Just look at the graphics. They look like something a horse vomited out. You could do way better than that.

Get ready to spend a bundle on memory cards. It's gonna take an entire card just to make your epic. You are also limited on the resources you can use. AND if you don't have a PS2 keyboard, you are really screwed, because it will take a lot of clunking around with the controller.
Learning curve to be able to produce games that compare to RPG maker on C++ or Basic? Very steep. Learning curve to do them on RPG maker? Moderate. Time to make projects on RPG maker? About a week for a 2 hour game. Time to make projects in C++? I don't know for sure, but let's say a project similar to our 2 hour RPG maker project? Probably a couple months. Anything better than that? A long time...Wanna program? Learn BASIC and C++. You can make something a whole lot better.
