I used to play quite a bit, but I don't have anyone to play with anymore.

My favorite colors are white and green. Not the most destructive duo, but I have fun playing them. Plus it's a hoot when you are playing against a red deck and my "eternal life" engine kicks in. No amount of direct damage is going to take out my 130 points of life.

I've played an older version (not the current one). A lot of fun though the most advanced decks were rather confusing. Shown by my brother who played with his wife a lot.

I used to have an angel deck. Ridiculously slow to start up, but once it starts rolling...

To complement the slow pace of the angel deck I made a burn deck, but no one wanted to play with me on that deck (too easy to kill people unless they too had some uber deck).

I favorite is mono-black with stuff from torment.

While there are a few players who like to imagine themselves sending a giant fireball at a giant beast, most magic players have a very different outlook. most people, like me, look at it like chess. sure there are knights like in real war but you don't imagine the knight killing a bishop in the game do you?

i played years ago, say about 10 years ago. Ice Age was the main release then as i recall. i spent more time coming up with deck designs than playing. yet it was fun. i had a bunch of friends who played. (we tried out a lot of CCG's) prolly the most fun is when we all got a different CCG and played each other. i think the guy playing the Highlander deck won, cause he had several cards for 'block left/ block right' to reduce all damage from the player from that side. this is what happens when you mix all games, some have an unfair advantage.

anyway it was just fun, there was no spiritual significance to the game. (although i am sure there are people out there that could make something of it).

What's the whole point and function of a sliver deck (picked up from weeks of watching in early college years)?
K. Ayato: What happens if you press the small red button?

mechana2015: Does that answer your question?

It's best to approach anything like Magic with caution. You do not want to invite disaster by dabbling with forces that you do not understand or in praising gods other than the Lord.

That said, I don't think Magic does any of that. It's a card game. It does simulate magic use, so I can understand why some people do not like it and refuse to accept it. It does not, however, have anything to do with real magic. It's pure fantasy.

I would consider the Magic 8 Ball to be more dangerous than this card game.

By the way, I totally agree with going the “Theme Deckâ€

I have an Angel deck, too. Wow, who'd have thought in a room full of Christian MTG players, there's be three angel decks?

Anyway, I usually don't have a speed problem. There are low casting cost angels out there, if you look for them. Having back up cards like Swords to Plowshares and Guardian Angel also help you stay in the game until you get that Serra Angel out.

like everyone said, start with a theme deck, thats what i did. Better cards then a starter deck and the cards help each other out to do good combos

didja know they have MT:G Books?

are you talking about having three faceless butcher and causing an infinite loop that will cause the game to become a tie?

i have a cool combo that kills in one turn once you have both the cards.the drawback is you have to have an odd number of life and your oponent an even. Its Gratuitous violence and Heartless Hidetsugu.

Slivers share their abilities with other slivers. When you get a lot in play, they're all loaded with strong abilities, the only real differences being their stats.

No amount of direct damage is going to take out my 130 points of life.

I could kill you at 130 life... 130 life isn't that much anyway, I've had infinite life before. Infinite mana and Infinite damage.

Yeah I suppose that means I play a lot. It's one of my biggest hobbies. I have decks of pretty much every colour.

Its Gratuitous violence and Heartless Hidetsugu.

Use pingers such as Spikeshot Goblin, lifegain helps you get odd life too. Honden of Infinite Rage is handy also.
To get that to work you can use Furnace of Rath or Overblaze as well.

Here's my turn 1 kill.

Mountain
Spark Elemental - 3/1 hasting trampler, sack at end of turn
Play 2 Blazing Shoals, Remove 2 Myojin of Infinite Rage from the game, giving the spark +20/+0. Hit for 23 damage.

Should that not work, no problem.

2nd turn
Mountain
Desparate Ritual = Add 3 red mana to your mana pool.
Play Spikeshot Goblin - 1/2 + Red mana and Tap: Deal damage equal to its power.

3rd Turn
Island
One Blazing Shoal, remove One Myojin of Infinite Rage from the game.
Spikeshot is now a 11/2
Ping for 11 damage
Play Dreams Grip to untap the Goblin.
Ping for another 11.

Thats a 3rd turn kill using only the most recent cards, so anyone can do it!

yes yes yes! cloning your own faceless butchers.... oddly my friend both had clones and faceless butchers so it almost was a tie... but he let me take a turn back because i wanted someone to win... which was him

my decks are
black-rat deck whith some other types of creatures but mostlyrats
Red-same as my black except whith goblins
White-angels whith foxes
White/Black/Red-samuria deck except for a few creatures
i dont like blue too much because it doesnt seam to be so agresive and green is too much dependant on creatures and both never seemed to work for me even though i cards like Tidal Kraken or thorn Elemental

Green is rarely good on its own (except for Elves). When you mix Green with other colours is when it gets really nice!

Think

Kumano Master Yamabushi
half a dozen land
Heartbeat of Spring (all land produce double mana)
dwell on that for a wee bit ;)

Blue isn't that aggressive, it's more reactive. MUC (Mono Blue Control) is one of the most powerful decks at the moment.

11 mana? Hmm...I could have that out on say..... Turn 6 or 7. Possible faster. I can get Turn 2/3 dragons.

MY friend Phil and I play 2 headed giant (2 on 2 team game, combined life totals)
Im playing Red Green, Hes White Black. We can get Kuro Pilord (9 mana) out on Turn 5 and Myojin of Nights Reach (8 mana) out on Turn 4.

Most of my decks are built for speed, but not Goblin Sligh or White weenie speed.

Oneo f the most powerful cards out at the moment - Umezawa's Jitte. I wasl ucky enough to pull one at the Betrayers pre-release ;) GO ME!

I have to disagree. Green can be plenty good on its own. Mono green aggro can be quite powerful and fast when used correctly. (Troll Ascetic, Eternal Witness, and Sakura-Tribe Elder. These make green both speedy and strong.) I agree about blue, though.

The Jitte is amazing. I was playing a 3 way game today. In play I had

Jitte
Honden of Life's Web
Furnace of Rath

with plenty of Arcanes + 2 Glacial Rays in hand.

A combo of Jitte + Tokens and Rath allowed me to take down Yukora the Prisoner, Seizan Perverter of Truth and another beefy demon..

then I dropped a Kodama of the North Tree... Kodama + Furnace = Gross sickness personified!

So I creamed one opponent with it.

Top-decked a fireball for 18 damage to the other. (10 land + Furnace).

Most of my decks arent very good when im playing multiplayer.Thier ment to take people down fast so i have a lot of small creatures and my friends dont attack until attacked(i hate it when they do that) :shady: .So i attack one aponent and kill him, but by then my oponents have beefy creatures so then i get trampled by hordes of creatures and die but sometimes i get lucky and kill of my opponenst quickly(usually when they have mana problems).so im better one on one.

Single player decks aren't usually that good in multiplay. You really need to focus on cards that do a lot.

Myojin of Night's Reach - All opponents discard their hand.
Wheel and Deal - All opponents discard their hand and draw 7 cards.
Wrath of God - Destroy all creatures.

Sizzle from 8th is pretty good, 3 damage to all opponents.

Later today (If I remember), I'll post a decklist for my 2 Headed Giant deck.
