Console Wars

Postby Tommy » Tue May 10, 2005 12:22 pm

I know that you see Console Wars in alomst every thread but the soul purpose to this thread is for people to argue their heads off over which system they like better. Usually threads with console wars start out as polls, or recommended game thread, or other crap like that. Here`s the main systems that will be debating. I`ll show you which ones I like better.

PS2>Gamecube (PS2 is just all around better.)

PS1> N64 ( Better games, better graphics. Same as their past competition ).

SNES<Sega Genesis (Sega Genesis has more classic games. I know all you hardcore RPGers are probably saying: "WHAT?! BUT FF6 and CHRONO TRIGGER were on that system. Please, Sonic the hedgehog is way more popular and is way more a clasic then any fantasy game. Why? Every kid I run into knows you sonic is. No one has heard of Locke. And Not one person in my school has heard of Chrono Trigger. PERIOD)

PSP> NDS (Better Graphics, better games. So what?! The touchscreen only works for like 2 games and sucks for the rest).

Xbox<PS2 (PS2 has better games, Xbox has better graphics. I don`t care much for graphics but apparently more than alot of people here on CAA.)

GBA> DS ( DS wold be better if it didn`t have all those extra buttons that confuse you [only two but shut up] and the two screens can get annoying when you`re playing a GBA game. Also you can`t play any GB, GBP, or GBC classics.)

Go ahead. FLAME ME!

Aha! I flame thee, mine advarsary, and in return reverse (!) all of thine arrows!
lol

Here are my points:
*Gamecube has Smash brothers melee
PS1 graphics give me a headache
MARIO is more well known then SONIC ever was
the DS has Pictochat AND is 802.11b compatable for all of us hackers (not crackers) weak argument i know.
And finally - Halo 2.

ugh... ive been in THOUSANDS of other forums... and they all look down upon console war threads... its one thing to inquire others about what consoles you like... but its another to say "ZOMG GAMECUB SUCKS" to an avid gamecube fan... it hurts others feelings... itll just end up to flamewars...

This forum exists to provide an atmosphere to discuss games... Let's not pollute that with personal attacks against people who don't think the same way you do... topics like these just become ugliness

wise advice: stop while you're ahead

Sorry, I just don`t like Gamecube.

And Mario just stood the test of time. None of his games are good anymore. I mean I guess -looks into future- Mario Part XII was ok even though everyone is the same. Mario Cricket did have its moments ooh and how about Mario Shuffleboard, Link was in that one!

Dreamcast should`ve lasted longer. I liked that system.

None of his games are good? What? Okay, so that's your opinion. Super Mario 64 is the single most influential 3D game ever.

Mario Sunshine got high scores across the board.

What exactly hasn't been good? Oh, right, you think if a game is okay for kids to play than it's bad. Sorry, there aren't any gangsters or exploding heads and guns. Right.

Or maybe you just have a hate for Nintendo. Whatever.

I'm going to go and play Sonic Adventure. DreamCast>All.

Ok, I personally dislike games with guns and exploding heads. I don`t see why kids waste their money buying Games Like San Andreas or Mafia, but they can do whatever they want.

Mario is overrated because of its past success. Super Mario Sunshine was a load of crap for people 10 and over. Do you remember the commercial? the sad part wasi n that commercial they were serious. Can`t they just make a Mario game like the trilogy that casused it to gain popularity with 3D graphics? Super Mario 64 was good. By the way, has anyone tried the ORIGINAL mario game (it`s not Super Mario Bros.) and I do like Nintendo. It was my first system.

OK, Tom Dincht, I was beginning to think you were alright cuz you liked FF so much, but then you went against FFVIII that one time and now you're bashing Nintendo.

Though Nintendo is my favorite, I don't mind the other consoles all that much. With that said, I think I'll walk out now and wait for this thread to blow over.

Sorry if I'm offending you, I don't mean to. I'm just really tired of these console wars and can't understand why everyone just can't get along. In the words of one great man:

I think a lot of people are tired of the console wars, I for one. The subject has been exhausted enough. -It's become almost as annoying as politics.

First of all FF8 is probably one of my favorites if not my favorite RPG of all time. I have nothing against FF8.

How am I bashing Nintendo?

myoti, you're right about game's violence. I consider it irrelevant. Grand theft auto's main plus is it's huge and interactive environment, not it's violence. If someone could make a GTA-like environment with a T or E ratings, it would probably be just a popular.

Some violent games like psi-opts are good, while others suck. Keep in mind that PS2 does have mario-like platform games like the Jak and Daxter games and the Rachet and clanks games, which have little to no violence.

PS, FF8 sucked compared to other final fantasies. It's gameplay was painful, it had only six main characters, the money system was tedious, the up-grade weapons mode is awful, the story lacked, and the only redeeming factor was the card game. Nevertheless, it was a final fantasy and was still better than alot of the other games at the time. good compared to other games, not to final fantasies.

First of all Gameoverblue, Myoti said nothing about gam`s violence.

Plus you say it sucked so loosely like its not your opinion but its fact.

All those elements your complaining about made the game challenging, not stupid.

for those of you that aren't familar with FF8's gameplay, let me break it down:
The attacks were extremely weak
The magic were extremely weak and the only useful one was cure
limits were weak and only triggered when the character's life was low
unless you wanted to spend hours fighting random enemies with these weak attacks, you had use these summons over and over and over until you can see it in your sleep
Instead of recieving money through battles, it had the worst money system possible. you receive money based on your level and if you spent too long in one area your level would decrease. to increase it, you would have to test a school-like test.

there are some plus through
The card game was cool
the graphics and some scenes were good
Odin and Seifer's meeting was awesome(if you played it you would know)
the gun-sword mechanic was neat
the limits, although crappy, were different from one another
there were many mini-games and a huge environment(compared to other games, not final fantasy)
procrastination is a virtue.

theory- lets say you work on a project, you spent hours on it, then you die. Then in heaven you think to yourself, why did I waste those hours. :thumb:

With all due respect, can you read, or what? Did you just totally ignore what Fireproof said - or did you assume he doesn't know what he's talking about. I didn't realize that our, "Don't Troll" policy was this unclear.

GOB: Go and read the FAQs. Particularly the one titled "Forum Rules." In case you have trouble with the links, I'll copy the important part here:

CAA administration in the FAQ area wrote:Flaming and Trolling - Flaming is defined as a personal attack on another CAA member. Trolling is deliberately posting controversial material in order to stir up strife. Both types of behavior are destructive to the community and are therefore not tolerated.

I don't give a flying flip if you like to debate. I personally do to. But don't do it on this board. And don't try and convince me it's OK - I have enough trouble as it is...

word of advice, if anyone becomes offended or upset, leave this forum. I respect other people's opinions and I wish they would state their point of view just like I do. If the only point of these forums is to agree on everything, these forums will become very mundane.

if I wanted to cause anger here I would say stuff like "You're an idiot" or "That just sucks" or "you're crazy". I am simply listing my opinion and I encourage others to do the same.

I'm also not going to attack you Mithrandir. you, like many people on CCA, are just trying to make this a better community, and you are succeeding. I encourage you to discourage the many people that try to cause anger for amusement. I will help you. But I am not one of them. And please don't discourage debate. Disagreement, not hate, is what makes the world interesting as long as it has limits.

well, its not the real agreement part, its the debate that pushes people against eachother. a few comments like:

*insert system name* rox!

i think its worthless.

can turn it into a flame war. you can probably say that in a kinder way, and i think its alright to post you views, just not attack others.

thats my 2 cents on why were not allowed to debate :thumb:

Hi, I am Shatterheart. An Admin here on CAA. Consider this your only warning your gonna get on this matter. If you keep trying to argue the rules of the site...you will find how quickly the staff can deal with issues. When you joined CAA you agreed to abide by the rules. Now, if you read them or not is irrelevant. You can either not argue and debate...or you can look around for another site. Your call.
