What's Your Idea Of A House You Would Want To Live In?

I have always been fascinated in house designs. I liked the show Extreme Homes on the Home and Garden Network and seen some I liked. I liked the one where a family would find a old fire station and design it to be a home but also keep the fire station theme by buying and storing old fire apparatus in the building.
I have a thing for homes and other buildings built by Monolithic Dome Company out of Italy, Texas. Their building have with standed up to tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes and other disasters.
You can attend classes to build you own home or start a business building domes.
I just this Sunday seen on CBS Sunday Morning in Mainland China where luxury homes are being built out in the countryside.
One was interesting. Its called the Suitcase House. You walk into a long and wide house. To use the bathroom you raise a panel in the floor and theres a full bathroom, sink, tub and toilet. Walk to another part of the house raise another panel and theres a bed. I think I would be afraid laying in bed or sitting on the toilet having that raised panel come down and trap me or hit me in the head.
One thing is if you want to have a party you move a few wall panels and open the house up more.
I seen a house that was built in Japan for a family and it looked like a warehouse. You had a kitchen and bathroom but the bedrooms were rolling boxes. If you wanted to sleep outside you roll your bedroom outside through a sliding panel.

I'd really like to live in a house on the outskirts of a suburb - something with the convinience of a bigger town, but with a country feel (they have a lot of places like that in Australia. =O). Maybe near the beach. ^_^ If anyone here's familiar with Laguna Beach, California...ah, I love that town. <3

I remember once my therapist told me to close my eyes and envision it, and I saw one of those pretty old-style houses with a wrap-aroud porch, a porch swing, probably a tad bit smaller than my family's current home. Shutters...x3 white with colored trim. Hee hee, I guess I'm a bit old-fashioned like that.

I remember seeing some gorgeous houses - ones built into cliffs or over a waterfall and stuff like that. *_*; Oh so pretty...but I'd be afraid my house would fall over the waterfall or something terrible like that.

i know this sounds kinda odd, but i'd like to live in a mountain, not on a mountain, but IN a mountain, as in having a series of tunnels that link each room together, maybe have a window or two, but the reasons why i'd like to live in a mountain are a) i like mountains...a lot b) i like the cold, and if i lived in a mountain, the inside would always be in the 70's without heating or air c) natural disasters (aside from earthquakes, and landslides) wouldn't bother me in my mountain, tornadoes can't even do any damage to those, anyway, just my opinion

A warehouse. Literally. In fact, a very large warehouse, so big that I can stack hundreds of thousands of computers around everywhere and STILL have enough space to make a 60' tall robot for me to ride around in. If not a warehouse, maybe an underground base of sorts of really large kind.

That's cool, I think. I agree with the cold. Wait.. But how would you clean?

I would just like to live in a simple, kindof small house. "Cosy". Apartment, maybe? Just something right for me. I don't want to live all alone in a mansion. How am I going to clean, keep things in order? (I can't even do it in my own room right now.)

I perfer a Tudor style house with a hidden carriage style garage and
a rose arbor growing over the gateway.With two weeping willow trees
guarding the walkway on either side and a fountain/birdbath containing
a statue of a cherub playing a harp.Then to the side would be a small
fir forest with rabbits and other small animals.In the back would be
a vegetable garden with carrots,potatoes,asparagus,peas,strawberries,
blackberries,gooseberries,raspberries,etc.and to the other side a flower
garden with roses,violets,etc.
There would be no other motorvehicles other than a couple of Vespas
and of course there would be a couple of cows and horses.The horses
to ride.
And my wife and daugthers would be like a queen and princesses.

I want a koi pond... inside the house... Actually more like a stream running through the entire house, with beautiful koi in it. There would be a few cycling waterfalls, maybe running down a wall or two into the stream. And I want a real tree growing up in the middle of the house, maybe with a big skylight that we can open in nice weather. I want the walls to be made of raw, unpolished stone. The floors would also be natural stone, but smoother. The floor plan would be very open and airy, with lots of natural light

Some of those mentioned, like a cave, a old missle silo and our Father's house have been shown on Extreme Homes. The was the man who bulit his home into the side of a mountain or hill in one episode. The one thing is that the temperture stays 70 degrees year round. A family bought a old missle silo from the government and converted it into a home. They have one great garage where they store their cars and a airplane.
In a episode a couple bought a old church and converted it into a home. They left alot of the religious items like the stain glass windows, some pews and I think the organ in place. One thing when I was 3 years old, my parents moved into a old church which was coverted into apartment building.
We lived in part of the sanctuary so we had a good size livingroom. My bedroom was over the baptism pool which could be seen in the basement.
Two years ago I went down to where I use to live and the house is still there. It has been 40 years since I was there so the building has been there a long time. The last house we lived in in that town is now owned by a church which owns the whole block, houses and all.
Some episodes had old repair garages, one room and full scale schooles with a full size gym and warehouses converted into homes.

One simpe solution is to get marooned on a tropic island like on
Gilligan's Island and then you don't have to think too much about what
style of house to build as a simple grass hut would do.

Okay, a courtyard then. A circular courtyard, surrounded by the house. Then every room would have a patio or balcony. I love balconies. And the koi stream could run partially outside, so the fish can sun themselves sometimes.

My ideal house would be pertty large, have white carpet, an office for me, a pool in the back yard, a huge family room, and a nice, big kitchen. Actually, this is the type of house I hope to live in someday...

Of course anywhere near the ocean would be the best house ... ever ... but my more practical wish for a house would be small, cozy, easy to clean, and very neat.

I'd have to be careful not to fill it too full of books, and I'd have to organize all my stuff well. But I think a nice little house would motivate me to do that.

I would like an apartment or small house in downtown. >^^<;; I know it sounds silly, but living in downtown is a wonderful place for inspiration in stories and art. Inlcuding I don't want to worry about mowing grass and taking care of a HUGE house. But of course I want a NICE apartment.. Not a crummy one.. >^.^<

A dark, intimidating castle, on a large, deathly property. Say, 8 acres of dead trees, bare dirt, and brown grass, with a small, sickly lake. In the middle of the property, after a windy, cobblestone driveway, would be a dark stone castle with three intact towers and one ruined one. Within, things would be dark and gloomy, with medieval weapons on the walls treated to look like they're freshly bloodstained. A circular staircase would descend to a landing with an elevator door, and the elevator would go down about 40-60 stories. At the bottom would be a bright, high-tech manufacturing facility for fighting robots, and they would be shipped by secret tunnels to a nice secluded cove, where they would be loaded onto waiting submarines. Yeah, who wouldn't want to live in the birthplace of the Dracula Gundam.

I would have a two story octogonal shaped home, with the first storymostly being exposed steel supports in each corner, a wrap around porch, and mud room/staircase/bathroom in the circular center. the second floor would continue the steel supports on the outside, but they would bend to the middle above the house, and the center would be the living room area, sunk 1 step below the rest of the floor. each "slice" of the building would be a seperate room, with 2 bedrooms, den, kitchen, dining, bath, etc. xterior would be medium-dark brown wood and dark grey steel, with lots of windows. Interior would be light pale green, light orange and sky blue and same color wood, with rounded entryways and lots of plants. Roof would be metal, dark green with many skylights...
