Atari Flashback 2.0 - this time they got it right

For those of you unfortunate enough to buy the original piece of junk Atari Flashback, you got poor reconstructions of the original games running on the ubiquitous NES-on-a-chip hardware (which also powered the pathetic Intellivision 25-in-one and a few others).

Now A2600 fans will get a real VCS-on-a-chip, running real 6502 code with flicker and all. Plus two joysticks (or use your old Atari 2600 joysticks!), and if you're handy with a soldering iron, you can solder in a cartridge port and use it like a *real* Atari 2600! I already have a 2600A, but for those of you who want something smaller or newer, this might be your ticket.

Certainly it's a great way to get the games, and unlike the original 2600, this has true A/V out.

Are they selling these now? Because I think I sold one to a guy the other day.

The old Flashback, yes. The new 2.0 isn't out yet, I think. The old one is a red/grey unit; this one actually looks like a baby 2600. What type of store do you work in?

Sorry, I don't really know what your talking about, is it about the new console like a remake of the atari they came out with right? I used to have the original in my house, the one called plaque busters or something with the giant teeth was my favorite. :)
Whooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! This is fun!!!!!!!!!! :angel: :lol: :sweat:

yeah, the Atari remake is what I'm talking about.

I work in a horribly organized cd/dvd store where we rip people off regularly. Sorry, I'm gonna refrain from giving the name. ^^;

That's okay -- I wasn't too interested in being ripped off by them ;)

I'm not sure when this new one is supposed to be out, though. But I'll save my pennies.

Wait, is this like a new system up there with PS2 and Xbox or will is it just a small remake with classics? It would be hot if Atari took up making systems again and made 3D remakes of all their classics with storylines. Or make it like the Asteriods remake for PS1....good game, no storlyine.

They tried doing that already, and most of them were flops. This is a recreated 2600-on-a-chip, so it will (theoretically) sing, dance, walk and act like a 2600, which neither dances nor walks. With suitable programming, it could sing, in a sense, I guess.

The Atari was made in the 80s though, right? So would it sing like an 80s singer? I can see it incorporating keyboard somehow....

It's a metaphor.
Take it like you gave it; what else matters in the end? To be honest, it's all a one-shot test; that leaves plenty of places to go wrong, but how will you ever know? There's a pointer, I will admit. Turn it on, listen to it, feel it burn.
