Since you don't want this thread to turn into a console war, I will simply say that I disagree with you. If you would like me to provide specific examples and reasoning for my disagreement, send me a PM :) .

I will admit that if Sony and Microsoft had been in console gaming as long as Nintendo, they might be using the same tired tricks with their mascots. Then again, I haven't heard anything about a new Crash Bandicoot game on the PS3...

Why say Suxxor when you could just say Sucks. Is that what they say in Manga or something?

And I sort of am old enough because my frist sytem was NES with Mario Bros 1,2, and 3 and I beat them all at age 6.

it seems like my comment with FFX and 'the mustard is your doom' didn`t put smiles on your faces. I thought it was funny.

I'm siding with MSP, and Zlich on this one, we all have opinions, but it isn't always in everyone's best interest to share it, especially if all it's going to do is tear something down.

It's just what some people say online.

Yes, it was funny, but FF is not the type to have something quite that random (though they are funny sometimes).

Ok, personally, I don't think the Mario games are doign any worse than they have before. There's just more "hardcore" choices now that many people have moved away and apparently thought Mario should just get out of the way. I still like Mario, and so do many others, or else they wouldn't buy his games. All the games I'm looking forward to are either made by Nintendo or Square-Enix, and one game I'm extremely excited about is-- here it comes-- "Mario and Luigi 2".

And just wondering, did you actually beat Superstar Saga?

If you don't like new Sonic or Mario games, that's fine...

But condemning them just because they use an established franchise is lunacy.
Both Sonic Adventure and Mario Sunshine got great scores across the board. Why? They were good games.

I have enjoyed all of the Mario RPGs, but I can understand why some people wouldn't. They don't have the words "final" or "fantasy" in the title.

Here's a better idea: Play the games YOU like.
I don't really like HALO very much (I do believe it is a very good game, however), so I don't have an Xbox. I have a GameCube because I like the games on it. I have a PS2 because there are a lot of good games on it. Just worry about what you like.

Yeah, like I`d waste time playing a crapfest like that long enough to beat it.

Online, my friends say: "Sux."

I didn't see the need to comment at the time, but had that occured, yes, I would have found it funny.

Easy there. Why is it that you disliked the game so much? [Actually, the question was unnecessary, as it should have been obvious that he hadn't played very long, in that he thought the game was about Peach's voice.]

Ok, STOP ASSUMMING I HATE ALL MARIO GAMES!!!!!!!!!

THE ONLY ONE I BASHED IN THIS ENTIRE THREAD IS SuperStar saga.

And don`t pull that:
"I don`t like it because it didn`t have the words 'final' or 'fantasy' in them."

it just so happens my second least favorite turnbased combat system award goes to ATB. It`s so unoriginal. It was fun but the most simple you can get. I`m with Grandia.

And Mario Sunshine may have had decent gameplay BUT DON`T GET ME STARTED ON THE PLOT!

The reason, I capitilized alot of things is because I`m saying these things over and over like: "I heard Paper mario was fun" and then you say stuff like: "why do you hate paper mario?'

Oh, so the plot gets more developed. So does Peach then loose her hearing? I watched my friend beat the game, i know the plot.

The most annoying thing about Super Mario Brothers:

"Thankyou Mario for putting your life at risk and saving us, BUT THE PRINCESS IS IN ANOTHER CASTLE!"

Surprising how the wisest words ending up coming from the youngest person here (no offense ZiP).

I agree. Halo is proven to be a good game, but I don't like it as much as I do alot of other games. Superstar Sage is proven to be a good game, and I understand that some people like it, but there's no reason to go on and on about how "Crappy" you think it is.

Oh, and another thing. Does anyone else here remember when 90% of very good games had little to no plot in them? I do, so I don't quite understand your deal with the Mario game plots.

Plot of Super Mario Bros. - move from left to right and kill everything

Plot of Super Mario Bros. 2 - move from left to right and throw vegetables to kill everything

Plot of Super Mario Bros. 3 - move from left to right and kill everything

Wow, Myoti, Tom is right! The old NES Mario Bros. games had MUCH better plots than Superstar Saga! :P

Wow, I wish I'd gotten here sooner. Personally, I love Superstar Saga. Instead of only relying on leveling up to protect you from enemy attacks and deal more damage you actually had to get good at the button presses. The more skilled you got and the better you could spot your enemy's giveaway, the better you did.

I love Fawfull. That was the best character in the whole game. "Your life is a charicature drawn by a child that is stupid!" Classic.

Tom Dincht wrote:And Mario Sunshine may have had decent gameplay BUT DON`T GET ME STARTED ON THE PLOT!

Yes, I hated the plot for that game too (I walked around in a daze for a while after beating that), yet I still enjoyed it.

The reason everyone is getting upset is because everyone is yelling (Well, technically no one's actually yelling). You must take a deep breath, stretch, and (if need be) take a jog around the block before you post if you feel you're going to go off on someone. Remember these words and reflect upon them.

And no, I didn't target the previous paragraph toward a specific person or persons so don't yell at me (Unless the above doesn't work, then you are allowed to get angry with me).

Listen, it just seem like people who are Nintendo fanboys and/or fangirls are the only people who like Superstar Saga. If you mention the two words "Final Fantasy" in front of my friends they will not like you unless you have something bad to say about it.

Same with Mario RPGs. The games my friends like and most people are hangout with are sports and shooters. They know I play FF and mess with me cuz of it once and awhile but i don`t mind. Sorry but Superstar Saga appleals to me as a game for 4-year-olds and Nintendo fangirl/fanboys and we`ll leave it that and discuss different Mario games in a positive light. That`s my opinion ok.

Ok, don`t mess with me, buddy by using that sarcasm. The plots for the origianl were better because it`s better to have no plot then to have a crappy plot that deserves to be destroyed. SUPERSTAR SAGA was a disgrace to all RPGs!!!! It gave people a horrible idea of turnbased games. Mario needs to get back to sidescrollers and stop messing with genres that are known for beautiful characters, moving storylines, and hardcore battle engines for games that are ....ugh...
SERIOUS! Mario isn`t serious. I don`t know how Super Mario RPG worked out, but RPGs aren`t appealing at all if all they do is joke around have annyoing effects.
My friend played this game on his DS and turned the volume up and I was in a bad mood and I ended up taking it and smashing it to the ground. Normally RPGs have great composers, Superstar Saga`s music makes people want to throw fists through walls.
Sorry, I said i was done talking about it in the previous post but i just saw kaemmerite`s comment and got REALLY ticked. Just drop the Superstar Saga crap for now.

*Splashes Tom with cold water* Dude...CHILL. No one here is going to hate you if you like Final Fantasy. No one here is going to hate you if you hate Mario. 'Tis a simple matter of opinion, and methinks you're taking it a bit too seriously. RPG's don't have to be serious if the game designers don't want them to be; it's called artistic liscense. Lighten up, d00d. Don't start flaming on a matter this petty. :thumb: Now, get up, and go play Final Fantasy to calm your nerves.

I am so sorry. But this must be posted. For the sake of Maybe...just maybe someone working at nintendo, finding it, reading it, and using it.

Ok. well, Nintendo does NOT suck. It simply is behind. and it's not keeping up.

Nintendo's Consoles are always Behind in Features (not graphics nessessarily)

#1) In the old days, you could SAVE your game on the NES, while on the Genesis you could NOT.
#2) Nintendo Kept up with the graphics war with it's SNES.
--------MODERN TIMES COME IN-----------
#1) While the Playstation had features like CDs which could hold tons of content, movies, and cost a LOT less, The N64 stuck with it's Cartridges refusing to let go.

#2) When the Playstation could play CDs, the N64 could not, big deal? YES, it was, CDs were BIG back then.

#3) The Dreamcast is announced and it too can play CDs, it's also CD-Rom based, and it can connect to the internet, you could even surf the web on your dreamcast. The gamecube cannot :( , and even so, Nintendo ignored the UPcoming Rise of Online Gamplay and simply pretended like it was a fad. As we can see now, that was a big mistake.

#4) The PS2 is now introduced and it can play DVDs, it even uses DVDs for it's games, which allow developers to store 4+gigs onto 1 disc. Nintendo decides to use Mini-DVDs that hold 1.8 gigs. Forcing many develoeprs to Compress the #*(@&$#@ out of their games, or put the game on 2 discs, or simply NOT release the game becuase of the 1.8 gig limit (GTAuto cannot work on a gamecube becuase the game's massive expanded world must load on 1 continual disc, or else you'd have to switch back and forth everytime you went from 1 side of the city to the other)

So here we've got nintendo refusing to add a CD player or DVD player onto their conosle. They see this as non-important, and this idea of Sony's and Sega's, To make the Console a Media Center, to nintendo, was a bunch of garbage and unnessessary. (another bad move)
-----------LETS REVIEW-----------------------------------------------
N64........................................................................Playstation
-Had to buy Rumble pack seperately for controller......-came automaticly built in
-used old cartridge system.......................................-used new 700mb CDs
-played only games..................................................-played CDs too

GameCube..............................................................PS2 & Xbox
Used 1.8 gig mini-DVDs............................................used 4+gig DVDs
played only games...................................................plays CDs & DVDs too
built in rumble for controller......................................already had built in rumble
minimal online support.............................................online support
no expansion for hard-drive......................................hard-drive support

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you see the pattern?
Nintendo is ALWAYS behind.
It's like Sony and Microsoft are DRAGGING nintendo, forcing them to advance in order to stay in the race.

Nintendo isn't the one doing to revolutionizing, it's the other companies. They are the reason nintendo is advancing at all.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E3 2005
Nintendo announces it's going to support online play, and it's New Console will play DVDs... FINALLY. WOW. That was SO 4 years ago I bet they're going to announce a Hard Drive Expansion Bay like it's the Newest thing to hit the market.

But..I love nintendo, because it represents the roots of gaming. But with all of this evidence before us... I'm begining to see the truth.

Nintendo isn't a pioneer at all. It's just a japanese Playing Card company that got LUCKY, and hit it big time. Only because back then, it wasn't about power and creativity, and electronics, it was about a name, a game, and selling strategy. But when times changed and Advanced, and called for actual Talent, and advancement, Nintendo began lagging behind in the very industry it (accidently) helped create.

I really hope nintendo has a secret weapon, Becuase it does NOT look good for them. Each Console selling double less what the prevoius did.

They need to KILL Mario and Luigi and all the rest of those Old farts. And start advancing. "mario and the classic characters ARE nintendo"... exactly, an attitude like that is the reason they are behind and are close to going out of Biz in the console industry.

And if these "old school mascots" are the only thing keeping Nintendo up. then they are weak just as we've predicted. If they can't find something other than that stupid Italian Plumber, prissy Princess, King Kong Ripp-off, and Growth-Stunned Elf. Then they are simply..."Screwed"

I cried as I wrote this, because on one hand, i don't want them to leave, then again, it's the truth -_-
I'm leaving CAA perminantly. i've wanted to do this for a long time but I've never gathered the courage to let go.
