Maybe you should put the girl symbol next to your name?

But, I guess that wouldn't help you in real life.

I can't believe this story. I just can't. It's too funny.

Anyway, I've gotten weird looks too. I can't do anything without getting carded and my mother says a I dress like a kid. To top it off kids have even hit on me. :shady: Well, better than being hit on by old perverts. *Shudder* It's hard to restrain one's self from violence.

Well it just goes to show sometimes clothes do make the man, or woman, or alien in my case.

When i was in 9th grade my sister, livewire, and 7 or 8 cousins went to the 7 11 for soem candy. The little kids started acting up so Desiree and I stayed in to pay for it while livewire took everyone else outside. The storeclerk said to Desiree and I "Gee it looks like your mom is having trouble with your little brothers and sisters." We said yeah. It was pretty funny considering shes 3 years younger then me and Desiree is 2 years younger then her. Livewire was pretty mad at us too.

When I was seventeen, my brothers and I went to Disney World. The Disney characters brought us the food. Well, my younger brother ordered off the kids menu and I ordered something off the lunch menu.
Guess where they put the kid's meal? Right in front of me.

Everyone thinks I'm younger than I am. One lady that used to go to my church made a comment saying I never grow older--I always look the same.

I've only had one person say I looked a couple of years older than I am. And she was terrible at guessing peoples' ages and what not. So, she doesn't even count!
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone
And so hold on when there is nothing left in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' ...you'll be a Man, my son!

<_< . . >_> . . people think I'm 16-18 . . . I honestly don't get it, lol! I remember one time I was talking with this lady from my youth when we first met, and she asked me what grade I was in, well, I replyed "8th" she suddenly got this SHOCKED expresion and said "you got held back that long?" I SO wanted to burst out laughing, but I held it in and expalained how I was in fact NOT held back, how in fact I skiped a grade and then she went into the whole thing that I get from most people how I look like I'm at LEAST 16 *rolls eyes*

I used to get mistaken for being younger than I am all the time. People would ask my younger brother about me, and be shocked to learn that I was older, enough to swear in shock if they were so inclined. I also had to have my mom tell my cousin I was in the eigth grade because she wouldn't believe I was that old. It's better now that I wear make-up, but I still surprise people.

My dad looks young for his age, so does my older sister. They both won one time at the "age guessing booth." Their age had to be guessed within something like five years. They both won a prize and left feeling really good. :)

I wanted to try, but I think the lady could've guessed me withing five years.

Well, as Osaka said, everybody seems to usually think I'm the older sister. Don't really know why. Maybe it's because I'm like an inch or two taller? I mean, I can't really understand at all how people can look at her, then me, and say that I look older. I think most people are either blind or stupid, more often the latter than the former. (All though, in their favor, at least we are kind of close in age. I'm only 18 months younger than she is.)

About some of you people getting your gender mistaken by children, I think I've figured out why this happens. Little kids haven't quite come to understand the basis for gender assumption. They see long hair, they think girl. They see short hair, they think boy. They haven't come to realize all the other gender defining characteristics. . . . yeah. So don't worry too much about it. You probably did it when you were a kid too :P.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Yeah, but those who do are often pretty hot.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Don't let it bother you too much. =) Hopefully that younger look (whether it is something in the way you carry yourself, the expressions on your face, your speech, your build, or just your skin) will last you a while.

People generally think I'm younger than 19. When I started my job (and later when I transferred to a new location), everyone seemed surprised that I was "that old" and several said that I looked like I was still in high school.
They had to keep asking if I was 18 so that I was able to operate certain machinery. xP

I think I look too old for 19, but most people think I look at least a year or two younger, so I'm ok with that.

I HAVE gotten mistaken for 16 a few times, allthough I'm pretty sure I look older than that. When I was 13, I was always mistaken for a girl on the phone. It was very annoying.

Several years ago at my old job, there was a guy who was 16 but literally looked and sounded 12. Joked one of my co-workers: "They're hiring them younger and younger each day."

Shatterheart.... that earlier post was one of the best I've ever read here. "Mommy, is that a girl?"

The most annoying thing is when you are in charge of something by virtue of your age and no one above you listens to you because they do not realize who you are. Once at camp, I was a counselor with a friend and she and I were trying to tell the pastor and his wife who were heading a particular activity what we thought we should do and what needed to be done. They kept dismissing us in a very condescending manner and laughing at us in similiarly infuriating way, in a manner they might reserve for a precocious child. My friend and I were steaming mad but we dealt with it in silence. Finally, we returned to the camp and one of the head counselors came to get us for a counselors meeting, and the couple said, "You two were the counselors? We thought you were campers." Well duh! That was aggravating.

I suppose I am one of those rare people who actually looks fairly close to my age. I do have a beard, but it isn't an "old fart" beard, mainly because my beard won't grow that long. :/

My hair isn't long enough to where I've been mistaken for a woman yet, but I'm trying to get it there.

And then I'll hunt you down and cut it while you sleep.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.
