I'd give it the layout and style of a traditional Sonic game: Sidescrolling goodness. However, Sonic would have HP which would be recovered by rings, and the enemies wouldn't alway go down in one hit. (They'd have HP too.)
Sonic would also have upgradable skills to blast through enemies and the environment. (Like sending out shockwaves when he lands after a jump, or increased running speed. Nothing that you'd need to scroll through and pick, just gameplay perks.) Sonic would get skill points for zipping through the levels and blowing enemies to bits, and he could spend them when the level ends.
For graphics, I'd either give it cel-shaded 3-D on a track, or the same as that one SaGa game on PS2 that looked nice but sucked.
Finally, there'd be lots of neat platforming elements like running up walls PoP style, then bouncing from that wall to the next.

I love Sonic, particularly the old Genesis games. They were (still are) awesome. The newer games have been pretty good for the most part, but can't match the old-school goodness.

Sonic Games

Postby SonicRose » Tue Jun 28, 2005 1:14 am

Sonic games I've played..........

Sega Genesis: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic Spinball, Sonic 3-D Blast

Sega CD: Sonic CD

32X: Knuckles' Chaotix

Game Gear: Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic Chaos, Sonic Triple Trouble, Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic Blast, Sonic Drift 2, Tails' Adventure

Sega Saturn: Sonic R, Sonic Jam

PC: Sonic & Knuckles Collection, Sonic R, Sonic CD

Sega Dream Cast: Sonic Adventure/Sonic Adventure 2

Game Cube: Sonic Adventure; DX, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, Sonic Heroes

PS2: Sonic Heroes

Game Boy Advance: Sonic Advance, Sonic Advance 2, Sonic Advance 3, Sonic Battle

-------------------------------------------------
Sonic Games missing from my collection: Sonic Drift 1, Sonic the Fighters, Sonic Arcade, Sonic Spinball (Game Gear), Tails' Sky Patrol (GG), and Sonic the Hedgehog for NeoGeoPocket
-------------------------------------------------

That said...

My all time Favorite Classic Sonic is...

S3&K :3, I so pwn at that. - Emeralds, Super Emeralds, Super Tails, so many levels, it's a hedgehogie shmorgasborg :3 nnifty bonus stages,,, mmm ^_^

My least favorite Sonic game...

Sonic 3D Blast - It's just simply too easy.

My Fav Handheld game is...

Sonic Triple Trouble - It's fun, engaging, challenging but moves along well. It also has Fang the Sniper in it :3

My least Fav Handheld game is...

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 - C'mon, when I can't get past the first boss, it's bad.

Fav 3D Sonic game - Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes.

Why two? I can't pick. Sonic Adventure 2 has lots of classic things, and a linear story. It would be first on my list, especially with Shadou in there, but I didn't like being forced to play Tails in a mech and could well have skipped the dark side storyline. Sonic Heroes also fits into first, because I like the linear storyline, and having all three characters you like out at once. It also marks the return of the Chaotix (minus Mighty), and noone's left out of the game. Really! Eggman's the villain and you know it, the plot, well who cares about plot? It's good gaming fun :3

Least Favorite 3D Sonic Game...

Sonic 3D Blast. Yay! this makes it into the best of the worst twice! If it weren't for Yuji Naka being involved on NiGHTs, we probably would've gotten Sonic X out of the deal... Oh well... I Love NigHTs to d34th :3

So there you have it - my short synopsis.
Your arms are too short to box with God.

I saw advertisments for NiGHTS while playing Sonic Adventure 2. And I thought Knuckles Choatix was for Segs Saturn.

I`d assume Saturn`s graphics were pretty good at the time considering Grandia 1 was for it. Oooh, 3D......

Sonic 3D Blast rocked my socks. It was challeging and fun. Sonic Triple Trouble was simply deh easiest Sonic me has ever played. It`s also my fave for gamegear. Sometimes, easy is more enjoyable.

A Sonic RPG isn't all that far fetched...
http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/06/10/news_6127362.html

Sonic is my "younger brother." We both grew up with each other. ^_^

My favorite is Sonic 2, followed by Sonic 1, and then Sonic CD. Yup.

I didn't like all of the Sonic Adventure games. They had good points, but I really don't want to play them again. *those games collecting dust* I guess I'm just too old fashioned... Hea. ^^;

The Advanced series is like retelling the stories of Sonic 1 and 2. I didn't like that, but I was glad he was 2D again.

I didn't care much for Sonic Adventure 2 because, well, parts of it were really lame. Such as Tails being in a mech. I also don't like being ranked, and having to achieve high ranks in order to unlock bonus stuff. I don't like games where your progress is graded, period, except for bragging rights. Because I suck at getting A rank or S rank or whatever rank is highest in a game.

I had to use a Gameshark to get A-ranks in Sonic Adventure 2 so I could get Green Hill Zone unlocked. *stabs Sega*

Sonic Adventure 1 was good, though Big could've been taken out of the game with no repercussions. I still have yet to complete all the missions though so I can unlock the Tails Game Gear game...sigh.

Sonic 3D Blast had good music, and that's about it. The Special Stages were lame and beyond easy. I don't think I ever failed a single one.

You know, it'd be fun to be able to create your own characters. I mean, look at all the new and unique charcters they have (like the new Blaze the Cat).

Oh, has anyone heard about the new "Sonic Rush" for DS? (not the one where you rub your finger on the bottom)
It's made where Sonic runs around on both screens and Sonic is actually 3-D while everything else is 2-D.
Sounds like it could be pretty good to me.

Old news, actually. look in the past journal entries of my DA journal (http://frwl.deviantart.com) to see what about that collection has me hyped up.

I just read an article about this.

There will also be six Game Gear Sonic games on this. One of them is one I've wanted to play, but had to be unlocked on Sonic Adventure for Gamecube, and I'm no good at unlocking stuff. So this will give me a chance to FINALLY play Tails' Adventure.

An option to switch between the American and Japanese soundtracks on Sonic CD would ALSO be rockin'. Let's hope Sega listens.

But really, I'm just waiting (im)patiently for a chance to FINALLY PLAY SONIC CD AGAIN!

"Sonic Gems", right?

Why not call it "Sonic Emeralds?"

So what if that pun was lame?

It probably will be Emeralds in the US. The literal translation from Japanese for those Chaos "Emeralds" is actually "Gems"
