I was wondering, um, does anyone else feel like they are on a different level than people their age? I kinda do...Take this any way you want... Just want to see...what people think

it depends what you mean by "different." On the spiritual plane, I've been told that I'm more than twice as mature as people twice my age, but I still enjoy playing videogames; everything from Pokemon to Unreal Tournament 2004.

Well, Angel, it ain't limited to just people your age. I see people in their early to mid-twenties that still go:

Yes, I realize this is the internet; however, it would be nice if people actually proved that they passed grade school level English. People who do not speak English as their native language are exempt from that statement, as they're bound to make at least a few mistakes.

Actually, now that I think about it, some foreign people speak better English than most people I know...

On a different level? In what sense, intelligence or social wise?

To be honest I knew many people in school who always used big words just to do so or could just write much better then me. Just because someone can use big words doesn't make them any more special or put them on a "higher level" over another. Personally I find that a bit condescending when people feel that way. Some people are more verbal then others, some use their actions to speak for them.
Plus, from college experience professors would rather a paper be short and concise then long and wordy.

I may not be the best in the english or verbal department, but that doesn't make me any less capable in my understanding of things.

Some people are gifted with different talents. Now if someone doesn't use the talent God gave them, then perhaps I would agree that you can be on a different level then another; but I would compair things based on how many books you have read or how well you can spell. Everyone is good at something and we need to live it and own it. We need to be more humble rather then boastful.

Edit: I'm not saying that communiation or verbal knowledge isn't important because it is... but that doesn't make anyone on a different level in my opinion. I put people on levels based on their attitude and what kind of person they are (how they treat others and etc), not what they know or think they know.

what is age but a pasing of time and the lessions we learn thru the passing of time are differnt and will affect our maturity level, but hey God made us all us...and i can't speel...or use proper grammer...now math is another thing i can do that in my sleep...but to say i am on a differnt level by that...it is a matter of what my brain is good at my gifts...

When I was 13-14 people thought I sounded like some wise 20-30 year old. It was because I studied so much about the world. It is not that I was super smart, it just was that I cared to know about the world I lived in. So I knew a lot because I studied a lot. That hasn't changed and now people think I sound like some wise 40-50 year old. ..."Back in my day we used to have to walk ten miles to school in ten feet of snow without shoes..." O.k. maybe not that bad!

Im not the smartest person in the world and I fail far more than having success, but I learn from my mistakes and I do eveything that I can not to repeat them. I try to think about what I am doing before I do it, but most of the people I know are just spontaneous and dont think before they act so I guess that to them I appear a lot more inteligent than what I really am. Even though I am a terrible speller.

This is exactly what I meant. Especially since you're in no hurry (mostly) on the internet, so you can take time to do it right.

Yeah I kinda feel older than I am. I've always been mistaken for being older than I am...I think that I feel older cus I see people my age acting like fools all the time so yeah...Plus I have this problem with calling people kids...I've called my 60 year old friend a kid before...

I am regularly mistaken for a sixteen-yr. old plus. One time this guy asked me where I wanna go to college next year. I am just a freshman in high school!
It's not that I think I am on a higher level, just maybe a whole different kinda one. Like another world. I just am normally more mature and actually show respect.
I like totally different things, like so many languages, the world, missions, all that kinda stuff.
At my church and school, people just seem to not relate to me. :sigh:

I used to feel that way in high school, but when I got to college I met a lot of people who were a lot like me (keep in mind this was a Christian University, most other places would probably be more like Volt's description). While I do feel at a different level than the majority of people my age, most of the people my age that I know and hang out with are on the same level.

My experience has been similar--whatever difference there was between me and the majority of students in my high school, I am fairly typical for a student at my college. Since I am attending a private Christian school, I am at about the norm both academically and spiritually for a student here.

Would it be completely wierd of me to want to come off as younger than I really am? Seriously- responsibility stinks. Being a kid is awesome- I'm gonna treasure it as long as possible! That's so cute I almost can't take it.

I feel different from people who are my age...but I feel younger. I'm still passionate about interests that most people have started to give up now and I'm still unmarried so that sets me apart a lot as well. I don't act immature, necessarily...I'm sophisticated when the need arises, and I can most definitely be my age...but...my personality is young and cheery.

I often feel like I have nothing in common with my peers. One time in middle school (6-8th grade) someone thought that I was a senior... IN COLLEGE! I sometimes feel very isolated because it seems like none of my 'friends' care about Christianity, faith-related issues, theology, poverty, world hunger, doing something worthwhile with your time... that type of thing. It gets very frustrating.
