RPG for Gameboy!

Ok, I want an RPG for the Gameboy Really badly. Choose out of the Following four ofwhich i should get or inform me of what that surpasses the greatness of these games. Now remember it`s for GBA not Nintendo BS, er DS. Heh.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones Superb gameâ€¦. of course, it can be a little frustrating like the last game, because when someone dies, they die. Fortunately, this game has an over world, so you can level up and play with your party more.

Sword Of Mana Good action/RPG, but it's presentation is marred by some noticeable flaws. EI, fame rate issues, clipping, mostly "meh" score, low sound FX, etc.

Final Fantasy Tactics = This is basically a odd version of the classic Final Fantasy Tactics. It's more light-hearted and shallow feeling with it's colorful races, bright settings, and lack of story, compared to it's source. Surprisingly, the game play is solid as ever, although the Law system gets annoying later on.

Golden Sun = Great throw back to the SNES days and the sequel is excellent. I really enjoyed the memorable woodwind score.

Others to look into

Tactics Ogre: Knights of Lodis - Excellent turn-based strategy RPG with a great story. The gameplay is very similar to FFT at the core, but with some nice touches to make it stand out.
Breath of Fire I & II - Solid SNES remakes

In order of recommendation:

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones - Excellent game! Certain aspects of this game make it a bit easier than the last, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on your point of view. I'd give this a very solid recommendation.

Golden Sun - It's a solid RPG with some flashy battle animations, clever dungeon puzzles, and a good battle system. On the other hand, the characters come off pretty generic, and the storyline is certainly not original. However, it is quite an enjoyable experience overall. The sequal is better, but you should play Golden Sun first obviously...

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance - It's much more light-hearted than the original FFT. It is also much easier and lacks a strong storyline. It is still a good game however. The Law system is original but can be fairly annoying...

Sword of Mana - Like Link Antilles said, it has some rather noticeable flaws, and some of the added features feel like they were tacked on at the last minute. I'd rate this one about average or above average. I never have gotton around to finishing it...

I borrowed Fire Emlem from my frind and came colse to beating it.

Wait, I`m not sure if I misunderstood him or no but is Golden Sun a remake for an SNES game? I saw the graphics and they`re pretty good.

I would choose Golden Sun or Sword of Mana.

I haven't played either though so I can't comment. It's a shame they haven't brought Seiken Densetsu 3 to America. It was one of the best games for the Super Famicom you never played.

Is it better than Chrono Trigger?

I heard that Sword of Mana was a remake of SD3....it`s part of the same series right?

And is Legend of Mana good?

Just so you know, several RPGs by Square-Enix are to be released on the DS. Just thought you'd know.

If you're into tactical games and have alot of free-time, FFTA is pretty good. Sword of Mana is also pretty good (thought I stopped during the heroine's quest).

I haven't actually played the others, though I would suggest the very good game "Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga" that's-- oh, right. You called it the "worst RPG ever", even thought countless others had a different opinion on it...

Ok, fine I gave that game a second chance, and yes, I highly (or I should say lowly underrated it). It is the worst RPG I`ve ever played but I`ve absolutley loved every RPG VERY much. It appeals to me the same way as FFX2 which I loved BTW, since I ignored the Charlie`s Angels crap.

I have it sitting in my room and I am sorta enjoying it. I like serious RPGs better.
And did you recommend it and then say --'oh right" to be funny? It`s not funny.
I still think making Mario RPGs is a stupid decision IMO.
I can think of countless RPG-lovers who are insulted by the ITO (In Their Opinion) horrendous peace of crap.

I want to slap Squareenix right now. The Nintendo DS IMO is completely being dragged behind PSP....Especially with the constant advertising. I`ve seen more people with DSes than PSPs but MUCH more Poeple with SPs. Square-Enix is better off with GBA, I mean wow, TWO SCREENS! .

Anyways, I think I`ll go with Golden Sun.

Sword of Mana is a remake of the first Seiken Densetsu for GB which was called Final Fantasy Adventure in the U.S. so...yes, it is part of the same series.

Ok, you`re right. So I heard in Golden Sun the main character is a mute and in the loast age he talks a lot.

Golden Sun uses the old-school "silent protagonist" theme.

Therefore, in Golden Sun, Isaac doesn't talk. Felix does however, as he isn't the main character.

In The Lost Age, where Felix is the main protagonist, he gets the "silent" treatment instead of Isaac.

From what I recall, they both talk in the end-of-game epilogue in The Lost Age.

A shame, indeed. Not to mention, Romancing SaGa 3 and Bahamut Lagoon.. or at least what I played of them gave me a good first impression. Be nice if the upcoming Nintendo Revolution would have downloadable US versions of these aforementioned games.

I decided rather Golden Sun than FFTA. I like traditional RPGs for than Stradegy ones.

I think you're mixing that up with the GB's SaGa series. I don't remember any FFAIII.

It's hard to chose. I'm stuck between Golden Sun and Fire Emblem. I guess I can just say this. Golden Sun=best pure rpg game for Advance. Fire Emblem=best tactics game for Advance. Unfortunitely it seems like Lost Age is the last Golden Sun. Although I sure hope it's not that way.

As Myoti said, I believe you are mixing up Seiken Densetsu/Final Fantasy Adventure with the SaGa/Final Fantasy Legend series.

Yes, Legends. SaGa is the jap version of Legends, which was a three part series for the GB. Adventures was a stand alone for the GB that was actually the beginning of the Mana series.
