Matthew 6:5-15. This passage opened my eyes. It's a great outline to how we should pray. The Lord's prayer is very important but seemed to be over looked many times. For most of my life, I suffered through a lot of harsh things, and most my life I prayed. I prayed and prayed and prayed and I felt no change. I would ask the Lord, "why does it have to be this way? Why do I have to go through this when others don't?"
Although I needed a lot of help in the past, I would usually only pray asking the Lord to help me. Hardly did I ever mention anything eles. Why didn't things change? I felt that the Lord didn't care and was just ignoring me. The reason why I felt my prayers to be empty was because they were. I needed to learn to open my heart to others, by praying for them and learn to forgive. The Lord knows your troubles and only wants them to get better... but He also wants us not to forget others who may be hurting too.
True, bad things may be happening to or around you, but there is always refuge in the arms of the Lord. If you fear losing your friends, then try praying for them... try sitting down and talking about y'alls problems together. Pray for yourself, your friends and pray for the things that trouble you at night.
I'm not saying this is the exact anwser, but if you feel that your prayers feel empty... then perhaps its worth a try.
As always, you know I'll be praying for you. Just remember, there are people who do care for you (including many CAA members). So anytime you ever feel really sad, you always have a reason to smile.
Take care.
