oopsie. i said "nope" but then learned that it meant both the movie and musical...I love the musical (16th birthday present! w00t!) and the movie I thought was "meh".

I liked it. In fact, I like anything Phantom. I bet you're all surprised.

Phantom of the Opera made me....

Postby Heart of Sword » Sat Jun 04, 2005 9:59 am

....laugh. Hysterically.

I don't know why. Is that bad? It's just...everyone is soooooooooo melodramatic and his mask looked really stupid and goofy...I guess I really couldn't help but crack up.

Problem is, supposedly I was cracking up during the most depressing parts...

And everyone around me was bawling. Does that mean I've got no feelings or something?

I just can't see why people think it's sad. It's really not...I don't know...I guess I'm just weird. :P

I personally liked Phantom of the Opera, but I have had that happen with other dramatic/serious types of shows or movies.

It can be preeetty awkward when your the only one laughing

All it means is that you have a HEART OF STONE!!!

You know what, it's all good. I also have a bad habit of laughing at inappropriate parts. I like PotO, but mostly for the music. It lacked the emotional effect of Les Mis.

Loved the movie; the whole production was so sumptuous. A real gem. And of course, nothing more needs to be said about the great Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. And a huge thank you to Gaston Leroux for creating the Phantom of the Opera in the first place.

I think... I am obssessed with the (new?) movie. I heard there were ones made before and that they were different. I listen to the soundtrack alot. I really liked the Phantom. His voice is very nice, I think it is, at least; and then his acting was great. And he hanged people. And he made those nice songs. Killing and writing music.

Heart of Sword, there is nothing wrong with you. This is very rare for me because it was a musical and a romantic, but I liked it. Usually I laugh at it too. (but for me, this movie is just different.) I don't know if it will make you feel better, that me and my friend was laughing like idiots during Spiderman 2 when he was all depressed and stuff. Yes, we were the only ones laughing.

I'm sorry, I don't think I posted anything important..

Phantom was another one of those few movies that can almost make me cry. It's just so sad when he's sitting in his cave all by himself singing, "Masquerade...Paper faces on parade, masquerade...Hide your face so the world can never find you.."

That part is SO sad to me!! I guess it's because he was treated so harshly for the way he looked, and now his whole life has been a "masquerade," so to speak. .~_~.

The part about Phantom that cracks me up is when he's singing or being really serious, and his upper lip is sticking out because he has that mask on...XD XD THAT is just TOO FUNNY!! XD

It was great, even though I laughed through about half of it. I wasn't offended at all (just a few nude statues in the opera house here and there), and I'm easily offended. I prefer it over the play just because the actor's reeeeeally purdy in the movie.

I laways get sad when the Phantom sings: "This face which earned a mother's fear and loathing, a mask my first unfeeling scrap of clothing." My friend had a big discussion about what kind of mother would do that to her child, because we both felt that we would love them just the same if they were deformed.

YAY!!! I finally got the soundtrack!!!

I'm intending to listen to it until my ears fall off...or my batteries die. Uh, yeah, that's my contribution to all the deep conversations about sadness. I'm happy!

OOOOOHHHH YEAH.....that was one of the things that was making me explode......

Oh, and supposedly, when he has that flip-out spaz at the beginning because Christine took his mask off...supposedly, he sounded a lot like me in the morning. (According to a friend or two, at least... )

Wait a second, why'd she take his mask off at the end again? Just to tick him off? (Boy, is she smart...o_O) Seriously, though, he overreacted big time...it's not THAT big of a deal... o_o

Question: did ne one else find Raoul very non-attractive? sry. i did.

*raises hand* Phantom's cuter!!!!!!!!! ^.^

...

<.< >.>

VVV A picture...cute...but look, the upper-lip thing is going on... (That mask must have been sooooo uncomfortable...I'll bet the actor was in a BIG hurry to get it off when he was done filming for a few minutes.)

So yeah, I just saw this movie last night. My sister and I watched it. Oh maaaaaaan, I loved it. I want it for Christmas. The music was awesome, the costumes and settings...oh man, it was just incredible. I saw the original performance when I was in London a few years back, and I didn't think ANYTHING could top that. I'm thinking about investing in the soundtrack....

From what I can tell, I think I just have the normal run of the mill movie soundtrack. I still love it though, I've had 'Music of the Night', 'Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again', 'Point of No Return' and 'Down Once More' on endless repeat.

Outta curiosity, what all's different about the Special Edition?

Every song. Even the short little parts when the characters are talking to each other. That's the one I want! *huggles Phantom* I absolutely LOVE all of those songs. Music of the Night be my favorite though.

Hehe, I thought...well...I messed up a line. Bad. There was this part where Phantom's really mad and he goes "Pity comes too late, turn around and face your fate" and I thought it was...hehe..."Pretty comes too late..." Uh. Yeah. o_O

Something that's getting on my nerves lately.

People seem to want to compare Phantom to Satan and Raoul to Jesus. >_< Then they think Phantom's evil. I don't see that at all. Phantom's not evil...does anyone here agree with me? (I get mad when people make allegories out of every little thing--especially this. I refuse to let anyone ruin my favorite movie...-_- )

Child of the wilderness
Born into emptiness
Learn to be lonely
Learn to find your way in darkness

Who will be there for you?
Comfort and care for you?
Learn to be lonely
Learn to be your own companion

Ever dreamed out in the world
There are arms to hold you?
You’ve always known
Your heart was on its own

So laugh in your loneliness
Child of the wilderness
Learn to be lonely
Learn how to love life that is lived alone

Learn to be lonely
Life can be lived
Life can be loved alone

How can anyone say he's evil?? :waah!: (I'm just ranting...)

So true. Phantom is not evil, just unbeleivably hurt and scarred from an abusive childhood so he takes it to extremes. Raoul and Jeses? NO WAY! >.< Oh, btw, my soundtrack came today! I'm happy to announce it is a very good investment.

That idea holds about as much water as a sieve.

Raoul fans make me laugh hard. Have you guys read the book? Gaston characterizes him as a girly man. Honestly.
