Why do you Believe?

Hm... I had to ponder what to post here. Michael brings up a very good point, that Christianity is about not focusing on the self. However, it is also true that God does not force us. He found me partially because I was willing to be found, and that is what this post is intended to address.

To keep on the topic, I won't go into the process by which I came to faith, except to say it is similar to what termyt and cbwing0 described. Having found a logical conclusion, I find that it continues to grow stronger as time passes. My faith is based upon a multitude of arguments, so much that I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt on the issues that I do not understand.

There are two other things that, while not evidence for faith alone, do provide collaborative evidence. One is that, despite all the pain I see Christians causing, I see so much more good. Another is that I have never seen a system of belief that so frequently causes individuals to undergo positive transformations. I have yet to see a criminal become a kind person after converting to secular humanism.

I believe because I have seen and I have known. I believe in Jesus because I have met him. (and I dont' mean the random Mexican dude)

You can't argue with experience.

There are very few options in my opinion to Christianity.The only two alternatives
that I see are either Buddhism or Atheism but they both lack that something
that there is about Christianity that in the title of J.B.Philips' book is a Ring of Truth.
Personally I remain a Christian because it is the most logical of all options.
I remain a Calvinist(again as noted I don't wish to start a theology war here)because that is the only theology I know that makes the most sense out of Christianity.
If I were a Catholic I know I would definitely be an Augustinian in theology like
the Pope,but that is besides the point.
The point is just like the apostles said to Christ he was the only one they could go to for the words of eternal life and the same holds true for today and tommorrow as well.

I should point out that while I am a Calvinist that doesn't necessarily mean I can't
see myself converting to Catholicism some time later on in life.I don't think we
should never say never as one can't tell what will happen in the future.It might be
that the woman I marry will end up being a Catholic,in that case I would definitely
convert since I do not believe in raising children in a religiously divided household.
I believe that a family that is united in their religious faith is that much stronger.

After all he's done in my life, there is no way I could NOT believe in him. It would be like.... eating a bowl of popcorn, walking away, and doubting the popcorn ever existed. (Sorry, I'm bad at analogies XD)

I could spend the entire day typing up a list of everything he's done for me.

I think though for those of us who come from Christian families as opposed to the others who came from outside the faith the reasons might be different.
