Jobs in the tech field pay medium to high salaries - which vary on you geographic location.

In the mid-west, you could, with a four year degree in a Computer field, expect to draw around $40,000 - $60,000 per year as a starting salary straight out of college. You are going to want to live in a geographic location where they actually design games, though - like Chicago, San Francisco, or San Diego all seem like good places for that. What you really want to do is figure out what living expenses and prospective salaries are for the areas you will most likely live in once you find your dream job.

For example, you can probably live well on $50,000 in the Chicago, but you will starve to death trying to live on that in San Francisco.

I hope that's helpful.
