs a lot of thought.

I wouldn't say it's odd or anything because perhaps it's totally possible. We all have our little things that others may not understand :)

That's called Florence Nightengale syndrome, I believe. It's quite common in medieval tales

You haven't been bitten by a radioactive spider lately, have you?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I seem only to have the ability to a)fall for girls who are fictional such as
Kagome,Flay and Mitsuki(anime)or Kes and Ezri Dax(Star Trek).
Alas I cannot say that I have had the privelege of getting that sick that I
fell for my nurse.
If I did 10 to 1 odds she would be around 5'5" tall,115 lbs.,blonde and
blue eyes and of Scots-Dutch ancestry!

I think its why soldiers ( or anyone else ^^;;) in movies fall in love with their nurse, they are in a weak state and like all the attention given to them. =D

I thought that was when you fell in love with someone *else* who's sick, not you falling in love with someone because *you're* sick.

Er, that didn't sound right. :eh: Oh well.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I guess the soldiers falling in love with their nurses would qualify ... got it.

Once in the newspaper, they had report that compared women's (romantic) relationship experience and the chances each had of having a kind of heart disease. It was so odd, most married women = the less chances, then 'single' women had second less chances. The women who had divorced at the most chances of heart disease, followed very closely by the ones who had a husband but he died. (and there were others in between but I forgot, I'm sorry.) I don't know how true this is, but I think it's very odd.

And then, many people around me have said that in their experiences, when a husband or wife dies and they have been together very long, the husband/wife that remains will often die very soon, right after their loved one.

(I don't think this has anything to do with what you're speaking about, sorry...)

(p.s. The newspaper article was in the city newspaper, a normal one. Not the papers with the reports of aliens bringing to life woolly mammoths to invade Iceland, etc.)

To be honest... I cant remember ever feeling compassion for anyone.

*breaks into song*

i was born in a small town
and i live in a small town
i'll probably die in a small town!

so to get to the point I've never met an interesting girl. Hopefully that will change one day but after witnessing all the romantic disasters in this "small town" I doubt I'll ever fall for anyone! =P sorry I can't be of any help =(

I have had the love sickness, but I thought it was cooties!

At the time, I thought girls were, dirty, dirty, full of germs!

But that was when I was 10 and now I know they are, sweet, kind, loving and eat up your money!

I just found out that I have the Tenchi germ now!

Interesting. A syndrome when the patient falls in love with a nurse, or vice-versa (I guess it can go both ways). Whenever I think of that, I immediately think of the movie Back to the Future. :)

The effects I had (especially when I was my teens) is that the feeling hits you out of nowhere when you're sick. The girl that I've never had feelings for suddenly enters my mind, even though I didn't see her in person during my sickness. You know how your mind wonders when you feel ill, right? My guess is that such thoughts just 'appear' out of nowhere in a state of weariness.

I know some crushes happen when you're not sick, but it seems to be much easier to develop feelings when you're really out of it. ^_^

So messy! Romantic relationships break regular relationships in my opinion. I say just be friends with everyone! *frolics and throws flower pedals everywheres*

5'5" and 115?!?!?! No WONDER you've never fallen in love with a real person, there's no real person out there who's that skinny! Ha ha ha, OK, maybe there are some girls like that, but not too many. Alas, I fear if you do meet her, you will soon discover that your beloved nurse is anorexic,. . . .

And no, I've never fallen in love with someone while I was sick. As a matter of fact I rarely ever get sick. I think I was sick . . . two times last year? And maybe once the year before that. The result of having a mother who makes you shove five different vitamins down your throat every morning, ha ha. As to your condition, though, maybe when you're sick you're just chemically unbalanced in some way or another. And when I say "chemically," I mean "hormonally", he he he. . .

Can't say I've had that experience. When I get ill, I want everyone to go away and leave me alone so I can take care of myself xD Love is the LAST thing on my mind. Have you had fevers when you experienced this?

Actually yes. Usually it's that warm feeling of having a fever that I think has something to do with what I have experienced in the past. Of course, not every fever of mine has resulted in any romantic feelings, but usually they came easier that way.
