"Honey, I wouldn't have thought you were a day older than fifteen!"

Talk about anything in here.

"Honey, I wouldn't have thought you were a day older than fifteen!"

Postby Mangafanatic » Tue May 31, 2005 7:31 am

ARGH! Okay, I just want to rip my hair out.

Now on my normal days (The kind when I have time to follow through with all my super girl habits [make up, flat ironing my hair, ect]) I look very much my age. A little older on good days, but on days when I'm traveling or I have to get up early, I APPARENTLY, much younger than I am. . .

AND PEOPLE HAVE NO TACT!! AH!! I've gotta vent here:

Well, on our way back from vacation, we got up really earily so we could return the rental car that we got after our car completely died on us ( :( ). That said, I just threw on my clothes, jumped in the car, and slept. Well, when we got to the airport where we were to return the car, I went in with my dad to return the keys. While we were at the desk, I was joking with my dad about his AARP card making him an official old person. The woman at the rental desk must have thought I was pretty funny because she said to my dad "She's a smart little thing. I think you should keep her around." And like good dad, he agreed.

After that, she turned to me and said "So how old are you, honey?"

"I'm [Herd of cattle trample through the thread, drowning our Osaka's words] years old."

"THAT OLD!? Honey, I wouldn't have thought you were a day older than fifteen!"

GEEZ! People have no tact! And that's not the first time this has happened to me. People are always telling Yumie (infront of me) that they would have DEFINITELY thought she was older. Argh!

So, does this happen to anyone else?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Lol sorry, Im usually told I look older than I am. Except one time, this lady at my moms work was like, "You look like your 13" she was surprised that I was 16 :P lol. I'd never been told that before...it dosn't really bug me...but if people kept telling me that, yeah..it would probably get on my nerves.

I've gotten that before. People think my younger brother is older than me because he's got a good four or five inches on me in height, and a lovely eight when I slump. I've since stopped slumping, but they still think he's older than me sometimes. I am quick to let them know they are stupid.

Don't fuss, honey. I used to get that too..."You look so much younger than that", but you should remember that will come in handy in the future. There's nothing worse than to be in your mid twenties and be told that you look like a nice sophisticated mid twenties year old. Well...maybe being in your mid fourties or fifties and looking like it. Anyway, most of the time, the age will catch up with you.

Looking younger is always better ;)

Yeah, I don't talk to a whole lot of people, but when I do, they often ask me what grade I'm in. "Junior? Senior?" they ask. My reply: "I got an AA a few years back and I'm working full-time now."

You think thats bad? The other day at work...I had a mother and small child walk by where I was working. As I reached to grab a box off my cart...I hear.

"Mommy...is that a girl?" I just smiled...of course the woman was mortified...quickly rushed her child to another aisle. I was tempted to spin around roll my eyes back and say..."NO CHILD, I AM THE MONSTER THAT LIVES UNDER YOUR BED...IM GONNA EAT YOUR LIPS!" But I was nice...and refrained. As far as age goes...when I am clean shaven...people think I am younger then I am. But with the goat and hair...most times people think I am older.

I feel your pain Shatterheart! I used to have shorter hair and I had a few incidences of being mistaken for a guy, by adults no less.

Other than that, most people can't believe I'm in college, they keep thinking I'm in high school or something, even though I'm turning 20 in a couple of weeks. I think that's pretty normal for my age group though.

Well I get mistaken for younger on the phone and in person. They usually think I'm an elementary student on the phone since my voice is high. The Decon thought i was 13. -_-. Usually they think I'm between 16 and 19. Once when i was 19 I was mistaken for a boy. It must have been the short hair and the heavy millitary jacket. Without the jacket no one in there right mind would have mistaken me as a boy. -_-

*hugs Osaka* Don't worry, I get mistaken for a boy and a 13-year old all the time. Looking younger will definitely be worth it 20 years from now, though, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. ^.~

As for looking like a boy...well... I think it's kinda funny. Ask MSP, he saw my cosplay picture and asked me "Are you a boy?! O_O" I was on the floor rolling. x3 It was great. xD; I'm sorry you don't get the same amusement out of having your gender mistaken, Shatterheart.

Yeah, well... I can't really relate to the age problem... Because people assume I'm anywhere from 15-19 years old. But, when I was a little kid, adults often thought I was a boy. -.-; I guess it's understandable since I had short hair, but... I never liked it. Now I just think it's funny. ^.^ Besides, my hair is waaaaaay too long now for me to even resemble a boy. :eh:

For years people thought I looked sixteen no matter how old I actually was.

Now it's better. I think I'm up to 18. ^-^

For some reason, I always seem to look 2 years older than I am. Lol. This does come in handy during some situations though. For example, I go to the amusement parks and play the "Guess your Age" game and would always win. I mean, now it's not working all that well cause I think I'm starting to just look my age. :bang: Or maybe I'll start to look younger than my age and I'll be able to start my winning streak again... Lol.

Anyway, being on the wrong side of 20 you'd think I'd be safe. For the most part I am, but that is because I have taken to always having facial hair. Without it, I have a rather round face and people put me around the 14-16age. God must laugh at all of our little quirks of vanity, eh?

When I was in high school people thought I was twelve. Now at least they think I'm 16 or 17. I just have to remember that I'll consider it a blessing when I'm 40.

When I was 16 or thereabouts, I was mistaken for being 20 once or twice. Now I'm 23, and could pass for 30 or so if I wanted to.

I can also go from clean-shaven to full, manly middle-eastern-style beard in about 2-2.5 months.

Holy crap I get that all the time! Even from people on CAA. Mr. Smartypants thought I was a male until he saw my picture and then he thought I was only, like, 14. He still won't let it go. It's craziness... even make-up and curly hair can only seem to bump me up to looking like a Freshman. *Anakin Skywalker* It's noooot faiiir...
