Prayer for a fellow Christian

Postby Vash is a plant » Tue Jun 21, 2005 9:03 pm

A dear friend and brother figure, a Christian, ened up getting his girlfirend pregnant. They're getting married next month. Since they're both still in highschool, things are going to be really hard for them. Please pray for the health of the child, their marriage, and that they'll finish school.

Yes I shall pray for them as well. That is no easy thing to go through. They may have done the wrong thing, but getting married is the right thing to do. And it can be a blessing. But they will have to work at.

This is a good example of why it is so important to be Sexual Moral. Paul points out in his letter to the Corinthians that as Christians our body is a temple, a house were good dwells within us, and we are to honor him with our bodies.

“Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.â€

I have a friend (my best friend in fasct) that this happened to except he was in college so he was a bit older, but he did have relations with a girl in High School. So I know how you feel.

I will pray for them.
-"How do we prove we exist...maybe we don't exist."

-"I feel sorry for the dyslexic, agnostic, insomniac...they stay up all night wondering if there is a dog."

-"It's not the fall that kills you...It's the sudden stop at the end."

My God bless their marriage and give them the wisdom they need to raise their child. Not to mention the patience.

Thank you all for your prayers. *bow* They definantly love eachother and know that they have no choice when it comes to staying in school.
They're getting married on the 31th of July and it's going to be an actual wedding with a reception to follow! It'll be fun! ^.^

Please do pray that he tells his best friend (and best man!) soon. He's the only one that doesn't know...

It's a pitty that they both decided to rush into adulthood at such an early age. I'll pray that everything works out and that they will be happy together.

I don't know why so many people do that AS CHRISTIANS (one's supposed to be a virgin until marriage...), and fornication's one of the major sins (goes with adultery).

Ah well, then marriage is the best thing to do! :) (now they'll be stuck together, and can't devorce...)

It'll make up for the the sexual immorality. I hope (it's worse than adultery, actually...^^;). Let's pray that God'll forgive them and take that curse off the baby.
They probably didn't know...

I'll pray for him...deffinately.

All sins are equally bad in God's eyes Ryupower. I don't know where you got that idea. God forgives, but they have to accept His forgiveness and I don't know what your saying about a curse of the baby it sounds a bit condescending.

Vash, I'll pray that they have a blessed marriage built on Jesus and they have a healthy baby also.

I think Ryu is referring to generational curses. Like freemasonry, etc. I'm not sure if the baby has a "curse" over its life, but I do believe that it will be affected to some degree by the sin of its parents. Its like a cycle... for example, a child that has a parent who is an alcoholic or drug addict are more likely to abuse themselves with such substances as well. In this case, the baby might have problems when it grows up with keeping itself pure.

We should pray for the baby, that it will not repeat the mistakes of the parents; that the 'cycle' so to speak will be broken (bt, I say well done for coming clean and marrying each other; it makes the situation even a bit better).

I will give prayer for them as well. I hope them the best of luck in their on-going life, and I sincerely hope that it will not affect their success in the future, God will always be with him, and watch over them.

Oh sorry Talame, I misunderstood! I believe in generational curses too. I think its also the responsibilty of the parents to ask God to break those "generational bonds" also. I've had some from my parents and some people from my church helped me with God's help and many bonds were broken! Praise God!

Same here W4J; Praise be to God that my mum was made aware of them, because now my family is free from such bondages. I'm going to make sure that instead of passing on a generational bondage to my children, I shall by God's grace pass on a Christian heritage like Timothy's mother and grandmother. Let us pray that this baby shall be the like Lois (the grandmother), or if it is a boy like Timothy.
(note; for sake of simplicity, I shall refer to the baby as 'he')

Dear Jesus, thankyou for this wonderful gift of new life. Thankyou for your awesome intelligence in creating us the way we are. We come before you to interceed for a couple and their unborn baby; Lord, although they broke your commands please use this situation to draw them closer to You. Help them to truly repent of this, and break off any powers over their lives that are not from You.

Please help these two precious beings to grow into a Holy Spirit-filled; Christ loving, God fearing couple who will raise the child you have given them to walk in Your ways; help them to train him in the way he should go, so that when the child grows he will not depart from Your way. Lord, please don't let the child make the same mistakes as the parent, but raise him to be a strong man of faith who will walk so close to You; help him not only be a servant but to be Your friend.

In Jesus Holy name,
Amen

[quote="Talame"]Same here W4J]

Yes, every generation has its own responsibility to turn to God. It is just as much our parents responsibility to come to God, as it is our responsibility and will be the responsibility of our children to come. We must turn to him and give the next generation a good example.

Thank you for your testimony Talame, that truly it the right attitude to take.
Trust and turn to him who will make us anew. No matter who you were born to, you can always be born again and become a righteous member of God's family.

God Bless

Exactly! A generational curse. Unless the child'll repant when he's older (yes you need to repant for your parents' and country's sin...)

About the fornication thing, it falls under sexual immorality:

1 Corinthians 6:18-20

18 Flee sexual immorality . Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20
NKJV

It's not just a sin against the Lord, but also against your own body.

I'm so glad the Lord is merciful and that they decided to marry! :)
That's a REALLY good thing...

The high priests had to do it for their country.

They sacrificed a bull every day for Israel's sins.

I never heard of it either W4J, but I am beginning to think it makes sense... that is why there is such a spirit of apathy over Australia. "She'll be right mate" is a term we hear daily. I'm not sure what has caused it, but unless we dont recognise it and fight agaisnt it we are in danger of becoming apathetic ourselves.

Ryupower, I believe that was in the Old Testament. Now, since Jesus came in human form and died and rose to save us from Hell He is our sacrifice. We don't have to sacrifice animals.

Yeah, I know what you mean Talame.

The thing's that many of the people aren'tt Christians, and they sinned. That's the reason we need to repant for them, ask the Lord to forgive them for they don't know what they're doing. It breaks off generational curses and helps them to get saved.

That's an interesting concept... can't say I've heard it before. Perhaps we should start a different thread to talk about this, because we are getting side-tracked from the original purpose of this thread, ie to pray for the couple and their baby
