Has This Ever Happened to You?

Postby Fireproof » Sun May 29, 2005 8:16 pm

Okay, on Friday night I was at my friend's house, so I decided to play Halo. I started on Medium difficulty, with default settings. Then, something magical happened. When I started playing, I was inexplicably better. I finished the entire first mission without dying due to enemy fire. (Fell off a few ledges in the space part, but that's just because I forgot the way through. XD) I nearly did the same in the second mission. I declare myself, "average at Halo."
Has something like this happened to anyone else?

I sometimes find that I randomly improve at various skills. Perhaps the game has been sifting in the back of your subconscious and you've figured out something about the game dynamics without realizing it.
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

Very noticeable when you play the same game over and over again. I noticed it often when I play BM, just one day, I can pass this song that I could never pass before with flying colours and not a single miss, and again, and again, and again.

Sonic 1 and 2. The very first two console games I have ever owned. When I first got them, there were hard as heck to me. For some reason now, I can blast through them without breaking a sweat. Same for most of my other favorite games I've played to death.

I played Asteroids in 1989. I played it again in 2004. I think I improved a bit.

I tend to finally figure out something like a puzzle or how to defeat this boss, etc., when I'm not actually playing the game.

Hmm, unfortunately, I have yet to have that happen with myself and Halo. Last time I played online, I kinda jumped out of an elevator lift backwards into an enemy base that was occupied by three guys packing some massive firepower. Needless to say, I was dead in about 3 seconds. Though I did manage to pick off one of the enemy team members, by accident, with a sniper rifle at a later point. Yeah! I rock! (yup, I'm delusional a proud of it)

Ah well, FPS games might move too fast for me, but I'll always have my RPGs. Yesh. *nods*

It happens. You ever wonder what gave those guys that design RPGs the idea for skill rank increases? Maybe it ties to something real.

I was playing Unrealy Tournament 2004 and I only had this game for 2 months and haven't been playing it that much. So, no matter how hard I try.... I get owned. Well one day I go on and I start shooting and actually got in 1st place out of 10 people. I was shocked..... but I went back to getting owned 10 rounds later.

You might have 'Kill Bonus' on. I makes you faster the more you kill. Very cheap, IMO.

Or aliens could be controling your body.

There is a Japanese guy who can beat Super Mario 3 in 15 minutes without cheating, getting hit, or dying once. No joke. There was a video of it somewhere on the internet.

I usually suck really badly in Counterstrike. Usually less than ten kills for the entire game. Today, I played at school and got over 30.
