Legend Of Dragoon

Postby Tommy » Mon Apr 25, 2005 2:07 pm

I felt like picking up that game a couple days ago, but by the time I got to the store it was closed.

Is it one of thopse rare RPGs. I saw a whole row of it at Toys R Us a couple weeks ago.

My friend told me its like FF only better and it was supposed to a series as long as FFs but the makers decided to leave it as a classic.

Should I get it?

If it's at a low price it's worth a buy. I wouldn't rank it up there with FF. The graphics are of slightly lower quality than FFVII, and the battle system is exceedingly simplistic.

I haven't heard very many good things about this game. It was lauded as a FF-killer by Sony, but when it finally came out, most people considered it rather mediocre and/or a ripoff of FFVII and FFVIII.

I guess if it's very cheap(which it probably is by this point), you could get it. Just don't expect something anywhere near the level of the Final Fantasy series.

The cinematics may have been of better quality than FFVII, but the rest of it was not. VII had better battle graphics, better scenery, and the world map blows Dragoons away.

I could not STAND this game. Granted I am HARDLY what you would call a hardcore RPG lover (my favorite is probably Windwaker or Kingdom Hearts, but FFX is up there), but still...I didn't even find it worth 10 bucks. Perhaps it got better after the first disc...but I didn't like it at all.

I haven't played this game, but all the reviews I've seen of it are only slightly above average. It's apparently a very cliche storyline with a battle system that isn't that great. You should be able to find a copy for about twenty bucks...but I bet there's other games more worthy of that twenty spot. *coughKatamariDamacycough*

I love this game. Bought it years ago. I really enjoyed it. Had FF7 not had such classic characters, I would rank it above FF7. As far as graphics go...I really do not agree. I think LOD has much better graphics all around. The only reason it never got more popular is the fact it was blacklisted by FF fanboys. Now granted, I love FF as much as the next guy. Own 7,8,9,10, and tactics. But I won't rag on a game because it uses a similar system. If you enjoyed FF7, give Dragoon a chance. Its well worth the 20 spot for greatest hits. The storyline is pretty epic and fun too. Don't listen to the FF fanboys though, if you don't belive me...rent it. Its a cool game.

I like Legend of Dragoon a lot too. It was a pretty good game with some plot twists that really surprised me later in the story. I liked the FMV sequences and the spell animations, and getting the correct timing down on the combo attacks was challenging, although sometimes I just preferred equipping the characters with one of those accessories that made them do their atack right every time. Not to scare anyone away, but one of the reasons I liked Dragoon is because it reminded me of Power Rangers and Sailor Moon ^_^. The characters all can turn into color coded armored super heroes and they have long transformation sequences.

I loved it too. i borrowed it from a friend. I think the graphics were way better then FFVII. The graphic really bothered me in VII because it looked unfinished to me. Plus I really hated the fact that you start out as eco terrorist. -_-. But Legend of Dragoon has an awsome story. And I thought the battle system was intresting. Its a good game and some of the lines were really funny. I'm not sure if it was bad translation or if it was supposed to be funny but i got some good laughs in. Not as many I as did with FFIX.

i don't actually own the game, i borrowed it from a friend of mine, but when i did play it i did enjoy it
i thought it was really cool how you ended up fighting the last boss all by yourself without any other characters
i also liked the addition system, which is why i tend to compare it more to ff8 rather than 7, 'cus in 8 you had the trigger system for squall, well in this one the additions were available for everyone, it was pretty easy for me to get the regular additions down, but the dragoon additions had more of a tendency to kick my butt, unless of course i had the dragoon special, but sometimes you just can't use that when you want to, my only gripe about it was the world map, you were limited in where you could go to the paths on the map, but i guess no game can really be perfect, oh well,

For some reason, at that time, every game Square put out had you fighting against god. Not necessarily our God, but the idea that maybe the creator of this universe doesn't have our best intentions in mind and so we need to fight against him.

Legend of Dragoon was pretty good, but its graphics isnt the best. Its storyline is pretty good, and getting the correct timing for their attacks was fun. Kinda challenging too, not to mention Im stuck in the last disc. Its beginning is kinda boring, but it rises when you start getting the dragoon stones. It might be worth to buy. (My opinion might not be reliable, coz Im a diehard fan of RPGs)

I didn't play that much of it, but I thought it was pretty decent for what I did see.
Maybe I'll borrow it from my friend sometime.

The graphic really bothered me in VII because it looked unfinished to me.

True, but remember that that was the first 3-D FF Square did.

It was also the first full 3D RPG and I started up Dragoon and I gotta say the battle system is much more challenging and fun than FF games. Although I have to somewhat agree wth Viking on the graphics. Its what would come in between 7 and 8.

Also I just turned on Chrono Cross to see what its like because I didnt plan to play it till I beat the first one and I ave to say, after one battle its really fun. Chrono Trigger and Cross are tied in my book or Cross may even be better and all I did was one battle! For further discussion of this lets ressurect my Chrono thread! Woot Woot!

I just beat Feyrbrand and that Dragoon guy. The battle system in this game is really great, and I finally have a reason to use Guard (it heals, in case you don't know).
The graphics are kinda not-so-good and the script writing is *bleah*, but hey, as an RPG made by Sony, is still pretty good. :D

Yeah, but it heals 1/20th of your HP. I`ll repeat my question: Is there a sequel in the works?

Uh, 1/10th, actually. And no, I don't think we'll be seeing a sequel anytime soon.
