Could i play Chrono Cross right now and enjoy the storyline?
If so, are they`re any major spoliers for Trigger that could be found in Cross?

Could someone simplay give their opinion of Chrono Cross with about comparing it to Chrono Trigger. All I ever see is:

"It`s a great game, but nothing compared to Trigger."

I wanna buy it ASAP because i have a feeling all PS1 games are going to cease to exsist due to the downfall of video games. Kingdom Hearts 2 may not hit America........

As of right now, as i play along I`m working on a parody called "Chrono Handle". It`s pretty funny actually. In case you guys are wondering, I like writing stories alot on the internet and just on scratch paper. My funniest of my stories is the Cid highwind Show (a Final Fantasy talkshow) which can be found on fanfiction websites. Er...I wish that this website had fanfiction.

Anyways, this will clear a lot of confusion, but does Chrono Trigger take place on Earth?

There are major spoilers for Trigger in Chrono Cross, yes.
If I were you, I would beat Trigger first.

Downfall of video games? Where in the world did you get that idea from? PS1 games are not going to "cease to exist," especially the more popular ones. There will always be used games circulating through the stores. Kingdom Hearts II is a highly anticipated game, both in America and Japan. It will certainly be released on this side of the Pacific.

Anyways, this will clear a lot of confusion, but does Chrono Trigger take place on Earth?

No. The world is entirely fantasy.

Actually the donwfall of video games idea came from ShatterHeart`s thread "Sony Owes Some Money Now".

i can`t find Star Ocean: the Second Story, Chrono Cross or Grandia Xtreme in ANY store in this entire state (massachusetts).

I cant buy it one ebay either because I don`t have a credit card and my dad refuses to let his be posted online.

Compared to FF7, how long and how hard is Chrono Trigger compared to it.

Oh, that. No, I wouldn't worry. That lawsuit thing shouldn't seriously affect any upcoming releases.

What stores are you looking in?
Grandia Extreme should be fairly easy to find as it is a pretty recent game.

Chrono Cross was a popular title and you should be able to find it in Gamestop's used PS1 game section.

Star Ocean: The Second Story is rarer than the other two and might be difficult to find, depending on location, but keep trying, and you should be able to locate a copy. It certainly isn't the rarest PS1 game, at any rate.

Compared to FF7, how long and how hard is Chrono Trigger compared to it.

Eh, I wouldn't consider Chrono Trigger harder than FFVII. If anything, it's probably easier.

I saw some thing on GameFaqs that said a gmae called Chrono Quest was released on the Amiga. Not that i know what the heck an Amiga is.

Also, did Crono make any appearences in Chrono Chross. I could`ve sworn I saw Lucca with a dumb accent.

Crono does indeed appear in Chrono Cross. I will not say any more to prevent spoilers.

Lucca does too, but no, it isn't the Luccia from Viper Manor. She DOES have a connection to Lucca, but it isn't the same person.

For what it's worth, I thought that was the worst part of Chrono Cross. Giving characters speech quirks doesn't exactly work in a text-based game.

Yeah, I just got Chrono Cross and I wanted to try it out. But I know I have to beat CT first and all that jazz.

How far into the game would it be safe to play CC?

I`m currently at the part where you saw Frog`s past.

beat the game once and you'll be safe; however there are a great many paradoxes within Chrono Cross but try not to think into them too heavily.

I tried out the battle system and I actually found it more fun than CT.

I just defeated Magus and am kinda confused. I thought Lavos attacked everything in 1999 not in 600? Well, I`m back in the annoying Prehistorics. Come on, i`m at least one fourth through the game right?

yeah, 25-35% sounds right for defeating magus... I'm a little rough on my percentages because i always do every side quest and talk to as many people as possible (not to mention obsessively fighting bad guys to bring my stats up to rows of nines and my level up to 75 on all the characters)... I had to go through the game a few times until i found out where all the side quests were =P

Just keep playing. it should make sense soon.

Um 25-35% ?

You apparently are bad with your spelling. According to this:
P: Millenial Fair
1. The Queen Returns
2. The Queen is Gone
3. We're Back
4. The Trial
5. Beyond the Ruins
6. The Factory Ruins
7. The End of Time
8. The Village of Magic
9. The Hero Appears
10. Tata and the Frog
11. The Rare Red Rock
12. Footsteps! Follow!
13. The Masamune!
14. Magus's Castle
15. Forward to the Past (I`m here right now)
16. Unnatural Selection?
17. The Magic Realm
18. Break the Seal!
19.The Guru on Mt.Woe
20. What Lies Beyond?
21. Lavos Beckons
22. The New King
23. The Time Egg
24. The Fated Hour
25. The Final Battle

I`m about 55-60% done.

So Chrono Tirgger`s first sequel was called Radical Dreamers and then Cross came out. Can any of you Japanese gamers describe Dremars for me?

Radical Dreamers was a text-based game, much like Zork...if you know what that is, young'un. :P

Chrono Cross has been described as an alternate universe telling of Radical Dreamers. The basic premise of Radical Dreamers was that your party, consisting of Kid, Serge, and Magil, were trying to find an artifact called the Frozen Flame.

It's a spoiler about Magil...since Radical Dreamers will probably never be released in the US, I won't put a spoiler box around it, because it seems pointless. Anyway, Magil always wore a mask, and at the end of the game he took off his mask and revealed that he was actually Magus. This is part of the reason why people think that Maguile from Chrono Cross is Magus. BUT HE ISN'T.

Anyway, I found a ROM of it on the net, but I can't find a full translation patch for it, so I can't tell you how good it is, since my knowledge of Japanese is approximately zero.

Zork....that sounds like a planet in some Nicklodeon show.

And how was Radical Dreamers played and stuff. Like battle system and so on...

Also this was mande in 1996 so Serge was in CT graphics?! A must see....oh yeah and
Thanks for not telling me Crono was a ghost in Cross.
And I also saw pictures with Crono and Marle and Marle had a wedding dress and Cron had a crown. Gee, I wonder what the occasion was.
Ok, I reached the Fated Hour and I can`t beat Lavos. My friend also told me Chrono Cross is way better and I should just play it.

I just
Ressurected Crono from his weird death. Have I been spoiled out?
Cross seems like the kind of game I`d like. You can take any path you want and the battle system rocks my socks. The graphics are.....eh....doesn`t matter really.
Why does everyone think i`m graphic crazy?!
I like Grandia 1, runecape classic, FF8,FF7,FF6, and well, Chrono Trigger.
You think I care about graphics. My friend squinted when he played Grandia 2.

Chrono Cross is a great game... The battle system is rooted in strategy rather than leveling up, and the plot is great as a followup to CT, though the connection is made late in the game...

"Iz not preminition or prophecie, iz historie" (sorry, don't remember the exact quote, It's been a long time since I played it...)

I must say, I was a bit annoyed in BOTH games by the "silent protagonist" bit... So annoying... I hate main characters that don't talk, but are still understood... Some sad attempt at "making you the character" sorta like First person view... I feel more connected to James on SH2 than to Serge on CC or master chief on Halo, that's for sure...

Who I DID connect with on CT and CC, however, were the talking main characters (Lucca, Merle, Frog, Magus, Schala, Kid)

Schala! Head Schala! Hahahaha... Sorry, I think of that song everytime I here her name... Though, I don't know if it's a "sh" or an "sk" pronunciation... I always pronounced it like "Sh" which would fit the song, while the "sk" one wouldn't...

I never got the good basic ending to CC or CT... I forget what ending I got on CT, but on CC I got the
Schala dies ending. It's so sad... I wanted to see her saved so badly, but I didn't have the item I needed to save her...
"You are the Chrono Trigger!"

Yeah, probably... If you're having a hard time with Lavos, though, CC will be MUCH harder... It is much harder overall than CT. Seeing one of the endings does set up CC better, but it's not one of the basic endings anyhow... If you killed Magus, then the ending you need to get is impossible...

I have Magus in my party. And I`m doing all the sidequests besides the black omen. Oh, and there`s one thing I don`t get it.
in Chrono Cross you see a guy in your hometown and he says he goes by The Great Adventurer Toma and this is in the year 1020 AD. then in Chrono Trigger Toma`s grave reads "Here lies Toma the Great adventurer. Died 673.
Also, I don`t remember any of these places in Chrono trigger.

Chrono Cross takes place on The El Nido Archipelago, a chain of islands somewhere to the south of the large continents that Chrono Trigger took place on.

First of all, if you talk to the guy in Serge's home village, he mentions he's the Great Explorer Toma the 25th...or something. It's up there. So it isn't the same guy. Toma I, from Trigger, did indeed die in the 600's.

All of Chrono Cross takes place in the El Nido Archipelago. You're not going to leave it. In fact, when you're asked to save Kid's life, someone mentions that the only hydras left are in Zenan, and you can't get to the mainland this time of year.

As far as Chrono Break, I'm pretty sure it's not even in development. So you won't see screenshots anywhere. All we know is the name, and even that could change. Trust me, if Squenix were working on the game, we'd have official news by now.

There is a TINY bit of time-travel in Cross. But to say why would be a spoiler.

Um, Tom, I checked out that site...do you know what the date of that article is? April 2003. Yes. Two years ago. If Square WAS working on Chrono Break, it's obvious that they gave up on it. They wouldn't keep a project like that this quiet for two years.
