I'm glad someone else recognizes that ep1&2 were aimed at 10 yr olds.
the only hope I have for ep3 is that Lucas fired the existing writer and got a new guy to write lines

The DIALOGUE writer was fired. Playwright Tom Stoppard wrote the dialogue for Ep 3.
Lucas wrote and created the plot, but doesn't usually write every single line in the script. He's far to busy for that, so he hires writers to help him out. That's done every day in hollywood. Even sitcoms have multiple screenwriters.
In an interview with Hayden Christensen (about ep3), he said, "I actually get to have human dialogue in this, which is nice."
So even he recogized the bad lines in the first 2.

but maybe we're just strange?
Sesshoumaru wrote:VERY, starnge because ROTJ was the best one. Empire was good as well, but I enjoyed ROTJ more.

For me empire worked because it had the characters seem most human

At any rate...
I agree with AH, for me, Empire was the best, and Jedi was the worst. Evil villains, good character development, and a cliffhanger ending.
Gotta love it.
ShiroiHikari wrote:so Lucas ISN'T entirely responsible for the screenplays then? eh...I guess it doesn't really matter, because either way, the dialogue was inferior to the original, in my opinion.
Orange Kitten wrote:Well, he IS still the director, who has the final say in what goes down.
On topic of what of the originals were the best, Empire was my fav, Jedi was my least fav. I didn't mind the space worm. It showed some of the dangers of space that weren't touched in the other two (besides being shot down by the empire lol).
Yoda being a muppet,
I miss muppets and think that movies should ditch some of the overused CG and get back to the puppetears. Puppets, even though having limitations in movement, do add a sense of realism that many CG characters lack.
and hey, who else agrees that the Empire is symbolic of Nazis? Uniform design, the names?
