Baptism

Postby Anna Mae » Thu Apr 28, 2005 5:23 am

I'm getting baptized this summer (I'm in Catechism right now). I was hoping for something über challenging and this... wasn't. All of it was like, "Yeah, I know that...tried that... yup. Deja-vu." :shady: But I think that it did help me grow a little bit (I got to know some other people and practiced patience). So, yeah.

I could use some:
1. Prayer- This is a very important time in my life. I am "officially" part of
the church after this. This is the public declaration of my Faith. I also am
overloaded with busywork types of things, which is cramping my time.
2.Praise- I'm still growing, and I'm getting baptized! :jump:

Congratulations Its an important step in your spiritual growth. If you arent being challenged in your walk then that means that God wants you to be still and wait on him. Perhapse this is a test of your patients. You will be in my prayers.

Well, I didn't say that my faith wasn't being challenged (it is, believe me), just that Catechism wasn't as earthshattering as I had hoped. But patience is always something I can work on...

One thing that I've come to realize in learning about theology and Christianity in general, is that there aren't a lot of surprises. Most of the stuff resonates within our souls because our hearts desire God. Most truths of the Faith are not that shocking once you sit down and think about it and compare it to what's in your heart.

Congratulations on the baptism! ^____^ I will lift a prayer for you now.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Well, I wasn't necessarily hoping for something shocking, maybe just something to send me into exponential growth or something...
